Are DMs that rare around here? To be honest, I find I prefer to DM than to play...
I'm quite happy for you to be well-embedded into Riddleport life, but will of course remember who knows you, who owes you and who might be after something from you :)

DM's are that rare, Megan. As you can see, when someone offers to run a game, it is a real jailbreak to get in.
I left Waltor somewhat blank, in case you have a favored class/build/race you wanted to make him. And I figured the interaction with the arena owner might give you a hook or two down the road.

Here is my character again. I will make a Forum Alias with this name to help things be more clear. Thank you for choosing me for the game! Looking forward to it!

| Kurth Dalton |
Here is Kurth with avatar.
As for background he grew up as an orphan at the docks in Riddleport his father dead at sea and his mother disappeared. His fathers dead made him obssesed with the sea and without any father figure to look up to he started hanging with a group of pirates operating out of Riddleport. As he got more tightly knitted to the pirates he started working as an errand boy along with another orphan named [Friends name].
At the age of 13 he was allowed to come on small trips and raids, but not allowed to participate before he was 18 where he was made part of the crew along with [Friends name].
For the next 10 years they sailed the seas together visiting the most faraway reaches of Golarion. They came to trust each other more than anyone else. And so Kurth didn't ask any questions when [friends name] one night came to him all worked up and paranoid. He wanted Kurth to hold onto an item wrapped in a piece of cloth. And under no circumstances was he to look at the contents.
The next day the bossun called every man to deck where the captain waited them. It was clearly not a rutine meeting and the atmosphere was tense. The bossun told the crew how the captains valuable cloak pin had been stolen the night before and if no one stepped forward and took responsibility the guilty would be severely punished when found.
Shocking everyone, Kurth the most, [friends name] stepped forward and accused Kurth of the thievery. His cabin was searched and the piece of cloth [friends name] had given him contained the pin.
Kurth was marooned with a crossbow containing one bolt. Having grown up on the streets had taught Kurth to survive and look out for himself and by sheer luck or fate of destiny a ship passed by the island a week later.
Kurth spend the last 5 years tracking [friends name] to find him ahead of a gang in Riddleport. For all those years he has been saving the crossbow and the arrow meant to finish his own life waiting for an opportunity to turn it on [friends name].
-----------
[friends name] is typed like this so i can insert a name for an appropiate gang leader if you allow it Megan.

I went to the contest mainly for human interaction. Since I have arrived in Riddleport I have yet to make any strong friendships, only a few acquaintances. After growing up in the monastery where everyone knew each other, it is hard to be truly alone amongst all of these people. Maybe I can make a new friend, or at least get a job and belong to something again. Then again, making some more money would not hurt, everything cost gold here.
| Cavan Prylfellow |
OK, this is DeLeon. I updated Cavan's character sheet to include a Second Darkness feat, and I made a forum alias for the character. Basically Cavan is a bard who heard of the great Blot in the sky, and he has come to investigate with hopes of discovering some secret knowledge that will make him famous.

And we are off! Please trundle over to Megan's Second Darkness 1 to start the fun.
My rules are:
1. Be nice to each other... unless you have an in-game reason for your character to bicker with another character, but don't let it spill over to real life.
2. Try and drop by at least once a day, or let me know if you cannot. I will do my level best not to kill characters whose players are absent, and if given instructions for your actions will give you every chance to complete them.
3. Use the board die roller. So will I unless there is a very good reason for a hidden roll.
4. Use the 'ooc' tag for brief comments in the game thread, come back to this one if you want a long debate ooc with other players or need to ask a rules question or the like.
5. HAVE FUN!!!
Thank you all for choosing to come play with me.

Looks like the concensus is leaning towards abstracting the gambling, perhaps with some flavour narrative.
I'm good with that. (The AP provides rules for both, by the way!) Is everyone else in agreement?
I intend to move on to begin the evening's events tomorrow.
