"You'd prefer a Tarentek?"

Six scans their surroundings for other possible threats before setting his sight on the droid.

Kol nods at Kidd, then goes to suit up. After buckling his vest and belt, he goes to exit the ramp. He pauses by his speederbike and pat it.
"Some day baby; someday soon."
Then he runs on down the ramp.

At the bottom he extends his senses.

Kidd:

You can sense that there are the life signs in the woods around you and more in the depths below you.

You can also dimly sense the crystals from down below though it is much more clouded your vision now that you are closer to the source.

Vash:

You can sense the life signs in the woods around and more in the depths below you.

You can also now make a bit of the sense of the crystals that Kidd mentioned. There is still the clouding of your vision but the crystals are much sharper. They almost sing in harmony with the force.

Kol:

You can sense the life signs in the woods and in the depths below you.

You can now sense the crystals that Kidd mentioned but there is still a fog jamming your sight. The fog seems to be clearly from the things that are here.

The droid strides towards your group and says, 'It is good to see you, sir. It has been a while. I hope that you'll find everything in order.'

You're not sure who the droid is addressing.

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

Kol hesitates, closing his eyes for a moment before shaking his head and approaching the droid.
"Ah, yes of course. It's good to see you as well. As for finding everything in order, I'll be the judge of that. Lead on!"

Grand Lodge

Kidd's voice practically oozes sarcasm, "Wonder of wonders! The droid is one of ours!"

Smerg:
You mentioned Kidd's clouded vision with the Force. Is there something actively working against Kidd here? Or is this more a fluff description based on me getting a Nat 20 before and simply taking 10 now? I'm not so much trying to pry for information as make sure I understand what Kidd's currently experiencing.

"Droid! Identify yourself and your owner."

Male Half Orc Cleric 2 Fighter 2

"I am SR78-M, Science and Research Droid model 78 version M. I am a human cyborg relations model with knowledge of the care and medical needs of over nine billion different species of flora, fauna, and other biological organisms. I have a built in set of tools for providing care and assistance to my patients while monitoring their health. I have an automatic log tracking system that allows me to download collected data to a central computer system on a regular basis in attractive research paper format. With the company upgrade, I come with my own repair and resupply housing that allows me to catalog and store samples, withdraw pharmaceuticals, and perform emergency medical care in a sterile medical bay. A real bargain if I must say myself. It even comes with automatic inventory controls allowing it to re-order supplies based on average demand cycles for a peak amount of efficiency and least time operation while still ensuring the welfare of the creatures under study."

"I am owned by H&H Transervice Medical a subsidary corp of Dakot Technologies."

"Will that be all, sir"

Kidd:

It is a mixture of both. The perfect roll of 20 allowed you to pierce the normal blanket that seems to cover and hide things. It would explain why Jedi don't seem to know what has been going on this planet when they look for just this sort of thing.

In particular there are Jedi Masters that specialize in looking for disturbances and this would certainly count as such an item but on a lower scale.

If you had more training with a proper master than you might be better able to deal with this places efforts to dampen your perception and what that might mean.

It is not the same or as strong as it was on the prison ship but it is clearly here too. Whatever that might mean.

The droid hearing the command from Kol, 'blinks' for a second as it seems to adjust its aperture lenses and then spins around and starts to lead the way to the elevator.

'Certainly. We don't get many visitors out here but we are more then happy to show are research. I can't give specific details but I can give you a tour of some of our latest successes in medical interface development.'

'I'm sure after seeing some of our research you'll want to invest in H&H Transervice Medical stock. We are a publicly traded corporation located on several of the Core Worlds exchanges including Arkania's Omeg Five Exchange.'

Grand Lodge

Medical Research droid, huh? Doc's most likely our guy, then… again…

Kidd tries to sound like he's picking back up a conversation they'd already been having while staying aware of their strange surroundings, "Doc, maybe this droid can help put our argument to rest. When was the last time you saw our Doc around this station, SR78-M?"

Sevarkoh stands silently near the front. This group's strange past had cost him his first attempt at extracting vengeance and justice from Lunarstar because of their unknown past, and now here it is popping up again. Considering that things had turned into a prison knife-fight last time, he prepares for the inevitable violence that follows them to appear.

Male Half Orc Cleric 2 Fighter 2

The droid pauses for a moment, then answers, 'I'm sorry, that information appears to be restricted to Dakot Technologies Employees level 8 and above. I'll have to verify your code cylinder before accessing that information.'

'Privacy is not just a privilege. It's our policy.'

The last line appears straight from the HR manual for the company complete with the cute alliteration of p.

The droid holds out a claw to receive the requested code cylinder.

Grand Lodge

"yah… welllaaa… I must have lost mine. Doc, did you bring your code cylinder?"

Vash'elie tenses at the pause presented by the droids request, ready to blow it's circuits with the force.

"I don't need a damn code cylinder. You work for me, droid. But, fine, take it." Doc hands over a code cylinder, hoping it's the right one...

Male Half Orc Cleric 2 Fighter 2

The droid takes the code cylinder and after moment of doing and insert an query on it 'blinks' as it refocuses on you.

'I'm sorry sir. It appears that you've brought the wrong code cylinder. That's okay, it happens all the time. We'll just stop by security and get you a new code cylinder issued.'

'Remember, at Dakot Technologies we're working hard to be the Cure in your SeCurety needs.'

The droid heads towards the elevator that opens in preparation to its approach.

What are you doing?

"Whoever decided to program droids with puns should be launched into the cold black of the Unknown Regions."

I say we lock up the ship and follow the droid."

Male Human Scoundrel L5 | hp 36/36 | Defense R20F17W17 | Perc +8 | Status: OK

Kol fishes out his keychain, hits "Lock", and the ramp eases up to the closed position. A double chirp signals the ships alarm is active. He pockets the keys again.

"Right then. Follow that bot!"

Vash'elie goes with the group, following the bot.

Grand Lodge

As Kidd follows the group, he reaches forward and pulls at Doc's sleeve, whispering, "So you really remember being here? That droid really works for you? Or is this a cover for getting us in?"

For the time being, Kidd will do what i said earlier, taking rear-guard and keeping his eyes - and the force - straining for signs of danger.

Male Half Orc Cleric 2 Fighter 2

SR78-M beeps a few squeals and the elevator prepares to descend.

Currently, the elevator is displaying on the internal video screen a map of the landing pad showing the Grasshopper on the landing pad.

When everyone is on the elevator, it removes the picture to display a series of arrows indicating a downward motion.

Almost by instinct, Sevarkoh reaches out with the Force to probe the possible dangers that await them. Considering their last mission had turned deadly very quickly, Sevarkoh is not going to go into potential danger unprepared. Fortunately, he has his lightsabers to protect him, a familiar weight on his belt.

Zane:

You try to block the sensation but you feel strong feelings of pain and suffering as you descend in the elevator.

You feel this pain and you know it is wrong but it provides you a sense of well being.

You can choose to accept a Dark Side point in exchange for a +2 competence bonus for the rest of this encounter. Just let me know if you do.

Sevarkoh grimaces as the seduction of the Dark Side washes over him. Too many times lately, he has accepted its call, but not today. Already ashamed of himself for his actions in the ring, Sevarkoh will not allow it.

"There is pain and suffering below us, like a Dark Side nexus. Be on your guard to avoid its corruption."

At Sevarkoh's words Vash'elie instinctively reaches out with the force, curious as to what he means. SS; 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

"Well, keep the religious talk to yourselves. We have a reason to be here; don't forget it." Doc moves forward, his face set in a frown. It's starting to feel familiar, in a way that both scares and excites him.

Grand Lodge

Kiddrik is startled by Vash's burst of power, but gives the Doc a frown, "That 'religious talk' will probably save your life.. maybe even today. Good catch Zane."

"I've got all the 'mystical energy' I need right here." Six says, gesturing to his weapon.

Vash ripples and flows with the force as she reaches out to sense what Zane was describing.

Vash:

You are having a perfect moment in the force. You can feel your spot in the universe. You are able to see your past and glimpse towards the future.

Change is coming to the Jedi.

They've grown prideful and separate in their ideals. Many will not survive the coming future. The weak will perish and only the strong will be left.

Closer to the moment, you can hear the cries and suffering of younglings. Small sparks of force separated from their parents. Someone or something has ripped the younglings from their parents and housed them somewhere in the complex below.

Being in a perfect moment, you can choose to either get back a force point or get a +2 Competence bonus for the rest of the mission in exchange for a dark side point. Let me know what you choose.

The elevator stops and the doors open.

A large side written in bold metalic letters that are at least two feet in size proclaims, H&H Transervice Medical.

The droid steps forward and turns towards a set of doors that are labeled Security

Doc:

There is definitely something in the 'feel' of the floor and smell of the air that is familiar.

You can almost see images of faces and subjects.

You remember flashes of cages and lecturing interns on healing and enhancing properties of certain crystals. You remember being a leading edge researcher on these properties and their application.

Add +2 Int to your character and the Knowledge (Technologies) skill.

Kol struts along behind the droid like he owned the place.

Smerg:
Do I take a dark side point for either option or just the latter?

Vash'elie follows quietly behind Kol, lost in her own thoughts.

Vash:

Just the latter option of getting a +2 Competance bonus for the full mission. It represents you choosing to get angry at the sound of the suffering of the younglings.

Smerg:
Vash'elie feels sad for both coming events and the younglings. She chooses to hold her anger at bay and approch the situation with a clear focus rather than a clouded one.

I'd opt for getting a force point back but Vash is maxed.

Vash:

Well if you are already at max Force points then there is nothing more that you can gain but having chosen to turn down the offer of the dark side.

Grand Lodge

After waiting for Vash to pass on the information she gathered with the Force, he looks at her, "So what did you sense?"

If she appears to be unforthcoming, he'll try to check it out for himself.
I was trying to let you guys do the force stuff and pass the info along, but im happy to make my own force check.
UtF 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24.

"I senced younglings separated from their mothers. I did not sence wich species but the cruelty involved is a powerfull nexus for the dark side." Vash'elie answers Kidd. She hesitates a moment as if wanting to add somthing but decides against it. "Comon. Lets go. I have a feeling were about to open up a can of whoop-ass shortly."

Male Half Orc Cleric 2 Fighter 2

Kidd:

Opening your senses along the lines that Vash used to sense you can feel that under the blocking current of pain and suffering that there are several younglings deeper down in the structure. You're sense is not as precise enough to determine that the younglings have been pulled from their mothers but they are agitated and lost. You can also sense their fear.

SR78-M heads into the Security room and points to a round disk on the floor with a series of monitors associated to it.

A Knowledge Techmology, Treat Injury, Mechanics, or Use Computer skill roll of 15 or higher will identify it.

Device:

It is a high end full body medical scanner. Security conscious companies often use the items to check for clones and to record information to be used for issuing security ID.

The device records a full spectrum of information and can be precise enough to look for changes in bone density or implementation of foreign items to the body.

SR78-M gestures with a claw saying, 'If you would, sir.'

Around the room are several monitors flashing through camera shots of different scenes and blinking lights indicating various things.

Please make a pair of perception checks DC 15 and DC 20

1st check Perception DC 15:

You notice that one of the monitors shows a group of younglings that are huddled and cowering. They are frightened and scared.

On another monitor you see a shadow of something large moving along. Serpentine in shape.

2nd check Perception DC 20:

You notice that there is a digital count down on one of the panels with a flashing red light beside it.

Grand Lodge

"I can feel them, too."

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Sevarkoh closes his eyes, calming himself for an upcoming battle. He does not want to fall prey to the Dark Side, its temptations proving difficult to resist.

Use Computer. 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Vah'elie steps into the body scaner, letting it do it's thing.

Perception 1 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Vash'elie takes note of what she sees in the monitor, hoping for a way to present itself for the younglings to be reunited with their mothers. Seeing the large serpentine body slither on the screen she nods to Kiddrik toward the screen. "Did you catch that?"

Perception 2 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Perception 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Doc steps into the scanner, scowling at it. Damn machines. Still scowling he notices the countdown.. "What is the meaning of this!?!"

Grand Lodge

"Catch what?" Kidd asks VAsh, but she's cut off at Doc's outcry.

"Uh.. what's going on here, people?"

Any indication of how much time is left on the countdown, or what it might be related to?

SR78-M looks at the display countdown showing just under fifteen minutes. The eyes seem to whirl in thought for a moment as it accesses an information package.

'Good news! The budgetary approval has come through for the new Medical Research Facility. It has been on the books for years but lacked formal approval from the board.'

'The countdown shows the remaining time before the old facility is removed by Orbital Reconstruction. That is where they launch a thermal detonation device from orbit to clear an area for a new facility to be built. It should be quite spectacular to watch.'

"Just how much time is left on the countdown?" Sevarkoh asks. "And why is this station still occupied if it's scheduled for destruction?"

"Just under fifteen minutes. I doubt it's an oversight. Somebody wants us dead, and they are off to a good start."

Six addresses the droid again. "Abort the demolition now, or you'll need a new head to go with that office!"

He levels his rifle at the droid's ocular sensors. "TEN..."

Grand Lodge

Kidd listens to the exchange between Zane and Six, then he casts his eyes over the group with a dubious look, "I thought no one knew we were coming. That Zil wasn't told to send us here… he was told to kill us. Meaning this isn't a trap for us, right?"

He thinks through their options, "We need a plan here. Kol is right that we should see if we can get our ID's out of the system here. it seems to have some information on us… which is something we all want. But we also have to see if we can shut down the detonation, which I'm assuming can only be done through a terminal." He looks at the droid now staring down the barrel of Jayne, "I wouldn't test this 'brak's patience, droid… it's not his strongest trait. Is there a hard kill-switch on the detonation process? A switch we can flip or a hard-line we can cut that aborts the destruction?"

Still thinking, he looks away from teh droid and back at teh group, "Kol's also right about the kids. We can't leave'em. It ain't right. I'll go with a small team to grab'em. We have to be able to move fast and expect some resistance. We're going to need to split up unless Vash can stay connected to the system on the move." That brings on another thought, "DAMMIT! We'll need someone helping us to over-ride security system and crack locks if we're to get those kids. I'm assuming they're not just waiting in some easy-to-reach lounge down there. Vash, can you do all those three things at once, or do you need someone to help you in the system?"

Sorry that was a lot, but we have to make some quick decisions here. Do we split up and have Vash stay in this room? Or do we all go together and hope we can make our time window without getting blown up?

"I don't know and I don't know Kidd. Give me a sec to hook up and see." Vash'elie steps over to the terminal and plugs her brace computer into the terminal, drawing up specs and seeing if she can gain access.

"I should be able to upload a link to my brace so I can do this on the move." she says as she taps away at her wrist.
