That could work, I was basing my thoughts on you doing it later. You could still have mechanics, know tech, use comp, and UTF. Later, you'd get better at both slower due to not being able to take both Force Training and tech feats at once, but it would work.

1> Slicers and Scoundrels are fine. Calamarian or Miraluka.

2> Starting credits, licensees, and equipment. You each have a full cover identity. That includes a place to live, furnishing for your place, several sets of clothing for work and relaxation, and some sort of transportation (speeder bike, landspeeder, or airspeeder). You are living an average lifestyle unless you have a specialty skill which could have you living at comfortable lifestyle (computer tech, medical professional, etc). You have roughly one month's of rent in savings (1,000 credits average lifestyle and 2,000 credits for comfortable lifestyle).

You can have 75% of the starting wealth (listed by class) for your 1st level character in equipment that is in your hidden cache.

You can have licensees for anything that is part of your normal cover story life. Most people will only have access to Licensed items unless their cover story is working in something like security where they may have a license for restricted items. You may not have licensees for any military or illegal items from your cover story.

Your cached items you may pay the price (as in book pg 119) for licenses of anything licensed or restricted. If you want something that is military or illegal then you can have that too (you are covert sleeper agents). The military and illegal licenses will be forgeries (you are covert sleeper agents). Having a license for military and illegal items will only slow down the paperwork of the police if you are caught with the item.

What about me? I've ignored starting anything and just taken a carbon copy of the level one PC HK starter package. Am I property?

I think we are prior to the 'Droid Rights' Movement and the Droid Rebellion. You might have trouble convincing people that you are a 'person'.

You do have your cache which has your 'firearms' and armour in it.

You are likely doing other work at the time of your 'hidden' routines wake you up. Droids are often assigned to do work that they weren't originally programed or built.

You may have a few other things that you have collected. Most droids will pick up a few things that other people have discarded and repair for their own usage.

Wherever you are working, you probably have some sort of power up point in a room with other droids (unless you are working doing something like bar tending or stocking shelves for a mom and pop type of place in which case it will be some corner of a storage room). You could have a few things that you have collected and decorated at that spot.

If you have pilot skills for vehicles then you likely have access to a company vehicle to run errands (most like an airspeeder truck).

N/A Droid (4th-Degree) Soldier 2

It doesn't come with pilot as a trained skill, although obviously I could do it untrained and have pretty good DEX.

What kind of 'few other things' are we talking about? Just anything within reason and common sense? HKs commonly went undercover as protocol droids, so I imagine that's what I'm working as.

This looks good.

The only thing is that if I am reading the rules correctly on pg 113 of the core book that you are limited in Destiny points to your level. That would mean you can only have 1 Destiny point at 1st level.

Also on pg 92 when discussing Force points it says starting characters have 5 force points.

My guess is that you might have copied a level 3 character template or something.

As a protocol droid, you would be either working in

Hospitality (restaurants or hotels)
Small Business (maybe working in a part supply shop or commercial store as a stocker and dealing with the public)
Tourism (Information booth in the Space Station)
Rental Machine for Ship Captains or crew needing a translator

Few things is anything reasonable that a person might acquire. Comlink, a audio, visual unit for playing favourite music, a couple of pictures, or any other such knick knacks that people usually have around in their homes.

You also can figure that based on your job, what items you might have access to pick up though if it is too much then your owner might accuse you of stealing. Generally, owners don't spend too much time checking up on their droid's power spots which often leads to surprises when they finally pay attention (like looking in a cat or dog's hiding spots).

Translator, that was the most common, HK droids have state of the art translator units. What about what you were saying with gear? Can I just choose a few things at random, like a utility belt, stuff like that.

Yup, utility belt is fine. I edited my previous post to give a bit more information.

Yup, choose a few random things (no weapons<except maybe a dinner knife or pocket tool>, code slicers, forgery units or other clearly unsafe items).

Okay, translator is fine.

Ok I'm going for the Mirlukan scoundrel, working on it now. Had f&f over today so I've been away from the boards today.

You are correct, I did copy this from a 3rd level previous character. I'll change it when I make the profile for him.

Spoiler:

In the interest of making a sleeper agent, I'm thinking about when he's 'sleeping' he's a kindly doctor. When he's 'awake', he's a coldblooded killer. I'm thinking about abandoning the blaster and grenades in favor of a heavy sonic pistol or a sonic disruptor and an ion pistol. ALso, would a talent from the Galaxy of Intrigue book work? Specifically:

Done It All: When you select this talent, choose two talents (from any
non prestige class) that you do not possess but for which you meet the
prerequisites. Once per turn on your turn, you can spend a Force Point as a free action to gain the benefits of one of those talents until the end of your next turn.

How does that sound? In combat, merciless. In peace time, kindly.

Done it All looks okay. I'll need to know where Merciless and Kindly come from (book and page help).

The only DM piece of advice that I would give you is that they're going to be expensive on your Force Points. You have 5 at level 1 and you need to spend a point each time that you use either of the two talents for a turn. Points used this way won't be available for other things like extra d6s on die rolls.

What makes the Taungs appealing to you, Nightflier?

--------------------------

The concept for the 'semii-wiped' backgrounds came from a mixture of listening to a Podcast (Shark Bone) and looking up a wiki on KotOR. Since Sigz had stated his interest for playing was sparked by doing the KotOR games, I figured that I would make a neutral spot where players could go either pro Sith or pro Order. I'd leave it up to them to decide.

Taungs are the race of aliens from which Mandalorians descended, but I'll probably go with the human.

I was going through the KotOR campaign guide. Their version of the Mandalorians is that the Mandalorians are humans. They also have the Mandalorians willing to adopt other species into their military order. Any species, according to the Campaign Guide could be Mandalorian though they are mostly human.

There are probably alternative histories for the source of the Mandalorians. For this game, I'm going to go with the KotOR version since it gives the largest pool of creatures which allows for more possibilities for story telling.

I was wondering as well since I want upgraded armor.

I spent the alloted amount. I will be a Security Specialist in the shipyards with focus on the physical security as opposed to the techie side.

Is that a comfortable lifestyle (2000 credits) or not?

With your computer skill at +7 a bracer computer is fine for you to have. I know people with very little income dropping more than a month's wage on a computer.

You can have that as part of your regular lifestyle.

Sorry, without a level of Noble (officer or NCO), you are grunt specialist which means Average lifestyle (especially post Mandaloran War when there are literally dozens of ex-soldiers looking for peace time work).

Working Security, the company will have an employee purchase program for armour which gives a loan of up to 6,000 cr to purchase armour. The price is then deducted out of your wages over a couple of years. You can figure that you have things like a comlink and utility belt along with a type of stun baton and pistol. (no real effect on play except as background for source unless you lose your stuff and need to fill forms for a request to get a new loan to replace the loss).

Fair enough. I will upgrade my armor then to Armored Flight Suit from Blast Helmet and Vest and then I am done.

I still have to flesh out my background and such but that will be easy after this discussion.

This is James. Doc's done, save for two issues: I'd like to take a stun pistol from the Unknown Regions book. Licensed, does 3d6 stun damage, no lethal damage and good out to 20 squares. I reconsidered my idea, Smerg and decided not to go the route I discussed. Too little opportunity for good roleplaying and group dynamics. Instead I'll just be the gruff doctor.

Kol/Camris, you've taken a vibroblade, but you don't have the proficiency. It's an advanced melee weapon, not a simple weapon. Also you've taken the Force Sensitivity feat, but not taken use the force as one of your trained skills. I would seriously advise changing that.

I know it's a few levels away, but did you get a chance to look at that prestige class Smerg? Two key reasons I'm after it are a pair of talents, which I will explain now.

Ordinarily, somebody must spend one hour and make a DC20 mechanics check to repair hp equal to my character level and remove any persistent conditions. I take a -5 penalty to repair myself.

The first talent, called Repair Self, means that when I do this to myself, I get one additional hp for every point by which my check exceeds the DC.

The second talent called Modification Specialist removes the -5 penalty for modifying and repairing myself.

There are feats/talents that remove the penalty for medics too, so this is balanced power wise. It essentially allows me to do self repairs roughly equivalent with someone trained in treat injury using a medpac. However, for me it will always take an hour, and require a check five higher, medpacs being DC15.

I plan on taking the mechanics skill when I raise my INT anyway, so this is a major reason for me wanting this PrC. Let me know when you've had a look at it. For reference, I can take it as my fourth level.

Finally, in all likelihood I would only take three to six levels in this, since I only want those talents, and possibly a third. Obviously this is all thinking very long term.

Looking forward to this. Never played a blind character before.
Since were talking future progression I see her progressing as an infiltration/sabotage type. Maybee take a few levels of soldier, not sure realy, will see where the game takes us.

Gotta say, had I not come in late, already wasn't stretched thin in PbP's, and didn't hvae to dig out my SAGA stuff, I'd be all over this.

As it is, I'll happily be one of your first lurkers... can't wait for the game to start, fellas. Love the premise. Nothing like Jason Bourne using the Force, no?

Actually it is pretty equivalent. Treat Injury on yourself is a DC 5 higher than normal.

EDIT: No, actually it's a -5 to your skill roll. Same thing, different way of saying it.

N/A Droid (4th-Degree) Soldier 2

Yeah, but that's half the point of me taking the PrC, the second talent I want eliminates that penalty. Vash, there is actually an infltrator PrC you may want when we hit eighth level, the game is designed so much characters specialise into one then. For example, most force users will take one of the Jedi Knight, Force Adept, or Sith Apprentice PrCs at eighth level.

Okay, the Independent Droid PrC is fine except that it has you start with Force Points 6 + 1/2 level. I'd change that to 5 + 1/2 level to make it comparable to the other classes access to Force Points.

Uh, yeah okay thanks, that's great! You do know that *every* prestige class in the game has 6+ though yeah? Like I said, the game is designed with the expectation that characters will take them.

In fact, the few third tier PrCs, like Jedi Master, Sith Lord and Force Disciple, all get 7+.

Uh, no. I didn't know.

This is my first time running the Saga rules. The PrC in this system are very different from the d20/3.5/pathfinder rules that I'm most used to using.

Heck, I had to remind myself on how the Skills were being calculated for the 'Trained' skills since I've been doing Pathfinder so much that initially I was wondering on how the bonus's had been calculated.

I looked at the Saga rules (bought the book) when they first came out as part of a believed to be look at the 4e DnD rules (boy was that a surprise).

If the force points are the same for other PrC then the 6+ is fine. It just looked like a miss print to me or an Unleashed thing since I haven't looked at the PrC for Saga yet. I try to take one hurdle at a time.

Thanks for pointing that out to me and I'll try to get over the bumps.

Infiltrator looks good. I'll take the spy talent tree in Force Unleashed for scout if approved by Smerg.

Side note: it seems I can't conceal a heavy blaster pistol so I'm downgrading to regular blaster pistol. That leaves me 350 credits to spend. (licenced hvy blaster 900 - licenced blaster pistol 550 = 350)

I'm looking forward to reading along. I'm a player in Kalderaan's Dawn of Defiance PbP which is going awesome! This sounds like a great premise. I would have jumped in too, but I'm not really familiar with the era in the Star Wars universe. Have a great game!
