How is Walking Dead? I've got them recorded, but I've been loathe to watch them during any hours in which my two-year old could possibly witness any of it, which is basically all the time I'm awake, sadly. If I have to make time to watch it, I will... what do you think?
Bear in mind, I've played Left 4 Dead 2, and I'm very skeptical about the series essentially being an adaptation of the game.

As for puffins... I'll see what I can do.
Sweet!
I bet you tell that to all the semi-aquatic avians. :P

Walking Dead is VERY good. Certainly among the top 5 zombie moves/shows I've seen.
Which would rank like this, probably:
1) Dawn of the Dead (Romero)
2) Night of the Living Dead
3) Re-Animator
4) Walking Dead
5) Evil Dead 2
6) Dead Alive
7) 28 Days Later
8) Shaun of the Dead
9) Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
10) Night of the Living Dead (1990 remake)
So I guess it'd actually TECHNICALLY be in my top 4 zombie shows.
It's quite good. If you like zombies particularly.
And now I'm wondering if I forgot some secret awesome zombie movie...

5) Getting started on writing the first adventure for the Jade Regent Adventure Path.
This confirms beyond any doubt that Jade Regent will be complete, total "WIN". Burnt offerings is my favourite adventure ever. Come hell or high water, I'll be subscribing again for that.
As questions are compulsory for this thread James, have you ever been berated by a possible love interest for not making a move when one was expected, despite your not noticing *at all*?

![]() |

Dang, that's really personal.
:D
Does it help that the question comes from personal experience?
The other would be, "Have you ever found out, after a person has moved on in life, that they fancied you but never said anything? Was that person of the opposite sexual persuasion to you."
Now that one leads to some awkward situations.

Note that "getting started on the writing" does not mean "I will be the author of the first adventure in Jade Regent." I do certainly HOPE to be that author, but if I can't pull it off I'll have to farm it out to someone else. We'll know for sure soon enough.
As for the other question—yes. But mostly by myself for not noticing at the time and then, in hindsight, realizing I was an idiot.

Well, I shall keep on hoping then. That said, I'm hoping to subscribe for Carrion Crown, that sounds way too good not to, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. ;)

Do you uses Critically Hit/Fumble decks in your games?
What line do you use for the Alchemist Bombs?
I have been using the magic line but it dose not always make much sense, which is ok with me?
ALSO, Do alchemist bombs even crit, I thought I remember a long argument about it and when the smoke clear it was deemed a weapon, and could crit, not that the official rules on this are going to change the way I play them, I just wanted to know what how they work with the Critically hit/ fumble decks.

I use the Critical Hit cards in my games. I don't use the Fumble cards; I don't like fumbles; they're depressing.
For alchemist bombs I'd use the magic line (bottom of the card) for critical hits. The magic line doesn't always make sense for ANY magical spell; you either just roll with it and assume that sometimes magic is unpredictable, or you just treat results that don't make any sense as normal crits. And I believe that alchemist bombs DO crit, I believe, but they only double their first die of damage I believe. I don't have my copy of the APG handy right now to double check, though.

Thanks for confirming that from me, That is how I have been running them, it pretty cool to throw a bomb and the guy on the receiving end gets ripped in to a different plane,
"ya.. I totally meant to do that"

Dear Mr Jacobs,
I would like to get your opinion on one of my favorite movies "The Prestige". I personally loved it, I mean come on how can you not love a pair of dueling 1920's magicians and an appearance by Nikola Tesla.
I quite liked The Prestige. I can't remember if it made my top 10 movies of the year for that year, but if it didn't it probably hit spot 11. VERY good movie.

1) If for some reason beholder and mind flayer became available to non-WotC publishers, would you be interested in including them in Golarion/PFRPG?
2) Can you name ten non-OGL monsters that you wish you could pathfinderize?
1) At this point, that'd be a tough question. Golarion is doing quite well WITHOUT beholders and mind flayers, I feel. Hmmm. Yeah, if WotC decided to make them open content (something I am 99.99999% sure will NEVER happen) we'd find a way to get them into Golarion, but they'd have different flavor than you're used to.
2) Hmmm... probalby. A few of them are ones I made up and miss. Fortunately, for most of these, I was able to play around with them A LOT in Dungeon magazine and in the various D&D books I co-authored.
Demogorgon
Malcanthet
Obox-ob
Seraptis
Grell
Hook Horror
Ulitharid
Kerzit
Kaorti
Spawn of Kyuss

Yo JJ,
what is the better soundrack to run during a battle, Conan The Barbarian or Mortal Combat?
The "Conan the Barbarian" soundtrack wins that contest so completely that Mortal Combat would be crushed, driven before it, and you would be able to hear the lamentations of Sonya Blade and Kitana.

6) Dead Alive = Brain Dead (they renamed the movie for the US market).
On sticking with the same director have you ever subjected your self to Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles?

The 8th Dwarf |

Yeah; Braindead = Dead Alive. So I would rank it at 6.
I have not seen Meet the Feebles, but that's, as far as I know, the ONLY Peter Jackson movie I've not seen. Bad Taste is VERY fun, and VERY impressive for being such a low-budget movie.
Meet the Feebles is very very funny but you have to be seriously twisted to like it... I didnt mind Bad Taste but Braindead and the Frighteners were better.

"Human Centipede" was one of my favorite movies of the year. I think I might qualify for the "seriously twisted" requirement.

not sure if you've been asked this before or not, but:
Do you enjoy the Kevin Smith Askewniverse movies with Jay and Silent Bob??
a few fellow internet gamers claim Malcanthet isn't original enough to be considered a Demon Lord(Lady? Lordess) or whichever rank she has. How would you respond to that?

On the subject of zombie movies, have you seen Dead Snow?
On the subject of google "find chuck norris", this is the result:
" Google won't search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don't find Chuck Norris, he finds you. "
What do you think Chuck Norris thinks of these kinds of things? (The Chuck Norris [x] things that is ...)

I enjoy most of the Kevin Smith movies. Clerks is easily my favorite, and I actually don't mind Mallrats.
As for the other bit... I'm not sure what the complaint is. Are they saying that a demon lord has to be weird or unusual in order to be a demon lord? In which case I disagree, because there's quite a few "classic" demons among them all: Orcus, Graz'zt, Pazuzu, and Baphomet to name just a few. And while Malcanthet's not based on any real-world mythological figure, we COULD have built exactly the same demon lord using the name Lilith or Jezebel or something like that. We didn't do that for D&D... but we DID for Pathfinder, with the creation of Nocticula.
Anyway, I've never seen anything on the internet claiming she's "not original enough" so I have no real response since I don't know the context of their disappointment. Personally, the concept of a super-seductress who manipulates all the other demon lords and presents a beautiful form of evil is pretty important to the game.

How tightly bound are church and state in Cheliax? Would life milestones such as baptism/naming of infants, marriages, and funerals need to be celebrated in the Church of Asmodeus in order to be recognized by the state?
Not that tightly. Cheliax is a complex place; it's actually NOT a place where "the government worships devils."
The government (aka the House of Thrune) are diabolists. They view Hell as a "blueprint for rule," not something to worship. In fact, among the government, the idea of worshiping devils is pretty vile; they view devils as tools that humans should be able to use, not things to venerate or idolize. They allow the church of Asmodeus to operate freely because they know having a state religion helps to control the people, but they fancy that they control the church and that the church exists to serve the government as much as Asmodeus.
The church itself is mostly okay with that situation, because that allows the church unprecedented power and resources, and the church probably views the government as their puppets to be subtly manipulated without them even knowing it.
And ALL of this is more or less exactly what Asmodeus wants for his Machiavellian plans.

There's certainly a chance; we've got parts of the boards set aside for homebrew rules and Play by Post games, after all. I'll look into it.

mmm... did you read it?
(and a false q if you haven't to ignore the first) has the RPGsuperstar items been meeting your expectations so far?
I did not. I DID go see "Harry Potter 7" though, and it was the best of the lot by far.
I haven't actually looked at any of the RPG Superstar items at all. That's why we have a big bank of expert judges on the job!

James,
Why does nobody on Middle-Earth bother to put railings on their bridges?
When are the game rules for Numerian super-science coming out?
Will there be more information on/adventure paths involving Ancient Thassilon? It's my favorite part of Golarion! (Besides maybe Ustalav or Jalmeray).
1) Because the denizens of Middle Earth are more graceful and have more common sense than us Earthlings.
2) There's about a half-page of rules for how to handle Numerian super-science in the Technology section of the upcoming "Inner Sea World Guide" early next year. Beyond that... nothing more to announce yet, but ask me again in a year...
3) We have not finished exploring or investigating Thassilon. In fact, there's a 10 page section about Hollow Mountain (aka the fortress of Runelord Alaznist) in next year's "Dungeons of Golarion."

Will we ever find out more about undersea civilizations, cities, or races? We've had teasers like Voshgurvaghol the abandoned aboleth city in Second Darkness or the fact that Dagon sends his minions from Ishiar into Golarion's oceans to wreck havoc... but we crave more, Mr. Jacobs.
We've been seeding information and building things up to do something pretty cool with those undersea civilizations in numerous products over the past few years. We're not quite ready to DO anything with that topic yet... but we will some day.

KnightErrantJR |

James, a couple of reality altering questions for you.
1. Is there something like Ningauble's Caves in Golarion, or something like D&D's World Serpent Inn? A place where someone can wander in and not realize they may have wandered out into an alternate reality?
2. What did you think of the old "reality ratings" ranking system on the old Manual of the Planes from 1st edition. While I realize it made for some swingy concepts, from an "internal consistency" standpoint, I liked that view of alternate realities and different D&D worlds much better than the "one universe, but using Spelljammer logic" planar set up of 2nd edition.
3. I always liked the concept in Hickman and Weis' Star of the Guardians books, where different sections of the universe had different physics and magical settings, so that magic and science that worked in one galaxy might not work as well the next galaxy over. Would a concept like this gel in Golarion's universe?
