Aside from Beastiary 2, which product coming out in the next year are you most excited about??
What about most interested in using in any personal games your involved??
I'm still hoping that Bestiary 2 will be out this year, but that's more or less down to how long it takes to ship and how long it sits in customs at this point.
As for next year, the book I'm most excited about seeing in print right now is the World Guide: The Inner Sea hardcover revision to the campaign setting.
The one I'm most interested in using in my personal games is "Lords of Chaos," a book that I'm ALREADY using in a few of my games.

So James. I'm having an adventure where obox-ob may make an appearance (stupid pcs want to know whats inside the worldwound tsk tsk tsk) so for lack of a better sculpt I'm painting and gluing together this . Since you know more about obox-ob than I do, do you think it'll be acceptable enough to represent him?

we have a devil book, and soon a demon book, and i'm guessing a deamon book in the works, after that what shall it be? the forces of good (angles, archons and azatza) or individual? or maybe a book on kytons?
If we do books about the good guys, those books would be handled differently. The framing device for the devil book and demon book is "The Book of the Damned" after all; that book doesn't care about angels and azatas.
That said... we have PLENTY of bad guy outsider races to cover still: daemons, divs, qlippoth, kytons, rakshasas, oni, demodands, asuras, etc.
As for what's next in the book series... I know, but now is not the time to reveal that to the public.

That's pretty close. Nothing on there for scale, alas... Obox-ob is BIG, though. And the toughest part about Obox-ob stuff is the fact that his head is actually on the tip of his tail...
But overall, that mini's pretty close.

Jeremy's first choice is closer; the beast of Nurgle doesn't look scorpion enough.

Well... in the meantime, make sure to check out Pathfinder Adventure Path #46. It's not only going to have a big Lovecraftian adventure in it, but also a double-sized bestiary filled with Lovecraftian monsters. As in actual monsters created by Lovecraft presented in Pathfinder stat glory.

Ok, I'm looking at playing a halfling cavalier riding a T-rex until 7th lvl then possibly switching over to a Raptor at 7th.
Where's the most likely place a character like this would be from? I'm thinking Mwangi somewhere or Sargava but what would you say the most likely place is for him to be from?
Also, would this be PFS legal? I can't see that it isn't since the T-rex is an acceptable animal companion and would be large enough for the halfling to ride.
Last question, is this trying to get too much Eberron in my Golarion?

I thought his heads were scorpion tails and he had a skull where his tail would be... and that he was supposed to be more like a centipede?

Ok, another question, does your mount count as an ally for feats such as gang-up and for abilities like Tactician? I would think yes for Tactician, but not sure how mounts would work with Gang-up, since a mounted character would then be two allies adjacent for another character, while your mount and one outer would work for you if you had the feat...

maybe we can have lovecraftian monsters set in line with the books of the dam type stuff? maybe something like "from beyond the stars"
A Lovecraftian-themed Pathfinder Campaign Setting 64 page book would rock... but it would NOT be part of the Book of the Damned series. That series is about evil outsiders, and the Lovecraft monsters are all over the place when it comes to monster types.

Taking the last question first, yes.
The most likely place for a character like this to come from would be Sargava, the Shackles, or somewhere else in the Mwangi Expanse.
And starting with a T-rex and "upgrarding" to a raptor feels backwards to me. Especially since a T-rex is such an enormous creature in the first place. Also, personally, the concept of NOT switching mount species as you level up is more attractive to me than "swapping out" for a better choice at higher level.
As for whether it'd be PFS legal... I'm not the one to ask that. You'd want to ask Hyrum or Mark. If you DO ask me, I'd say no because it's too outlandish a concept for the PFS campaign, which is not centered in Dinosaur Land, after all.

He's associated with vermin of all type, but he's basically a 'reverse' scorpion; his head at the tail and the stingers where his face should be. He's NEVER been well-illustrated by WotC, in my opinion.

Tactical feats are intended to work with other characters who are capable of making tactical decisions. Animals, with their Intelligence scores of 2, are not capable of making tactical decisions, and thus do not get to share in the power of tactical feats.
Put another way: In order to get full use out of tactical feats, your "ally" needs to be another Player Character, basically. You COULD go the cohort route, I suppose, but that's kind of cheesy.

I've only ever seen the one illustration of him, and I couldn't recall scorpion stingers in it at all. I don't think it fits the descriptions I've read. Do you know where a better illustration might be?

He's been illustrated in "Fiendish Codex I," Dragon 359, Dungeon #150, "Expedition to the Demonweb Pits," and the 4E Demonomicon hardcover that I know of.
He's also one of the demons that I more or less made up 100% without building from previous edition incarnations, so I certainly have my own ideas of how he should look. And while neither of the two minis in question are perfect, something more insectoid (like the first of the two) is more accurate than the less insect looking chap who was the second one.

I wish I could be more creative too be more true to Obox-ob, but this is as good as I could get.

Back again :-)
I enjoyed the collaboration between Open Design and Paizo on the Shore to Sea Module.
Did this prove to be a successful project?
Is it a possible future business model where trusted 3rd party companies can write official Pathfinder modules subject to the Paizo editing and time-lines?
Did it make the editing process any more difficult?
Can we expect future collaborations with Open Design?
I see that Brendan has picked up further work as a freelancer with Paizo.. Is getting on the ground floor with things like Wolfgang's Patronage projects a good way to get noticed by Paizo?

If you could stat and play any fictional character in a PF game, which would it be, and why?
(example answer: "Captain Planet, because I am a hard-core environmentalist and really wonder how he would hold up against a lich.")
Desna or Sarenrae, because they're awesome and that would mean that we'd figured out how to not only stat up epic level characters but deities.

Cool; thanks!
It was a successful project!
We might do something like it again, yeah.
It made the editing process more difficult, but only because it added a fair number of additional, unusual steps. The actual manuscript was in GREAT shape when we got it.
Paizo and Open Design remain buddies, so maybe some day, yeah!
I'm INCREDIBLY impressed by Brendan; not only by his writing, but by his creativity, his knowledge of the game's traditions and history, his rules knowledge, and ESPECIALLY his skill at creating evocative and interesting and easy to understand maps of his locations. I suspect that those same qualities served him well in getting noticed by Open Design in the first place. That said, writing for Open Design or ANY game company, and doing so well, is a GREAT way to get noticed by Paizo. Not only because we read a lot of games from other companies and notice good work, but because all us industry folks chat with each other and often trade freelancer names back and forth.

Given Rovagug's place in Golarion, where does the leave Obox-Ob? Is he in Golarion?
That's a fun question.
In my homebrew game, Obox-ob WAS the primary bad guy god. He basically had the exact same role as Rovagug does in Golarion. (Rovagug in my game was a different deity—a god of the underdark and of nightmares and of spiders.)
When I included Obox-ob in Fiendish Codex for Wizards of the Coast, I basically signed away the character and sold it to WotC. Which was kind of only fair, since the name "Obox-ob" I got from the list of "other demon lords" from the 1st edition Monster Manual 2. Obox-ob was a made up name, as far as I've been able to tell over the past 3 decades or so of demonic research, since there's no mythological information about him/her/it at all (If someone knows of some, please let me know!); there was only a cool name that I assume Gygax made up to round out the list of other demon lords.
Anyway, Obox-ob is now the property of WotC, so we can't use him at all in Golarion. So when it came time to develop Golarion's pantheon of deities, while I really would have loved to put Obox-ob in there, I could not. So instead he got his roles split between Lamashtu (who inherited his role as the boss of all demons) and Rovagug (who got a promotion to the giant bug god of the end of the world).

the beastiary talks about how some souls can spontaneously turn into higher levels of fiends/celestials, is there (and if not can there be) a table for deeds that will get souls upgraded (maybe a chart)?
Nope.
This topic is covered in a bit more detail in both "Lords of Chaos" and "Bestiary 2" though.

Coming up on 39 in a couple months. Been playing RPGs since 1981 or thereabouts. Been obsessed with demons pretty much all that time, mostly because Demogorgon had the most hit points of anything in the entire Monster Manual AND he had dinosaur legs.

Like figuring out what's happening after those ellipsises?
And it's not a hobby for me anymore. I've been getting paychecks to write about demons for YEARS!

If a struggling writer had a really kickin' idea for a short story or novel set in Brevoy involving an emotionally fire and ice team of a rapier weilding paladin and the sorcerer con man in her charge, what would be the neccessary procedures (if any) to get permission to use the setting in a potentially publishable work (if at all possible)?

1) If you want to publish it as fanfiction and not make money off of it, you can use the Community Use license (click here).
2) If you want to publish it as a print book and make money on it, you have to publish it through our Pathfinder Tales line, and in order to get a novel signed with our Pathfinder Tales line, you have to be an established author.
At some point in the future, we may start actively looking for new talent for our Pathfinder Tales line... but that point is not going to happen this year or the next.

If you could get Richard Pett, Wolfgang Baur, Greg A. Vaughan, Nicholas Logue (please return to RPG writing) and Brendan Hodge in a room together to brain storm an AP:
A) Would having such a concentration of unmentionable horror concentrated in one location be legal in the state of Washington?
B) Would they negate each other and we end up with an AP about fluffy bunnies and high tea?
C) Open the a rift to the far dimentions and as Gnarly Hotep, Coolthulahoop and Shaggoth & Scooboth battle it out to rule the Earth the writers merge and form Mecha-Geek and save the world.
D) Shake the foundations of horror writing and cause Poe, Mary Shelly, Bram Stoker, rotate 90* in their respective resting places in awe at what they produce.
E) They get drunk, tell gaming stories forget what they are doing, suddenly realise what they were there to do put something together on the fly that is cool and amazing any way.
