Ok 3rd try here, I am running a type of post apocalyptic game using the new world of darkness rules. The game has been going on for a while, but started off very slow and we have just gotten up to a good pace, one I hope to keep us at.

It is set in Kentucky in 1998 and based off the book "dies a fire" by S.M.Sterling.

A basic rundown is an event happened, no one knows what caused it, but a blinding white light on March 17, that every felt. After it pass, technology no longer works, cars, electricity, gunpowered and so on.

So the story so far is it is day three, and it's been three days of rain, snow and cold weather with no power, no running water and no firearms. The party was held up in a farm but went into town and got into a brawl that left two of em hurt and 5 men dead. One of the players plan to head north to fetch his lady love while the others where going to try to keep their family/friends safe as the world falls apart.

Now for anyone still interested a few things. World of darkness storyteller system is lethal, it is not easy on combat, its short and it's brutal. Very grim and gritty , as such the game will not be combat heavy as combat is brutal

So I am looking for folks that do not mind the low or brutal combat and can post once a day most weeks.

This is a fun game, and great setting all you role players out there, and Seeker does a great job running it, and the prop's (Map's etc) are outstanding (Especially the horses). Even if you're not real familiar with the new WoD rules, give it some thought, and I'd be glad to help with characters and rules.

NOTE: For those with pre-conceived notions about WoD being all Vampires, Werewolves, and Mages, this rule book is for normal humans, and is very easy to learn, and flexible...But as Seeker said Combat can be very deadly.

I'm very interested! I have some experience playing the NWoD d20 edition by Monte Cook and had a blast. What kind of character creation parameters are we looking at?

hey I can not help it if y'all do not feed the damned horses!

As for the system, it's not d20 or anything d20 like. It's the storyteller system, which is based on dice pools. Its a good gritty system but as I said above you really do not want to be in combat if ya can help it.

And yeah it has nothing to do with the world of darkness setting, I am just using the system.

Every thing in system is stat+ skill+ mods - mods for a total of dice you roll. The you roll your dice which are d10's and only 8,9 or 10's are hit, you reroll a 10 as an extra dice, kinda an exploding dice rule.

I have a copy of the core World of Darkness book. It's been a little while, but I'm still familiar with the system. Are there significant changes between WoD and NWoD? Is there a particular niche you are looking to fill in the party?

Would your book happen to be this one?

Anyhow, lets see, we have a coast guard member, A ex con animal doc and a former military man who now is an insurance investigator.

So make what ya like, it was modern before 3 days past, no magic, ghosts or werewolves and such. I am just using the core rules, not the setting.

Yes, that's the book I have. I will get started on a character write-up.

Coincidentally, I've actually been to Jackson, KY. I'm a grad student in Louisville and I have visited Morehead State University several times for school.

Yeah I am a bit south of jackson but know the area a little. It was close enough for me to know, but not to close to be a bit creepy :)

Got any idea what ya want to go with?

My email in case ya have any questions

Since none of the characters have more than one dot in Medicine, plus the comments on the lethality of recent combat, I was thinking of making a medical professional.

Did I read correctly that all technology is wiped out? Including firearms and such?

Yes, its one of the mysteries of the setting. Tech just does not work. Gunpowder burns but very slow, The players would need to survive without the tech we are so dependent on

And with you it seems we have three active players

Let's keep this bumped up. We'll eventually add another player or two.

Sorry about the delay, guys. Getting back up to speed with the system took longer than expected. I basically had to read the whole core rulebook to refresh myself. I'm ready to go whenever is most convenient.

And here is my character. Please let me know if I have made any mistakes. Thanks!

cool, I'll look over him some time in the morning. If ya can give me some history and such I can work ya in.

Oh and we are on day 5 of the event, no power no running water no knew food coming in. Fun, Fun, fun eh

Here's a rough outline...

Amon is a transplant from Germany, drawn to eastern Kentucky for its beautiful horse country. He doesn't have the land necessary to keep his own, so he takes frequent lessons on the weekends. He's been in the States for a few years and has just a bit of an accent left, usually when he's stressed. He works as an ER physician in the trauma ward in the local hospital. (I didn't know if you wanted to use real-life locations, but I was thinking the Kentucky River Medical Center). He leads a rather lonely life, only socializing at his weekly martial arts class.

That works, the hospital burned down on day two by the way. Anyway you want to spend those days between then and now?

You could also know the Wakelands as they do give riding lessons.

I don't know quite yet. Let me read the thread thus far to get a grip on the storyline first.

I'll warn ya we got off slow. That is my flaw with PBP at times I start off to slow on some of em. This was on of those.
