We are working on getting the APG into PCGen as soon as we can, but I hope you can understand that we cannot give a specific timeframe, as all this work is being done by volunteers who have day jobs and families, but we're doing what we can.

Wasn't being impatient to be rude; just excited because I like PF and PCgen. I appreciaet you guys; What was the expected date again? :)

I didn't take you as rude at all. Just wanted to let you know that it is being worked on. However, the APG has a LOT of new rules, and new mechanics that we need to wrap PCGen around, so it'll take some time.

This re-sparked my interest in PCGen.
When I was using it, I had two issues I couldn't wrap the tool around:
1) it seems that alignment forcibly restricts class selection. What about mid-life change? Say, the obvious example, a NG barbarian switching to LG after a while, and opting for Monk.
2) Pathfinder has been done with backward compatibility, but I can't find the way to do this with PCGen (i.e. allow all 3.5 material, with the Pathfinder bits overriding the corresponding material)
I think these aren't important points priority-wise (especially now that the APG is out), but I wanted to know if it has been raised before... and, if yes, if it has been scheduled.
Many thanks

I'm guessing it's technically possible but exceedingly difficult to do. I doubt their backbone inherently supports it and it is a questionable thing to begin with. If I were you, I wouldn't expect any tool to let you mix and match version together on the fly.
And the only reason Pathfinder is backwards compatible is because it is a mod on the 3e OGL.

Go into your .pcc files for your 3.5 sourcebook files and edit the game mode to make it show up in the Pathfinder load. Where it says GAME:Pathfinder (or something like that, I don't have the files on this computer) change it to GAME:Pathfinder|3.5e or whatever the tag for 3.5 games is. You can look at the correct tag in the .pcc file of a real 3.5 source.
Or create a new game mode that imports pathfinder and 3.5. I forgot how to make a new game mode but you can probably find it in the help files.
What I've done is create a separate source_pf.pcc file to load for pathfinder in the same directory as all the regular 3.5 sourcebooks I've coded by hand. Sometimes I have to make new .lst files for the data. Sometimes I don't.

That'll work, but you'll likely have to do some additional work to get your old sources to actually play nicely with Pathfinder. It may take some tweaking of skills (Hide + Move Silently = Stealth, etc) because Pathfinder won't know what the old skills are and what to do with them. With a little work though, you can get your 3.5 data working with Pathfinder.

Yeah, that's why I have a _pf section in the directory. In sourcebook foo for 3.5, if I want it to come up in pathfinder, I have:
foo.pccfoo_pf.pcc
foo_classes.lst
foo_classes_pf.lst
foo_skills.lst
foo_skills_pf.lst
And so on. That's where I make minor mechanical changes like that.
I don't do this for all sets. ISTR some way in which I made a "MY campaign" file that changed all references to "Hide" and "Move Silently" to "Stealth" before PF came out. I think it worked on creating new characters, but if you loaded a character file that had a skill you told it to forget, it gave you problems.

ad 1) It's true, when you select a class to level up. PCGen prevents you from taking a class that is incompatible with your alignment. However, when you change alignment later, PCGen will automatically change your previous class to the appropriate ex-class and manage your character accordingly. The barbarian from your example would thus become an ex-barbarian/monk.
ad 2) others have answered before me that this is not automatic with 3.5 datasets, no matter how backwards compatible the system was designed, there was no way we could conceivably automate this so that it still works well. Many conversions of 3.5 material require active thought, unfortunately, it's not something you put into a black box and a Pathfinder version comes out at the other end. We have begun creating conversion sets for some of the older Paizo datasets (for example the first adventure path issues). However in many cases (for example, monsters), the conversion is according to the conceptions of the coder that made it. Other people might select different options (for example, additional feats). You might want to take a look at how the conversion sets are done, many are included in the new 5.16.3 RC3 release candidate.

Just got the APG and am loving it; Does anyone know when it is getting updated on PCgen? I GM multiple campaigns and I'd like to start making some NPCs/Pre-gens/Villans using PCgen because I can create them quick and easy.
In the PcGen Yahoo group's Files->Homebrew section I've uploaded my APG Summoner and Feats.
The feats are a work in progress, but the summoner and eidolon are pretty solid.

Cool, thanks I'll have to check it out and see if I can figure out how to integrate it. I don't even understand the lst file thing yet, but I'm picking it up a little at a time
Quick question: I'm using 5163RC3 and before I had a monster template or something box on my summary tab; I had to reload PCGen on my PC and I can't figure out why it's not on there anymore. I liked that feature, but again I'm just not very computer savy
