Players Guide & Community Use

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Once the players guides became PDF only, I began printing out two copies for my players to use. The printer I use was able to extract the data somehow to produce a booklet for Kingmaker, but due to some kind of protection or password issue had to print Council of Thieves 'as is' rather than putting it in booklet form, so I have spiral bound copies of that. Apparently, the Serpent's Skull players guide has the same protection/password issue so I have two questions:

1) Am I violating any Paizo rules by printing these out (or rather by having them printed professionally - I printed copies from my own printer initially, but I prefer the glossy booklet to my dog-eared, plain paper version)?

2) If such a thing is acceptable, is it possible to get an unprotected/unpassworded version, so that my printer can print two copies in nice, spiffy book format rather than being constrained the format of the PDF?

Thanks for any info on this (and apologies if I've already broken the rules - I didnt really consider that there'd be an issue printing free downloads until the printer told me there was a password).

Cheers

AFAIK as long as you don't sell or mass distribute copies, there shouldn't be any problems with printing a copy or two for personal use.

They have stated on several occasions that they're not interested in lowering/removing the current security level of the pdfs though.

And Acrobat Reader does have the "Booklet Printing" option...... I can use it even on simple printers, and it does work quite well.

Cheers - I'll ask them about this, though given they told me it wasnt possible, it makes me think they're not printing directly from Acrobat. Presumably there's some problem with converting from PDF to printing-press format.

We have no problem with people printing a copy of our PDF for personal use, either at home or through a print shop.

(Also, I'm not aware of any differences in our process between those guides that would explain your varying results.)

Thanks for that confirmation. I didnt think it would be an issue until they mentioned the password. If they stress about it I can point them here.

Cheers.
