just saying; when I was in the Army in my non combat mos; and was attached to the 82nd airborne; I was not impressed by most of them folks. Aint saying I am the tuffest or nothing like that; am saying that I thrashed a lot of disrespectful loudmouthed braggarts that thought having a combat mos made them tuff. Silly non coms who dont really no jack. I made them eat their words; sometimes literelly; sometimes push up contests; running; shooting; didnt matter. More than not people who shoot their mouths off cant back it up; those who can dont need to unless there is some point to prove. I spent lot more time than I should of doing extra duty because some punk thought non combat mos's were slackers. Guess they should have checked before hand to find out I did lot of boxing and martial arts, ran track and did hundreds of pushups a day and got in bit of trouble here and there before joining the service. Maybe I am the exception; but lot of non combat mos guys I knew were pretty scary to me and for general toughness; I would match a signal cable dog up against anyone; those boys can hoof it. So non combat mos or combat mos; Army needs the whole team to be double tuff; its when you get cocky you get dead; that or somebody near you pulls a stupid.
joining for college money; hey why not; lots of people do; I knew a lot of people in to pay off college loans; service takes care of you pretty decent; you can save almost everything you make if your wise and like the food and dont have to have every electronic thing in sight and drink way to much alcohol as that gets expensive. You might look into taking your paychecks and buying some of the top 10 stocks that pay dividends; then use your GI bill for college and use you dividend payouts for a little money on the side as your in school; run the numbers and see if it works in your time frame. There are lots of jobs like Chaplins assistant, or cook or driver or whatnot that can fit anyones believes and still contribute to the team effort.

Okay. Let's look again at what I wrote.
1. I said that "I'll" never live there again. Didn't say that you couldn't or shouldn't live there (or Garydee for that matter either).
2. I said that there are a lot of really cool people there.
3. I was sure to put an "IMHO" after the backwards comment. (IMHO means "in my humble opinion" by the way).
4. I said that if you wanted to live there then "more power to you".
5. Having said all that; I'm entitled to my opinion that the state is a crappy place to live, and that I would never want to live there again.
Thanks for the advice; but I'll listen to my own counsel thanks.

Can we please drop this. Stomping our feet has really gotten way out of hand.
Smurf.
Hey, I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't being an jerk. Messageboards are for sharing opinions. And I tried very hard in my post this morning to couch my words with disclaimers and such to soften the blow they might have upon tender ears. Just wanted to bring those attempts to light.
Please feel free to go back to your smurfing....

I wasn't going out on just you, nor just this messed up thread.
