You roll the dice.

Weapon bond allows you to choose a weapon which you gain proficiency with and you can pick the ability which modifies your attack and damage with that weapon. I am only able to get on the internet on my phone right now but Kanok is pretty much finished, i'll have the rest added tomorrow.

Trout - Are you in? You have first dibs, but I'd be interested in Shadow Assassin or Rogue if you don't want the role.

Sorry--been a busy week. I was hoping to hear back from Nightflier on the Undefeatable feats, but barring that I'm in and going Shadow Assassin.

Building it right now so I should be done tonight.

For what it's worth we could definitely afford to have both Rogue and Shadow Assassin. They compliment each other rather nicely.

Sure thing, "Rogue's Mark" would be the only one I'd take at character creation:

Feats:

ROGUE’S MARK (COMBAT)]
When your attacks catch foes off guard, you place a
magical mark upon them which makes your attacks more
deadly.
Prerequisites: Ability to cast arcane mark, sneak attack
+2d6
Benefit: When you successfully deal sneak attack damage
to an opponent, that opponent becomes marked by your
arcane mark for a number of rounds equal to the number
of dice you possess in sneak attack. When you attack an
opponent who has been marked in this way, your weapon
bypasses any damage reduction that your opponent
possesses and your critical threat multiplier increases by 1
(e.g., from x2 to x3). You may only mark each individual
opponent in this manner once per day, and this use of
arcane mark does count against the number of times you
may cast the spell per day (if applicable).

GREATER ROGUE’S MARK (COMBAT)
Foes you mark with your magic suffer even more from the
wounds you inflict.
Prerequisites: Ability to cast arcane mark, sneak attack
+4d6, Rogue’s Mark
Benefit: In addition to the benefits from Rogue’s Mark,
your critical threat range increases by 1 for every 2 dice in
sneak attack you possess when you attack foes you have
marked (e.g., it increases from 19-20 to 16-20 with 6d6
sneak attack). This ability does not stack with other abilities
which improve your critical threat range.

STRIKE FROM THE SHADOWS (COMBAT)
You use the cover of darkness to great advantage in
combat.
Prerequisites: 3+ ranks in Stealth, sneak attack class
feature
Benefit: When you make a sneak attack in an area of dim
light against characters without darkvision or the ability
to see in darkness, you gain a +1 bonus to your attack roll
and your sneak attack damage increases by 1d6. In areas
of total darkness, this bonus increases to +2 to attack and
2d6 extra damage. With 10 or more ranks in Stealth, these
bonuses double. You must still be able to see your opponents
in order to sneak attack them, either by attacking
from a dark area into a lit area, or through the ability to see
in darkness.

RAIN OF DEADLY STRIKES (COMBAT)
You can deliver a devastating flurry of attacks against
unwary opponents when wielding two weapons.
Prerequisites: Dex 15+, sneak attack class feature, Two-
Weapon Fighting
Benefit: While wielding two weapons, whenever you
successfully deal sneak attack damage to an opponent,
every following successful attack you make against that
opponent until the beginning of your next turn deals an
additional 1d6 sneak attack damage. This bonus increases
with multiple successful sneak attacks (e.g., after making
two successful sneak attacks, your next attack deals +2d6
damage).

Shadow Crafting
You are able to create magical areas of darkness.
Prerequisites: 5 or more ranks in Spellcraft, shadowdancer
level 3rd
Benefit: Once per day per level of shadowdancer you
possess, you are able to imitate the effects of a darkness
spell. Your caster level

Shadowy Critical [Combat ]
Your critical hits are more effective while you attack from
the shadows.
Prerequisites: Dex 15+, shadowdancer level 5th
Benefit: Whenever you score a critical hit while both you
and your target are within a dimly lit (or darker) area, you
gain a +2 bonus to your attack roll to confirm the critical
hit and the damage multiplier increases by 1 (for example,
from x2 to x3).

Summon Greater Shadow
The shadow companions you can summon are more
powerful and resilient.
Prerequisites: Cha 13+, shadowdancer level 3rd
Benefit: The shadows you summon with your summon
shadow class feature gain the following improvements: an
additional +4 bonus to Will saves made made to halve the
damage from positive channeled energy; total hit points
equal to three quarters of your total rather than half; and
an additional +1 Strength damage per four shadowdancer
levels you possess when it successfully damages a creature
with its incorporeal touch. Additionally, if the shadow is
destroyed or dismissed, you are able to replace it after 20
days rather than 30, as normal.

I noticed in the Legate class that Magni can't choose a sect till next level, which brings up a couple of questions.

1) Does she have longsword proficiency as a Legate of Izradore with the War domain, and pick up whip when she chooses a sect? Does she still have longsword if she picks up whip next level?
2) Does she use Charisma as her casting stat, thought she can't choose the Sisters of Tender Mercies for another level? If this is the case she only has 0 level spells till next level.
3) I'm assuming the command undead feat replaces the Rebuke undead class feature?
4) When I choose a sect (sisters) a new domain becomes available (Inquisition), and Magic which I had chosen becomes prohibited. Do I just switch these domains when I choose the sect?
I'm beat so I'll post what I have put in so far, and finish up tomorrow.
5) I have purchased a Heavy Trained Warhorse. Since Astrix possess normal animals, is it OK for the horse to have the Astrix inside.
I'm in a hurry right now, so I'll answer your questions over the weekend.

1) For now, she is standard Legate. That means that she uses long sword until she chooses sect. Per the rules, she should replace the long sword with the whip, but I'm gonna rule that she keeps both weapon proficiencies.

2) Once again, that should be the case. But she can use Charisma as casting stat from the 1st level.

3)Yes.

4) Yes. And you apply domain powers retroactively. You just replace Magic with Inquisition.

5) Yes. And you can use stats for Hardukan horse:

Hardukan
Large Animal

Hit Dice: 5d8+15 (37 hp)
Initiative: +1 (Dex)
Speed: 60ft. (12 squares)
Armor Class: 16 (-1 size, +1 Dex, +6 natural), touch 10, flat-footed 15
Base Attack/Grapple: +3/+12
Attack: Hoof +8 melee (1d6+5)
Full Attack: 2 hooves +8 melee (1d6+5), bite +3 melee (1d4+2)
Space/Reach: 10 ft./5 ft.
Special Attacks: --
Special Qualities: --
Saves: Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +2
Abilities: Str 20, Dex 12, Con 17, Int 2, Wis 13, Cha 7
Skills: Listen +6, Spot +8
Feats: Endurance, Run

Environment: Any land.
Organization: Domesticated
Challenge Rating: 2
Advancement: --

Hardukan are a particularly stout breed of heavy warhorse that is trained to bear a legate and fight on his behalf. They are completely loyal to their legate masters, and will fight to the death to protect them.

Carrying Capacity: A light load for a hardukan is up to 325 pounds; a medium load, 326–650 pounds; a heavy load, 651–975 pounds. A hardukan can drag 4,875 pounds.

Ah, that's right.

I had been planning/hoping to use the Rogue trick Minor Magic. But magic indeed does work differently...Hmm, So maybe that's not an option.

Decius Norfire wrote:

Shayla what does the Weapon Bond do?

I'm thinking of getting a longsword also so I can be a warlord since bastard sword is not good for it.

I think your first question was answered but for her it allows her to use dex as her fighting attribute for one weapon. You can use any attribute you want to replace strength. I wanted to use bastardsword but the Soldier Legate's descriptor in the Campaign setting said they have to have weapon focus longsword, so I went that route.

Actually, I wanted to do something with this for Chops' sidequest that nightflier is letting us all do. This new campaign will allow my to do it with stakes for both involved, since now Shayla is a PC and not an NPC.

Yeah, this will be interesting, to say the least. Just keep Solvi alive, in the meantime, he he.

Thanks Kanok, Yeah I noticed most prestige classes use the Longsword and I wanted the Warlord prestige class but have the Bastardsword guess I have to change that again. Can you multiclass to legate later on or is it better to take a level now?

I guess I just assumed that the Pathfinder rules would override the Midnight rules since Dorns are human. I want her to be a Dorn for atmosphere, and possible future inter-reaction, so I'll adjust her Charisma downwards, and her Strength up.

Welcome Kiron ^^

Male Orc, Tribe Moon mother, convert: White Mother Sect 3/wildlander

I know it’s a stretch but I was hoping to play something more creepy and miniony, shadowy evil than what I have access to at the moment. SO here is what I was hoping.

If you are up for it I would like to play a summoner from the Eidolon side of things. Flavor wise it would have been an eidiolon that tricked a pale legate into summoning it and rendered the summoner into a trance(praise be to Izrador). So, that would take away the summoner side of the class. No spells, no summoning other summons.

out of the 1st three levels I would be able to use two of the abilities. Cantrips, Eidolon, Life link, Summon monster Bond senses 3 Summon monster II

I would however have access to a couple of key abilities, Life link and bond senses.
Life link would give me the ability to transfer damage to the pale legate(summoner) strapped to the back of the eidolon. I would also throw the legate side into as heavy of armor as possible, as he won’t be casting spells and would hold the eidolon on the plane, if you take out the summoner you get a two for one on the eidolon.

I would still level the character up as normal on both sides and would like access to the summoner’s skills and feats through the bond senses.

At level four I would like to reverse the shield ally to benefit the eidolon if possible.

Now considering all of the things I will be giving up in this class, the summoner’s actions, attacks, spells, and a descent amount of the abilities of the class over time, I was hoping to gain an extra evolution point per class level. I would still adhere to the level limitations of the evolutions and the lack of being able to wear armor for the eidolon, so this would make up for some of what I am giving up.

In the cases that I can use the abilities, albeit creatively, I will try to, we can discuss the applicability as the level goes higher. What do you think?

You know, I was already thinking on a way to incorporate Summoner in Midnight. Your idea is interesting, but there are some problems with it: Healing and special nature of summoned creatures in Midnight. I'll have to think on it.

The idea is great, but there are practical considerations - such as healing. I would be more inclined to allow you to play straight Summoner with 1 spell point per level and the other stuff as is.

I'm still writing out a background. I always end up going overboard on them, be done tomorrow though.

Hey, Nightflier, I've been away on vacation, with surprisingly little internet access or even cell coverage. I'll take a look at things, but it might be best if you just move on with the game without waiting for me.

Hmmmm . . . . looks like ya'll didn't get that far, so let me see what I can figure out. So far, you have:

Scranford playing Silent Magni, a human legate
Chops playing Shayla Aegir, a female human legate
Dieros playing Decius Norfire, a human fighter
grmnbln playing Kanok Steelbrother, an orc fighter
Trout? playing a shadow assassin?

If Trout's in, and I can get my s%~% together, I may go with a crazed dwarf madbomber type alchemist, if not, then a psychopathic rogue.

I have several questions - you are Neutral. I need to have very good reason to accept neutral cleric of Izrador. Do you intend to switch sides at some point? The other thing is, why did you went with 18 Strength? You don't need it. You could have went with little bonus to Wisdom so that you can take only one Charismatic trait, and use the other one to take Weapon Bond (Charisma) and use your additional points to raise Charisma even further. I like your background. You can take bonus feat, or replace the feat with one additional trait.

Magni is neutral for a couple of reasons. She really has never been exposed to good in her life, and doesn't do what she does for evil's sake, simply that she's got no reason or knowledge to do otherwise. I don't intend to switch sides, but would like to have that option in case something happened to make her change. Her family and she have just always been servants of the Dark Lord, and her training the same.

I'm not much on trying to max out characters using the rules. I had the image of a fearsome Legate that's stronger and more intimidating than just about anyone she meets. She will eventually try to go armorless and expose more of her muscles and other assets, when she finds a way to get her AC higher.

I hate the Weapon bond feat, and think it is about the most unbalanced feat in the history of OGL, so I refuse to use it. Just a personal thing.

Oops. I wanted to use a Bastard Sword, but in the Soldier Legate description in the Campaign Setting Guide, it says that a Soldier Legate has to have longsword Weapon Focus. I forgot to switch the Weapon Bond as well. Unless the Soldier Legate PrC trumps what is said in the campaign guide. I would prefer bastard sword.

Yeah I had bastard sword also, but Warlord PrC class requiers longsword so I changed it.

I've got a psychopathic rogue stated out, and just need to fill 'em in and work on the background. He's an evil, scarred, sadistic bastard who would be during horrible things, regardless of the Shadow. Legates will probably find him a bit irreverent of Izador at times, but he's happy to put his talents to use, rather than being a hunted man. He's also a dirty/guerilla fighter, taking any advantage he can and striking while wielding two short swords, relying on strength rather than finesse. Introducing:

You get Bastard Sword proficiency as racial ability and long sword as class ability. You need to know how to use long sword, but only at basic level. You can freely continue to improve bastard sword usage. You get a bonus background feet.

You get Bastard Sword proficiency as racial ability and long sword as class ability. You need to know how to use long sword, but only at basic level. You can freely continue to improve bastard sword usage. You get a bonus background feet.

I took BlindFight as her bonus feat. A result of her going months at a time with burnt out eyes. I'll take another one if you want ;D

Or do I get one more?
