Just had to get that off my chest. Carry on.

Around here, it's not that some of my co-workers are incompetent. It's just that they don't care to be competent. It cuts into their f#~*-off time.

That'd make a great status message!

That is funny. I haven't seen anything that awkward, but I have seen some bad mistakes.

A prime example is people using the reply to all when we fully integrated into the new (not so new now) system, NMCI. It sent the email to everyone in the system. Did I mention that NMCI stands for Navy Marine Corp Internet? Yup, people were sending out emails to about a million people at a time, everyone in the USN and USMC. I really got tired of having my inbox cluttered with emails (not concerning anything related to me) from people in San Diego and everywhere else. It should be noted that such emails were bad to print because they will often have a section listing all the people that received that sending of mail...

That seems to have stoppped a while back so some sort of correction was made.

Given the job that you do for a living, how's the security being ramped up since the whole Wikileaks debacle?

I doubt it. But, yeah, it seems those two have chosen to ignore everyone else and just talk to each other. No big loss in my book.

Just cause it's her favorite store doesn't mean she likes everything from there. She is also notorious for re-gifting gifts. So far she has liked every single gift I've ever given her so the pressure is on!

Only walked into that store once. Foolish to think I could purchase a pair of jeans shorts at the time. When I saw them for $100 and change, I had a heart attack. Dropped the item, and promptly left the store never to return.

Quick question (especially for those of you with little ones...)

Spoiler:
Should a 3rd grade/4th grade classroom have a graphic novel of Dracula in the classroom for the kids to read when they want to?

The class is learning about alternative reading "medium" and my son saw that and started reading it. He came to some point where (I believe) Dracula was offering babies to other vampires to eat. Really freaked him out to the point where it has been difficult for him to sleep. My wife confronted the teacher but the teacher felt that there is nothing wrong with it.

So are we just being over-protective, overly concerned parents, or is a graphic novel representation of Dracula not exactly appropriate material for a 3rd and 4th grade classroom?

Celestial Healer wrote:

(Which makes me the opposite of my mother, who can't cook for anything, but bakes the most amazing breads, pies, cookies, and cakes you've ever had in your life.)

Sorry about the cookies. It always sucks when you spend a lot of time on something and it doesn't work out.

I'm more of the baking type myself. Not that I'm a bad cook, but I need a recipe to work with which is limiting. Baking I find much easier to ad lib.

Moff Rimmer wrote:

Spoiler:
Yeah, I would say that Dracula is too old for that age. Especially with the baby eating. Way too mature. There are plenty of good graphic novels that are appropriate for that age and younger, so that's just way out of line. I would say, that I would not find issue with that book being in a sixth grade classroom though.

So after the last week of utter frustration with the kidlet, Dan got home from his work trip and immediately sent me out for a sanity break. So I went to see Tangled. It was so awesome! I loved it. The animal companions didn't talk, the soundtrack was good, the animation was amazing, it was funny. It's one of my new favorites. :)

And I am now completely done with my last class of the term. Woo-hoo! The house is clean after spending the last three days shoveling out the mess. The last time it was clean before this was well.....ummmmm.....sometime before midterms I think. heh. And this afternoon I will put up the Christmas tree. And then making a list of all the stuff I'll need to make holiday goodies. Gotta make cookies of course. And gingerbread. And stollen. And at least one batch of (blech) fudge (the blech is from having made way too much of this stuff over the years). Looking forward to the cookies especially since we bought star wars cookie cutters. My Christmas cookies this year will be in the shapes of death stars, x-wings, and tie fighters. :)

So, because of the light snow we had last night, and the road problems it caused on the way home, my wife wanted to ride with me today to work. Normally, we ride separately on Friday, I get in for 0600 and can leave early to go run errands.

So, I said yes and waited for her. We got in at 0700 - just an hour later and not too much of an impact, since she actually needed 1/2 hour less time than I did to make 80 hrs. We could leave when I was done - 1300.

She calls me up about 1240 and says - oh we have to stay because I've got this thing that needs getting done and the other guy is out of the office (as usual) so I have to stay and do it.

So, now I have to sit here and wait for her. All the while, the sun has come out today and melted what little snow was left on the ground, making the roads no more dangerous than usual.
