If this was true, most of us would look like the D&D characters we played IRL.

Or in my case, seriously sh@tface drunk.

Well, on the bright side, got the kidlet's retake pictures back today and he's actually smiling in them. In a non-frightening manner. I didn't know he could do that. ;)
And I've managed to get my room cleaned today. I can once more see my desk. And even more impressive, I have untangled the pile of jewelry and makeup on my dresser. :)
And the kidlet found a really good sledding hill in the courtyard so he's nice and worn out after his afternoon exercise. I will make spaghetti for dinner since Dan is traveling for work and therefore won't complain that we have spaghetti too often and I will not curl up in a ball and cry out of sheer frustration. :)

Edit: I may however open up that bottle of wine after the kidlet goes to bed. The probability is becoming increasingly high.

I had a fun night of gaming last night. So no complaints here, I also have to prepare to run the D&D Encounters program tonight at my FLGS.
What do you think of that so far?
D&D Encounters is like D&D light. Basically little to no chance for roleplaying 1 encounter of combat per night. I prefer my tuesday night gaming sessions by far.

Incidentally, we had a similar discussion about this topic on the drive over to our Tuesday night game yesterday evening. We've came to similar conclusions.

But hell yeah. Thx for the sanity check.

Just melancholy today. Layoffs at work. :(

I say kill them all, let a possible higher power sort them out or not. ;)

Why can't it be a lower power? Or a tenth dimension power? Or a far realms power? Or pizza? I'd settle scores with pizza.

Also had a good moment earlier when I was starting to work on my level raise and realized that I had totally missed that Pathfinder has more magic item slots allowed than 3.5 which meant I could finally get my poor character that much needed wisdom boost. It's fun shopping for a high level character. We'll probably never play to this high of a level again so I'm enjoying it while I can. :)

Meh. I can't stand chardonnay. But I have a lovely riesling on hand as well as a bottle of spiced wine. Cancelling sobriety sounds like such a lovely idea. :)

I can't stand a chardonnay that tastes like oak (bloody tree-avores). Buttery ones are great, though.

I bought a bottle of Christkindl Glühwein -- spiced Xmas wine to heat up. And a bottle of sherry.

Leelanau Cellars Witches Brew. My favorite. :)

It's rare to find a spiced wine that isn't so heavy on the cloves that it makes your tongue go numb, so I really appreciate this one.

The only chardonnays I've ever tasted all tasted like they were essence of wood chips. I've never had one that tasted buttery.

Hmmm...and I read where it can go well with sangria. I see it's a Northern MI wine and I suspect it's a regional, so I'm not sure I'd have as much luck finding it down here unless I order direct. Price seems reasonable.

Yep, it's definitely a regional wine. I mostly buy local wines on account of the price being pretty low for usually good product.

Talk to the wine staff. I don't know if they have Central Markets or World Markets where you guys are, but there are often knowledgeable and helpful staff in the wine dept's there. Whole Foods might also be a good bet. Getting rid of the oak is easy: some even now have "unoaked" labels now. Then you have to start asking and experimenting around for the Chardonnay you like best. Asking sommeliers in restaurants is also a way to find stuff.

Toad Hollow makes a drinkable unoaked Chardonnay, but it's not the magical mouth full of butter that I found in a New Jersey winery, that I'm far away from and whose name I don't even remember now.

I guess I used to be in that militant angry atheist group. But all those negative angry emotions came from the abuse I suffered at the hands of my family and church I grew up in. Until I started getting out in the world and realizing not every church is like the one I suffered abuse from. It took many years for me to get over it, I made an ass of myself more than a few times, and even to this day I try hard not to be that kind of angry person. I generally think anger like that comes from abuse and ignorance.

E7:
I think that it's mostly natural human nature. If something good comes along, we want to either take credit for it (I prayed especially hard) or give credit to a "good" source that's on our "side". If something bad comes along, we want to blame something malevolent that we have no control over (like Satan) or just simply "s~*$ happens" -- because our "good source" couldn't possibly let something like that happen because then he wouldn't be on our "side".

Also, people want some "purpose" or "reason" to their lives. We want our lives (or deaths) to mean something so people often will squeue their perceptions to make that happen.

We're actually dealing with this with a friend of ours. She lost her baby in childbirth. It was bad. This was seven years ago, but she is really questioning things about it now. "A good God wouldn't allow that to happen to me." "I must have done something that he punished me for in that way." etc. Being outside of it, I know that she wants some kind of justification for what happened. Partially just for her sanity.

Anyway, a bit of additional rambling.

There are World Markets around here. Anderson's General Store also has an extensive wine collection. The best would for me to go down to Cincy to Jungle Jim's International Market. They have EVERYTHING!

An email went out trying to coordinate some type of pot luck thing for an employee who is leaving. (Overkill, in my book, because we're already doing a lunch for her.) Anyway, this girl replies "all" that she's tight on cash, especially considering the money we are getting together for a Christmas present for our supervisor, which she thinks is too expensive. Yeah, the supervisor is on the distribution list.
