Why would you want a way around SMURF???

Ashe Ravenheart wrote:Good vibes headed your way, Ashe! So, after being in the job market for the last year, I'm trying not to keep my hopes up on this past interview. But it's hard not to. I mean, they paid for my airline ticket and rental car to come out to PA this weekend, arranged an interview on a Sunday afternoon, took me out to lunch before the interview, spent a total of over 2½ hours with me, discussed possible starting dates and when they will have a meeting that I could meet all the employees and finally, talked about salary, bonuses, benefits and vacation time.
In short the only thing they didn't do is give me an offer.
+1!!

Shoes cover the feet and keep one from being hurt when one steps on sharp things. Shoes are also required in most public places. They are expensive and good at tripping one in the dark.
Them are shoes.
but....but....shoes are pretty! well, they should be. no one likes ugly shoes. and they come in so many delightful colors and styles....

and now to venture back into the cold to fetch the kidlet. then i will be forced to sit out on the benches by the playground even though it's snowing because trying to put wild kidlet into a car is...yeah, not so much. not looking forward to this. i do homework to pass the time and you can always tell afterwards cause the writing gets a little shaky when i start shivering.

Good news this morning, The staffing agency I recently went to thinks they might have a position that I would be suited for. I go in on Wednesday to discuss. Hopefully this works out. here is the track record the old staffing agency that I was with over 5 weeks no leads, the new one I have been with has been for three weeks but only two count because one was the week of Thanksgiving and really bad timing for that time of year.

People who try and smell coke don't fare so well either.

OK, random off-topic rant:
Why the F$@% have there been so many "hurr srs bznis" threads in the OTD recently. I know that *most* of the people who start them have good intentions and want to see other people's opinions, but come on, you know they're just going to devolve into flamewars.
What's the deal with all of the gloom, doom, and anger? I get enough of that in real life, and I don't appreciate seeing it here.

Oh, yes, I love boots. I used to have a pair of combat boots with heels, but they wore out. But aside from snow boots, no boots for me until I get in better shape. Well, maybe some ankle boots, but that's it. My calves are too fat for the taller boots just now.

Thanks. Just really frustrated right now. But trying not to dwell on it. Better to think about shoes instead. :)
And why is it that all of the snow boots are so very ugly? Ugg is an apt description to go with the brand name. :/
Okay, they may be the most comfortable boots ever, but still.

lol. They look like something from an old caveman movie. I am reasonably certain it is possible to make comfortable boots that don't look like refugees from the stone age. And they do awful things to your feet due to a lack of arch support. No, I have no idea why they are so popular. Because people are idiots?

I would like shoes more, if some would fit me.
Even the clerk at Naturalizer said "Sorry, we don't make shoes your size."
grrr.
Umm...what size are we talking about here? Cuz I think I know a few places in Brooklyn that could help you out, in all seriousness. One place down the street from my job specializes in custom shoe jobs.

It's crazy, I get shoes at Payless Shoe Store in west Michigan - but can't find shoes that fit in Houston.
My feet are larger than average, but I wouldn't say they're crazily huge - size 10 wide width. But I fall just enough outside the norm that it's a serious pain to find anything that fits. Any shoes at Naturalizer that don't look like they would be bought by a nearly blind octogenarian doesn't come in wide width in size 10. It's crazy.
When I went home to west Michigan over the holidays the first thing I did is buy shoes. There's enough Dutch people with enormous feet there that I found two pair without any problem.
