Hey, look, it's my student group.
Don't know what to say about that one.

So instead of ranting about how very, very much I hate my bio prof I went and made a couple silly aliases. It helped a bit, but still....
Sigh. I have plans today. I used my one free night of the week to do this week's assigned reading only to have it announced today that the chapter in the syllabus was wrong and that I was supposed to read a totally different chapter, which he expects us all to read before tomorrow. I'd say what I think about that (since this is sadly typical behavior from this prof) but the language filters prevent. :/

It's unclear if Tobey's going to star in Robotech or not. He signed on as a producer, so he can if he wants, but there's been no official word on it for a while now. (It's in development limbo)

Hnn. Fair enough. One must be careful on that site.

I'm still bitter about that show, if only because Jessica Alba LOOKED JUST LIKE ALITA/GALLY!!!!Aren't Dark Angel and Battle Angel Alita, you know, completely and utterly unrelated? Besides both being cyberpunk stories starring hot women in black, or course.
Originally, Dark Angel WAS supposed to be a live action Battle Angel Alita- the flagship to what was rumored to be several live-action American versions of popular Japanese manga. Somewhere along the line in development, the guy behind it lost his nerve and made it into something else, which is why the 3rd season(or whichever one has the funky DNA storyline) seemed so ill-fitting. However, take a look at the cast. Jessica Alba is a dead ringer for Gally, especially when she still had that scrumptious baby fat. The love interest looks exactly like Ido. Sure, there were more than few liberties taken with the plot, but still, it's fairly obvious.

Clearly, we must kung-fu fight. There can be only one.

Hmm. Maguire's certainly a geek's geek, but we'll have to see what he comes up with. I wonder as to the hardcoreness of his otaku chops.

But the plots aren't even that similar! The concepts aren't either! One's a genetically engineered human grown by the military, the other is a full-body cyborg that a kindly doctor found in the junkyard and decided to nurse back to health! They don't even look that much alike! The biggest similarities I can think of are that both are post-apocalyptic cyberpunk that star black-haired women and are connected to James Cameron in some way.
(Why am I arguing about this? No one really wants to see people arguing about the connection or lack therefore between a tv series from the start of this millennium and a manga/anime from the nineties.)

Thing is, if he's going to be in the movie, there's only one person I think he should play: Max Sterling.

Sure we do. Fact of the matter is, I loved Dark Angel and wish it along with Firefly were still on the air. Or had 10 years of programing anyway.

Of course they do. I think we're on Pay Per View. Some large men came over and asked me to take a dive in the 4th round.
I realize the plots aren't that similar ANYMORE...originally it was supposed to be much, much closer. Think back. Didn't the city look an AWFUL LOT like the scrapyard? Remember the adverts for it? It was supposed to be Gally standing on one of the beam/pylon/thingies for Tiphares, but it was changed to something else. The evidence is there, you just have to blur your vision a bit.
Also, have you played the AMAZING Gundream game for Playstation? One of the darkest and most immersive games I've ever seen.

Hnn. Can't see him as playing Max Sterling. I'd still love to see him in the movie though.

Ugh. How awkward. I think the value of these introductions was questionable. There were so many people, it's not like they will remember everyone. Meh. Some were decent though.

Well then, I guess we're just going to have to give them a good show.
Anyway, they're both post-apocalyptic cyberpunk. Of course they have similar visual themes and use several of the same tropes and all that. So, either Dark Angel's roots are really well hidden or you're just slightly delusional. Unless you can pull up some secret memo to back you up, I'm going to assume the latter.
Also, the most advanced non-handheld console I've ever played is a Super Nintendo my parents won in a raffle. Even if I had a Playstation, I probably wouldn't of even looked at the game because I read so whenever I see Gunnnmmmmm (or however it's spelled) I expect giant robots fighting with laser swords. Besides, I completely suck at action games.

How's the impending broodling coming along AZ?
Well enough, I suppose. At least that's what the wife tells me. He seems to be kicking and moving more, and likes to do it when I'm talking to her on the phone.
I'll be done here in California in another week, then I get to go home and see how much the wife has grown since I left.
