Postan- FROM AMTRAK!!!
Okay. Let it be known that Sabrina was right- I should have taken Amtrak. This is the exact opposite of the trip I took via Delta- the train was only about 40 minutes late, I fell asleep as soon as I got on, and it has been utterly picturesque even though I'm not sitting next to the window. I've seen more farmland and general greenery of this gorgeous country than I ever saw whilst flying over it, and I can't wait to go somewhere by train again. As I write this I'm in DC, and I'm not sure how much longer I'll have an internet connection for, so I'm just going to post this now. I'll post again once I've returned home victorious.

I've always wanted to take a trip via Amtrak. It seems like it would be a bit more relaxed than air travel, even if the travel time is longer.

We are at work, too. So far, 44 minutes after opening, not one customer. Other Sundays are jammed by now. Go figure. I'm enjoying the peace and quiet, frankly.
StudPuffin, sweetie, did you actually unlock the front door?
Yeah, how else would I set up the street sign? I have mystical powers of teleportation, OoOoOoOoOoooo!

Excellent. Let's lock up and you can teleport us home!

Anybody talked to the badger?
I know that times like these, while sad, are also always very busy. There's always a million things to be attended to, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's incredibly busy right now.
We'll have to post lots of silliness for him to catch up on when he has a chance, though.
Indeed; it always strikes me as kind of surreal and hurtful how much legal and financial and logistical stuff needs to be taken care of rather quickly when a loved one dies.

It's almost a blessing in disguise. Gives you something else to think about.... until you realize exactly what you're doing.

Postan- from home.
I've made it. I'm a bit lighter in the pocketbook, but I'm home safe, and I guess you can't put a price tag on that, right? RIGHT?!?!? I'd say no, but never mind that. My wife and two of my friends I had stuff for from the con were there when I got in, so I was able to give stuff out as soon as I walked in the door, which was great. I leapt into the smidgen of housework that was there for me when I got in despite the wife's complaints, and now I am decompressing. I'll just pay some bills and enjoy the stuff I got at the con instead of buying new stuff over the next fortnight. I'm not sure if I'll get any scratch from the second job this wednesday since I was away this past week and a half, but that would certainly be a pleasant surprise. Here's hoping I have a nice week and a half with the absolute minimum of surprises....

... Although I'm not really tired, and the laptop is right here by the bed.
The one thing plaguing me lately (well, okay all the time) is why can't I win the lottery just once? I'm not even talking the big payout, just enough to take me out of debt. Is that too much to ask? :P
~grins~ I ask myself the same thing. Hell, just enough to pay off some of these debts and get the house repaired. That is all.

I'm also tired. Not the "time for bed", but the "I give up" kind of tired. I'm working on getting a job back home so I can move back to my friends & family. I'm tired of waiting, I'm tired of employers that won't give you a "yes/no" answer and I'm tired of being in an industry (web developer) where every job listing I see has 20 job requirements and none of them match to the next job listing.
I'm tired of going over to the WotC boards to get scraps of information and seeing every announcement by them splinter the fan base again (3E vs 4E) and again (4E vs Essentials) and again (Booster card 'randomization'). I'm tired of watching the ENnie awards on NeonCon and hearing WotC fans claim the awards are rigged because it's a popularity vote, yet the 'most popular' game (4E) was snubbed by the nomination judges. I'm tired of edition wars BS, especially when most of the flames I see are started by 4E players bad-mouthing 3.5/Pathfinder.
I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck. I'm tired of the realization that 401k is the biggest piece of crap ever laid on the average worker (I ran into this one when I had to clean out my previous job's 401k to pay a mortgage until the house sold, THEN found out that all that money I put in was subject to taxes after I cashed out - something they never seemed to mention when you sign up for it). And I'm tired of companies laying off hard working folks while VPs and Directors and Chairmen get ANOTHER bonus because this year's income wasn't as bad as last year's, even if it was a loss.
*deep breath*
Okay, I just needed to let that out. Thanks!
