JZ's Master of the Fallen Fortress OOC

Play-by-Post Discussion

1 to 50 of 60 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Hi guys!

Please post any "out of character" discussions on this thread.

The sooner we have characters done by everyone, the better. But I understand if it takes longer than you expect. Let's set a target deadline for this Friday.

Feel free to ask any questions at all, such as how this forum is used for roleplay.

20 point buy.

Maximum starting wealth.

No traits.

Advanced player manual classes are welcome.

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

What's the deadline to submit a character, and when is the target start-date?

EDIT: I'd like to play a wizard or sorcerer, if that's acceptable; can have a character finished later this morning (Central Standard Time, here) . . .

Target deadline is Friday; start-date is the same.

Wizard or sorcerer is fine.

Excellent!

When I finish my character, I'll just post IC for your approval, if that's cool.

Please post the character sheet here.

Wondering if there is any certain format you would like them to be in, or should we just try to emulate the official character sheet?

Any format is fine, since I will transcribe much of the info onto my own spreadsheets. However, if you can put the character sheet in the profile for your character's alias. For example:

http://paizo.com/people/RonduTheRoundMoundOfPound

Sovereign Court

Male Human 20th Level Paladin

Are races from the Bestiary allowed, assuming they have no HD or LA?

Sure.

Sovereign Court

Male Human 20th Level Paladin

Cool, Goblin Ranger will be up soon.

Scratch that, some kind of ranger will.

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

My character's just about finished (human wizard); just finishing up purchasing equipment. Question: can I purchase a potion or scroll for my PC? Not a reduced cost (due to Scribe Scroll), just wondering if that's allowable, if I can afford it.

Otherwise, my character's pretty much done. @DM JZ: You're right; the character creation/profile transfer took a lot longer than I anticipated! :)

I'm going to take a little more time with it since we have till Friday.

What class do you want to play? I think we have a ranger and a wizard, so far . . .

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

Alright, my character is here! Let me know if this format's not up to par . . .

Ok here she is.

http://paizo.com/people/DelpheyDobbs

I used a character generator and found a couple of mistakes I had to fix, such as it did not adjust weight allowance for size, and did not apply the halfling bonus to perception.

I've looked it over several times, but this is my first Pathfinder char, so let me know if I made any mistakes.

Just wanted to note as well, I went with near minimum starting funds as it fit the characters back ground better.

Sure!

Made a few edits to my character. Fixed a miscalculation with touch AC and tweaked her gear just a little bit. Made some changes to improve the readability. Added some calculation details. Made the character profile clickable ->Delphey Dobbs

Am I correct that the halfling bonus to perception does stack with the rogue classes trap finding bonus?

Thanks! A potion of cure light wounds might hit the spot . . .

Yes.

BTW, is MonsterManuel still interesting in playing? We haven't heard from you in this thread yet ...

Dark Archive

Yeah, I am. I'll have something posted soon, most likely playing barbarian or fighter.

One more question about the Trapfinding class ability.

The rule book states that it gives a bonus to perception when detecting traps, and then it tags on that it also gives a bonus to disable device.

There it is unspecific. Is it implied (it seems logical) that the disable device bonus also only applies to traps?

The way they have it worded it sounds like the bonus applies to all disable device attempts. (locks and such)

I posted this in Paizo's rules forum, but no one got back to me.

I posted this in Paizo's rules forum, but no one got back to me.

Let's see . . . from the Core Rulebook:

"A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps."

I'd say that, based on this passage, you'd get a +(1/2 your level, min. +1) to Perception rolls pertaining to finding traps and you'd get the same bonus to Disable Device rolls, period. This makes a rogue the master of noticing traps and disarming them, as well as picking locks or sabotaging devices. Plus, she can disarm magical traps! :)

Of course, I don't know what JZ would rule. That's how I've always read it, though; I hope I was helpful!

Sounds right to me!

Thanks guys. That's how I initially interpreted it but on a later review the name created a logical short circuit.

Really looking forward to getting the game started! Also just got my Gencon badge finalized! Woo-hoo! I'm planning to get into a couple of Society events while I'm there.

Once you get your character done, please make a post on this thread through your character's alias account.

Female Human Wizard (Enchanter) 1

Posting as my character . . .

Character complete.

Male Human Barbarian 1

Ok character's stats are finished. I'll put up background and appearance later today but other than that I'm ready to go!

I'm pretty psyched too!

Are we waiting on Xealot, or have I missed his in-character post?

Think we're waiting on him still.

Xealot's character is the only one I haven't seen, yet.

Dark Archive

Hope he posts soon, I'm eager to start.

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

Yeah, me too. What's your time zone? Central, here.

Est.

We're going to start without Xealot then.

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

Alright; sounds good.

It looks like has made recent posts in other threads. Perhaps you might want to look for an alternate player?

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

*listens to the crickets* . . . Hello? *more crickets*

I'm here. Will start soon.

The game is afoot:

IC thread

Oops had to fix one more error on my character sheet to correct reflex save.

Male Human Expert (GM) / Level ??

Wow, we've not come back to this thread in awhile!

I'd just like to say that this has been quite a fun experience for me. I was a little worried at first that the slower pace wouldn't "feel right", but it actually works out pretty well. JZ, thanks for the maps; what sort of map-tool are you using for those?

As someone who almost never gets to play (I'm generally GM by default), this has been great!

All that said, I wonder if the shocker lizard's shock is going to hurt badly . . .
