Double BAB Fighter with half feats?

Homebrew and House Rules

Liberty's Edge

Hey guys, quick question:

How balanced would a class be, if it were essentially a Fighter that got DOUBLE Base Attack Bonus, yet only got feats at, say, level 1 and 4 and each 4 levels afterwards?

How about Double BAB and no bonus feats at all?

Thanks all :D

Grand Lodge

I have no idea but he should have a d20 HD. :3

The Exchange

maybe not double BAB (he could qualify for some feats waaaay too early) but maybe an insight bonus to attack rolls equal to your level.

Still though, with such a focus in attack rolls, that doesn't seem to be very balanced in any way. Take out the variety to... make sure you hit? Abuse power attack? Abuse power attack and combat reflexes at the same time? What's your angle?

I think the fact that you cannot do this already via feats, suggests it is not balanced.

(I.E. Weapon Focus repeated times). A circumstantial insight bonus however would be worth looking into.

Liberty's Edge

Eh, didn't think so. I'm just a sucker for iterative attacks :P

I guess TWF would be a better solution for that lol

Thanks for the quick response guys :)

Have to agree with the rest, it's not even remotely balanced. If given the option I would take it everyday and never think twice about it.

seems to me like it wouldn't be nearly as good... whats a really high AC? I mean the tarrasque has like, what, 40 AC? Anything higher than that in the bestiary? Getting your attack bonus to 15, 20, or even past 25 is not that hard in pathfinder as you progress. It kind of just happens by accident. It'd probably be really good at low levels and then far away from powerful at later levels. I think I'd take feats any day.

Althought, someone mentioned if it was just straight double BAB it'd rule in low level campaigns where you can get multiple attacks very fast and qualify for later feats pretty early.

umm fighter already get an additonal +5 intrinsic bonus on one of thier weapon groups.

double BAB would basically mean all monster AC's would be too low to matter, and you always hit everything with you first couple of attacks.

and if you followed the BAB rules then at 20th level with +40 BAB you'd have 8 BASE ATTACKS !!!!

putting it another way, at 20th level you have premanent truestrike on your frist attack XD

BAB is one of those things you don't really want to mess with becuase it's such a core part of the game.

hell just consider what it also doing to your CMB. You'd be able to grapple the Huge dragon XD

imho if your never going to miss except on the very odd occation you roll a 1 , whats the point of rolling dice ? where's the fun ?

acutally not jsut feats you could quailfy VERY early for some Prestige classes with a BAB requirment

why would you want a PrC if fighter gave you double BAB though ? :p

Never mind the bonus to hit, any well made fighter can hit, the true problem with this comes up because of CMB. You could basically use nullify ANYTHING with such a boost to your CMB. The 8 attacks + another 3 for TWF is just gravy. In another word...no...and HELL NO.
