After Con Game: I3 - Pharaoh (PFRPG)

PaizoCon General Discussion

1 to 50 of 55 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Starting at 2pm on Sunday (through somewhere around 10pm with a dinner break) I'll be running a conversion of I3: Pharoah in PFRPG. I'd like to keep it to 5 players if possible.

So far kikai13 and Kosovoabunchonumbers are signed up.

I will be making PCs to pick from, but instead if you'd like to make your own character then the rules are: 5th level, 20 point buy, core rulebook plus paizo supplements, and 10,000gp for purchasing equipment (with a maximum of 6,000gp spent on any 1 item).

Or you can list race, class, and some characteristics (such as skills wanted or weapon used) and I'll create a character to fit the bill.

Scarab Sages

Boom, I'm there. After running PFS scenarios in every con slot it will be nice to play in a game.

Ok, great, that's 3 players. Hopefully we get more, but 3 is enough to play.

Scarab Sages

I should update my profile with my phone number so anyone who needs to can get in touch with me can do so directly while at the convention.

I'm terribly interested... I just feel a bit guilty about not spending Father's Day with my kids! Allow me to contemplate but I hope I can see my way clear to making it.

Oh, that would be great if you can make it Jason. I'd try to apply pressure by mentioning I voted for you on your final Superstar submission, but that wouldn't be cool since it will be Father's Day.

I can't 100% commit to anything at the moment, but I'd be interested in playing in this game.

What types of characters are your three confirmed players running?

If there is still room, I would like to join the game.

Ed

Scarab Sages

Yeah. What kind of characters are people going to bring or are they just going to use the pregenerated characters that Eric provides?

Tam

I think I should be good to go. BTW, when are you planning to start? I had hoped to watch the video of the "Burnt Offerings" play.

I was planning on starting at 2pm, but if you want to see the video then join us later that would work. I plan on sticking some PC types in the adventure for allies and/or dead PC replacements, so working a character in if you joined late shouldn't be much of a problem.

So far no one has selected a character. I will post either tonight or tomorrow night with the PCs I made.

So far it's:

kikai13
Kosovoabunchonumbers
Tambryn
Jason Nelson (probably)
Epic Meepo (maybe)
Panda40

I can live with 6 players if everyone on the list commits. If anyone decides they can't make it then let me know as soon as you can.

Scarab Sages

I am as commited as I can be. This and a couple bottles of beer will be a great way to relax after the Con.

Bump me up from "maybe" to "most likely." The main thing that was holding me back was the possibility of watching the Burnt Offerings play at 2pm. Now that I know I can do that and still belatedly join this game, I'm in. Yay. :)

Very cool...thanks Eric! I'll like to play a wizard and will probally use one of the pregens.

Thanks!

Sword and Paper.

Dark Archive

I would absolutely love to play either a sorcerer or a cleric. I will bring a couple of characters, but if you don't like them I will be happy to play a pre-gen.

Ok, here's my pre-gens. The background's aren't Neil Spicer quality and I re-used some of the characters from the Styes game I'm running, but hopefully there's enough here to have fun with...and if not, we can work something out. Also, I bent the rules a bit on loot by giving the pre-gen characters with sub-optimal weapon choices a bit more than the 10,000gp limit I set for player made PCs.

TACTICS
Errigal immediately moves to the front line of any battle, attempting to draw the attention of enemies with his tall stature and flashy scorpion whip (this usually leaves Riss free to rain death with his crossbow). Once enemies engage him, he begins a slow retreat to give himself room to lash his opponents with his whip. Errigal also uses scrolls and wands when possible to aid in healing or protective magics.
____________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
Born the bastard son of an Osirian slave lord, Errigal was raised with the sole purpose of helping the family business – buying, training, and selling slaves. Years after beginning his apprenticeship, one of the house slaves, a halfling by the name of Riss, befriended Errigal and once that bond was formed something changed in Errigal and he began to despise slavery. Soon after, Errigal fled the family business with Riss in tow and, at the first opportunity, set Riss free. The two of them have stayed together ever since, dedicating their lives to learning about ancient civilizations in order to better raid the tombs of their dead lords.

TACTICS
Beleric tries to stay behind the front lines in combat using a mix of bardic abilities, spells, and his glaive to aid his allies.
____________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
Beleric’s choice of weapon is an oddity, but the attention he gets from toting around a large weapon like a glaive also gets him noticed more easily and, he feels, is a key to his popularity. Beleric typically travels from city to city taking part in performances at any theatre he can find work. Also, he can’t resist a grand adventure with the opportunity to put himself at the center of the story when he retells it later – which is how he got roped into galavanting off into the god-forsaken desert!

Well, almost fully – he could never bring himself to use the flimsy rapier as his weapon and chose to instead weild an earth breaker. Other than that one small transgression, Dellric is a devout priest of Cayden and goes out of his way to do good deeds, free the oppressed, and drink alcohol at every opportunity.

TACTICS
Riss maneuvers himself into a good safe place (preferably on a wall or ceiling using his spider climbing slippers) before unleashing his crossbow on his enemies. His priority targets are enemies who attempt to flank his friends or those casting spells.
____________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
Riss was born and raised a slave in Osirion. After befriending one of his masters, Errigal Al’Din, he was whisked away to freedom. Errigal and Riss are close friends, always spending time together either studying ancient lore in the libraries of Absalom or raiding tombs of ancient lords across the Inner Sea. Riss has a zeal for life and a determined stubborn streak against authority. Both Errigal and himself came up with the plan to find (and hopefully loot) the Tomb of Amun-Re and convinced the others to come along.

TACTICS
Ithrin is an extremely good archer and will use his bow whenever possible. If engaged in melee combat, Ithrin will use his elven curved blade.
____________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
Initially quiet, Ithrin quickly warns up to those with a friendly attitude. While not minding small towns and spending time at an Inn telling stories, he prefers living off the land and spending his time defending the animals and small outposts of civilization from the depredations of cruel beings (especially undead). While he isn’t used to traveling in the desert, he does appreciate the desert wildlife and the new challenges surviving in such an environment can bring.

If you have no issue adding players late (I'm going to the "Burnt Offerings" show), then I would love to join in. If I create my own PC and send you the stats, would that work in place of using a pre-gen?

Subject to the GM's approval, I was thinking about making a paladin/oracle (or paladin/bard if the APG is off-limits). Either a front-liner or an archer (I haven't decided which yet) with lots of small, supplemental healing.

Adding players late isn't a problem, but I wanted to keep the number of players to 5 and I already have 6. You can be #1 on the waiting list in case someone drops if you want.

I didn't follow the APG playtesting at all, so I'd rather avoid that until it's offical. A paladin/bard is ok with me and I would appreciate seeing the characters via email before PaizoCon (my email address is in my profile).

Waiting list is fine. Will most likely play a wizard if I get in on the action. I'll work up the PC and send it to you on the off chance I get in.

Well, the APG classes are official in Pathfinder Society, such as those scenarios being run at the Con. ;)

But I don't want to browbeat the GM, so I'll go with paladin/bard. It's a core class combo I've always wanted to try. :)

I'll submit the details for GM approval in the next few days.

So far the character choices are:

kikai13 - cleric or sorcerer
Kosovoabunchonumbers - ??

If you see this post multiple times it is because I will be posting it to every thread where I am getting involved in non-Con games and activities. Hopefully this will help prevent any poor communication while getting these games together.

I called the Bellevue to try and learn what my room number would be. All that did was expose my ignorance of hotel SOPs. Apparently they don't assign numbers until sign-in.

I won't have internet access at the Con and will be flying out of Little Rock for Seattle tomorrow morning. My phone number is in my profile. Ring me if you need anything and preferably a half hour or so before any activity or game so I can get there and be properly prepared.

See you guys soon.

Cool, looks like an interesting party.

We'll be doing the game somewhere in the Open Gaming Area, just look for the GM screen with a picture of a ghosly Pharoah and a pyrmamid on it around 2pm on Sunday (or after the video around 4pm for those joining us late).

Woohoo!!

Big thanks to Kikai13, Tambryn, Epic Meepo, Jeremy Walker, Julian Neale, and whoever that guy was who started the night off playing Errigal. That was a great way to end PaizoCon!

From 2pm until 10:30ish and we finished it.

A big thanks to you, Eric. Playing that game was a great way to end Paizocon!

EDIT: You should run it as an official event next year! And don't forget to keep the lights on!

If you run it again next year I'm signing up - I already have a character! :)

Sorry I missed it, I got pulled into something work related the last night of the Con and had to deal with it for a few hours online.

Sounds like you had a great time....:)

If I can make it to PaizoCon next year I'll run it again for sure, but this time I'll add another couple hooks to help PCs get off the maze level in something under 5 hours.

I'm the guy who started of playing Errigal. I had a great time, thanks for running it.

I have to say that, despite the run time, this game flew by for me. It certainly didn't seem like 8.5 hours. And this, I think, it the true mark of an interesting and entertaining game.

Thanks Eric, for converting and running it.

Well, thanks for stepping up when the random invite came to join the game.

You're welcome, though a sadistic part of me (the GM part) wanted to see you hold onto that sword a bit longer.

BACKGROUND
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------
A master granite block craftsman, Prit was one of Amun-Re’s prized pyramid engineers during the building of the pyramid of Amun-Re. Unfortunately for Prit, he was putting the final touches on the Gauntlet level of the pyramid when Amun-Re was assassinated. Before he knew it, he was sealed in the pyramid with nothing but stuffy human priests and an insane undead wizard-priest named Munafik to interact with.

In a very short time, the bleaching began to wear on Prit causing him to spiral into depression and lethargy. Whether on purpose or not, Prit was able to save himself by pouring his effort into something he found interesting – he began to tunnel his way out of the pyramid by digging through the granite walls of his prison. The variation in striations in the granite blocks must have been just enough, for although Prit became a Bleachling (and slightly insane), he did survive.

During his journey Prit wore out his mining tools. His picks, shovels, and chisels eventually broke and so Prit was left with 1 last digging tool – his adamantine sustaining spoon. It has been nearly a thousand years since Prit was entombed, and his source of entertainment solely involves studying mineral deposits in granite blocks he is digging through and talking to animals he summons for a very short time each day.

Thanks for letting me join in, Eric!
I'd just intended to watch when I dropped by, and as there was a spare PC going, it was fun taking part.
If Eric does run this next year, I'd suggest others sign up for it!
