It's a custom prestige class. Scathing Wit and Obnoxious Demeanor are two of the talent trees.

Well I think my character is up and correct now, Cary. I'll just need to flesh out the background I had sent over to you through email, and I'll work on getting a better description up for him.

Let me know if you see any errors in the character and I'll be ready to pose in whenever you wish me to.

Thanks!

Far as I can tell, you have used the 25-point-buy, but Dawn of Defiance uses 28-point-buy, which means you have 3 more points to distribute. Here is the relevant link.

Dawn of Defiance

Also, there seems to be a +2 racial bonus to your Fortitude Defense.

On a different note, Allerick is brilliant! In a cynical obnoxious way naturally, lest the compliment goes to his head and all. :-)

Edit: Toby also seems to be missing a feat. He should have 6 feats (3 starting Noble class feats, 1 general feat at 1st character level, 1 human bonus feat at 1st character level, 1 bonus feat at 2nd Noble class level).

Perfect. Thanks for the feedback for Tarlane.

This is the perfect time to bring in a Noble character. I think the RPing has been pretty good in this scene so far.

Thanks to Castor's keen eyes I believe Toby is up and ready for action whenever that may be.

Also, just as a note, I built my character's gear with base cash even though he's level 2. The rest of the party hasn't gotten many credits yet, so I figured that was the way to go, but if you have anything else in mind, let me know and I'll adjust to it.

Thanks,

-Tarlane

Everyone is getting 2000 credits to undergo this new mission. Feel free to use that to buy anything you need and pocket what you don't use.

Cary, I did have Stone's purchases on my blackberry last night to add to his profile today, but I can't see to find the file. I'm missing one or two items. I'll add the electrobinoculars ($1000), wrist-sized long range comlink ($500), and a credit chip ($100). Since I can't remember what the other small item or two was (I know they weren't weapons or armor), I'll just take the credits for now. That would be $400 left.

If you do remember before you land and begin your journey on Felucia, just add it. Otherwise, please wait until you are in port again.

NOTE: I did the math for up to your departure from Alderaan.

Everyone has 1800xp.

Here is how it was earned:

1. 1200 from the shoot-out at Gundarks (6 x CL1)
2. 600 from the Gammorean guard encounter (3 x CL1)
3. 400 from the meeting with Switch (CL2)
4. 2000 from the shoot-out with Gunga Lor (CL 3 + 7 x CL1)
5. 2000 from the Blue Deck hangar shoot-out (CL4 + CL2 + 4 x CL1)
6. 1800 from the Stormtrooper reinforcements (5 x CL1 + 2 x CL2)
7. 400 from delivery of agent to Alderaan (CL2)
8. 600 from Role-playing and overcoming extra obstacles

9000/5 characters = 1800xp

You need 1200 more to advance to 3rd level.

Liberty's Edge

I just wanted to apologize for my few days lull in keeping up with things.

Some aspect of my fun medical issues apparently has caused a new unforeseen one with my heart revving up some randomly. I went in to get it checked out and they decided to keep me overnight and at some point that extended to 'until they figure out why its happening' which they still haven't.

However, I now have my laptop here and plenty of free time so I'll be catching up now.

Thanks and my apologies,

-Tarlane

Hope things are figured out soon and you are back up and on your feet Tarlane!

Hope they can take care of that for you, Tarlane. Thanks for the headsup.

Quick thing here: I'm assuming that I can't use my Move Object again so soon, given that this is similar to being in the same encounter. If that isn't the case, please tell me!

I want to say that I'm really sorry for my yo-yo posting rate guys. I've been juggling a new job with all my games, and time is in very short supply for me. If I had known that I would be this busy, I would certainly have warned you all beforehand.

Once again, I'm really sorry guys, and especially to you Kalderaan. I ignored my responsibilities as a member of the group, and for that I apologize.

male originally elf Sinister Villain 10 / PC Nemesis 10 / Memorable BBEG 5

Not to threadstalk or anything, but I wanted to praise you all for this incredibly awesome corner of the internet. I have read your pbp over the last 3 days or so and I have never been more excited to play Saga Edition.

You guys are awesome.

I'm glad you are enjoying it too! It is a really great team, and Allerick is constantly cracking me up. There are several good PbP threads for Pathfinder too. Reading Aubrey's Rise of the Runelord thread was the one that made me decide PbP was for me.

Male Human

Due to computer problems, such as my OS going into a sort of coma, my posting will probably be erratic over the next few days. Thankfully, my job entails computer and Internet access, but still feel free to DMPC my character if I seem to be taking too long to post.

Liberty's Edge

I wanted to apologize for my disappearance, but my medical issues kicked up again to where I was spending way too much time with doctors that haven't left me a chance to get on here the last couple weeks. Unfortunately I have at minimum a few more months of treatment left, and with the issues I have been having with the process I'm not sure how often in the future I might end up either spending some time in the hospital or at least at the out patient every day.

Without knowing that, I think the most fair thing I can do at this point is drop out of things so that I'm not leaving you guys hanging at random times. I've really been enjoying the game and you all have been great, so with luck I'll get to join some of you in a game once my world has settled down for the long term.

Thanks again,

Tarlane

Eh I don't see why we can't DMPC you until you feel better. That is up to Kalderaan of course.

I have to say though that this PBP is better than some table top games I have played. Really enjoying it!

I will certainly DMPC Tarlane's character through this encounter. I will then keep him in standby for when Tarlane returns.

I will not replace the character or ask for new characters to join. Stone can handle the healing until then.

Toby will earn experience as if he was participating so that it will be a smooth transition upon your return.

UPDATED POSTING GUIDELINES!

Most of you, though demonstrably good RPers, have yet to hone in on one important fact. I cannot progress you unless you progress yourself. I was at first thinking of letting you figure this out, but I am impatient.

For example, if you want to enter a door but stand to the side to have cover you must say in your post:

Player X opens the blast door while standing to the side to have cover but also see into the room. Before doing so, I have my blaster out and aimed at the doorway.

Another example, for when a combat ends:

Player X searches each body (takes 10 or rolls the dice) looking for obvious equipment (uniform, armor, outer clothing, weapon), checking pockets, and/or stripping the man down to do a full body search.

But, please... for the love of my sanity, don't say you want to go somewhere, only to leave the action incomplete and by passive aggressive instinct, expect that I move you.

Please take control of the game and provide your own direction. I have been extremely reasonable and provided you with the benefit of the doubt and set you up with the most adventageous positions. I will stop doing that going forward - in fact, I will begin to penalize if I have to do this. This is your story, not mine. If I wanted to run everyone's characters then I would play my own game, by myself, at home. :)

I consider myself warned... :)

OK.

Folks, the time is drawing near to completing this part of the mission. You are clearly going to be advancing a level once you get some downtime.

Please start prepping your ideas for advancement. Post questions here if you need clarification on anything. If you are selecting a class outside of your current one, I want to know about it.

The sooner we get leveled up, the sooner we can start the next phase of the campaign!

In fact, I have a surprise waiting for you when you level up!

Stone will progress to a Level 3 Soldier. I'm a little torn on talents. If Stone ended up taking some armor talents, would he draw a lot of attention going around in an armored flight suit in normal circumstances?

Eamch Stone wrote:

I don't believe so. Stormtrooper armor - yes. Something significant like Mandolorian Armor - yes. An armored flight suit - not really. Just remember that you get either your armor bonus or your level bonus towards your REF defense, not both.

Male Human

Alistair will advance in the Jedi class for the 3rd level, gaining the Weapon Focus (Lightsabers) feat and the Weapon Specialization (Lightsabers) talent from the Lightsaber Combat Talent Tree.

I am taking Scoundrel again. I am building towards the PRC Gunslinger.

I'm thinking Allerick will stick with Scoundrel for now. No other class seems to fit his not so subtle brand of egotism and cowardice.

Perfect - I like easy! I assume Kess will take level 3 Jedi as well.

Please do NOT update your alias profile until AFTER this encounter.

Also, start thinking about 4th level. It is right around the corner - trust me!

Spoiler:
Is there a need for a pilot in this adventure series soon? I think Allerick's the only one trained in Pilot and I'm debating whether or not to pursue the Ace Pilot course or another related idea... Any thoughts?

Allerick - I tend not to do starship battles and they aren't usually written into mods unless it is the discretion of the GM.

All I can really say is do what you want and let me know if there is a direction you want to be challenged.

Allerick Hosh wrote:

Okay, I'm going to go a slightly different route instead of the pilot route. I think Allerick is going for the Saboteur prestige class, possibly with a dip into the Improviser class.

FYI. I will be away from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

I will also do Scoundrel at 4th. I think the earliest I can get into Gunslinger is 8th.

Since I will probably not be available when my turn comes up I will move to I52 and fire at the ST standing at J48.

Hey folks, I have a question for you all.

Do you want to replace Toby after you escape Felucia or not?

If he does return, I will gladly bring him back in, no problem.

Do you want to move on with just 5 party members or pick up a 6th with the understanding that Tarlane MAY return some day.

Obvious PROS - extra body and action, more diversity

Obvious CONS - Less XP per encounter, another person to wait on to post, Tarlane's return would boost the party to 7.

I have no issues either way and will let the party decide.

Please vote.

Hmmm. Hard question. We've got a good group going now, but a healer is always a good find. Maybe we could buy a medical droid?

Kalderaan, I saw your post on the recruiting thread. If you need a Co-DM, I might be able to help with that. I can handle day-to-day stuff, since I've got a job that involves computers all day long. If you're interested, let me know.

Ummm...you left a serviceable 2-1B medical droid downstairs. ;)

You can certainly buy one if you pool your money - you have enough as a group to do so.

The campaign I have is more of an idea. I don't have a module or anything other than this "wouldn't it be cool if..." type ideas.

Let me think some more on it. Thanks for the offer though.

I only have the core rule book, but I might be able to find some time to help stat up encounters for you.

markofbane wrote:

Thanks guys. I believe the time-consuming thing would be these things:

1. Storyboard - what comes next?
2. Stats for encounter
3. Running combat
4. Role-play and advancing the story

If I could have help with all of the background stuff and then have co-DM help to advance the story along like running combat and such, then I think we have a plan!

The story is basically this - six padawan Jedi accompany their Master into a remote planet that is being scouted out - Outer Rim, unchartered. Master gets an elusive glimpse of the dark side and the group enters a cave - spelunking down a considerable chasm. Cave-in and master out of commission but not dead. Four padawan must now survive and help their master with a lot of hard choices along the way.

Anyone else interested in helping run it?

UPDATED POSTING GUIDELINES!

1. Please use OOC descriptions to advance your character and/or the team in a situation. This will help me sift through the discussion of what you are going to do with the action of actually doing something. This will make things move much quicker and make my life much easier.

For example, if you want to enter a door but stand to the side to have cover you must say in your post:

Player X opens the blast door while standing to the side to have cover but also see into the room. Before doing so, I have my blaster out and aimed at the doorway.

Another example, for when a combat ends:

But, please... for the love of my sanity, don't say you want to go somewhere, only to leave the action incomplete and by passive aggressive instinct, expect that I move you.

Please take control of the game and provide your own direction.

2. Conversation in posts.

Please capture your text in parentheses and BOLD when speaking out loud.

For example, "Kess, you are a cutie."

Please capture your text in a single ' ' notation and put in italics if you are merely thinking something.

'I wonder if Kess likes me.'.

As a stretch, I would like for you to put non-common languages in both BOLD and ITALICS and indicate the language as such:

The female hutt bellowed, "Does this dais make me look fat?" the language of Huttese slithering from her bloated lips.

I know it adds a bit of time but if I can do it, then so can you. ;)

Level up adjustments reminder.

Leveling up is pretty standard for Dawn of Defiance with one exeception. Hit points are fixed, not rolled.

Noble, scoundrel = 4 + Con modifier
Scout = 5 + Con modifier
Jedi, soldier = 7 + con modifier

When you are done with your level adjustments, please summarize them as follows:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
My updates:

HP = +5

Skills - no change (odd level)

6 Force Points

Bonus Feat (specifiy level or class) - Precise Shot.

Talent - Insert talent here

If you aquire any new equipment with cash you have, please let me know that as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here again is the Dawn of Defiance character creation guide. I noticed the link in the first part of the thread is not working.

Thanks!

If someone wants to play, we should let them play.

Got the notes on the posting, will do.

I do not have time to co-DM, sorry bout that, though the aventure sounds interesting!

I will have Colvin take his action now.
