Also, as we are walking, and while we stop to shop if we do, Janos will try to strike up a conversation with Allara, sense her apprehension to his proximity, but remaining friendly and interested himself, almost as if ignorant of her disdain, “So, what brings such a lady as you here? Don't take this stuff to heart, I play Allara as a cold, calculating, biatch. EVERYONE is a potential asset to be used in her ultimate goal. Neither good nor evil, she is definately amoral. A very "ends justify the means" type of girl

Wadi walks next to Allara and thinks to himself, If Allara believes me a simple fool, unworthy of further notice, it can only be better for me in the long run. She is walking in the locksteps of her chosen path by her rulers, and knows her place here, as do I. Would that our paths would cross closer, she would be a boon companion. She has had her path chosen for her and she walks it gladly. I have also had the path decided for me, But I know best, the best path to walk.

Nyria listens to the others speak, but keeps her own counsel. She wondered in the back of her mind whether or not any of the others were aiding a secretive faction within the Pathfinders as well. She suspected Allara probably was, but the others seemed so straightforward that they might just be doing things to their own ends.

The Exchange

Exiting the lodge, you return to central Absalom. Merchants peddle their wares in the streets while all manner of species go about their day-to-day business. The thick fog has yet to lift; in fact, the clouds overhead have darkened while you were inside.

It's not an especially long walk from here to the Puddles, and following the rough map and directions you were given to Yargos Gill's home, you'll manage it in barely over half an hour.

As you near, and eventually enter, the Puddles, the noise and bustle of the central city dull and fade, to be replaced with an almost oppressive silence. The fog thickens as you near the treacherous waterline that gives the district it's name. Crowds will thin out and beggars will become more frequent, and as the quality of the garb that the pedestrians wear gradually goes down, so does the quality of the buildings you see.

After a while, you'll arrive at a small complex of 'homes' for lack of a better word. True to the nature of the Puddles, these ramshackle, waterlogged wooden hovels seem ill-fit for a sentient creature to live in. You'll turn a corner, then a second, and a third in this miniature shanty town before arriving at a doorway with the name 'Gill' carved into the wood over it.

The door to this particular doorway is hanging on one hinge, and threatening to let go of that hold at any moment. The room beyond, from what you can see outside, is small and only lit by what seeps in through the damaged entrance.

Perception DC 10:
The door appears to have been kicked in recently. The wood splintered somewhat in the process, and it's not hard to see the difference between the water-worn areas and the freshly-exposed portions.

Perception DC 15:
The room beyond the doorway is tiny, with about half of the room being taken up by a rough mattress covered in old books and loose pages, and half again of what's left being occupied by a large, empty bookshelf.

Nyria looked around the room with a faint air of pity, before crossing the room and beginning to sift through the pile of books and other assorted hubris. She was looking for something which could indicate where the man whom she assumed had been kidnapped going by the state of the door.

Book Perception roll is for looking through the various pieces of bric-a-brac on the bed.

The Exchange

Janos, you will find that the only possible witness to what happened is a shabby-dressed man, either drunk or strung out on some substance, sitting on a bench nearby. He appears to have taken at least a moderate interest in the goings-on of Yargos' home.

To those searching the room[/spoiler:
Nyria and Allara will enter the room to find that it is even smaller on the inside than it looks on the outside. The entire home is a single small room, floored in cracking wood with a threadbare rug to protect bare feet around the bed. The bookshelf is decayed and easy to shift, but will reveal no hidden secrets. The mounds of books haphazardly thrown onto the bed are miscellaneous volumes on the history of nations both modern and ancient, military campaigns, the occasional published journal of a general, tyrant, or commander. The loose pages all appear to be where they were more roughly searched through, with the yellowed, stiff pages ripping out easily when mishandled.

Searching the rest of the room will be similarly fruitless. Underneath the bed you will find 3 sets of clothes, worn but not dirty, in addition to an inkwell and handful of pens. A tiny desk next to the bed has an unlit candle, the wick burnt about halfway down, and a small stack of papers detailing the events of the Chelish secession from Taldor as observed by a Chelish Colonal. The rest of the room is bare

The Exchange

The Soggy Piper is only a few streets down, no more than a five minute walk at a casual pace. You can see it from several streets away after rounding a corner; the building slouches at a precarious angle and even from a distance, it's easy to tell where the 'Soggy' part of its name comes from.

A building that's been flooded, burned half-way down, rebuilt, and flooded a few more times just for good measure, you all can't help but think that Yargos must like the Soggy Piper because it reminds him of home, but bigger. The building has telltale signs that it was once painted a bright green, but the color has long since faded and chipped into a medley of brown and soft, dull green-yellow. Above the double-door entrance is a carved drawing of a thin, drenching-wet man with a feather in his sagging hat playing a pipe flute.

The girl finishes clearing up the broken glass, taking a shy glance at Allara as she stands up and moves to begin mopping the floor.

"I'm afraid that's all I know ma'am. I hope you can help Yargos, he's always been kind and told the best stories. If you'll excuse me...."

With that, she focuses intently on mopping up the last of the mess. As she does so, Wadi, Nyria, and the others finish their short exchange with the owner, and quickly head towards the door.

I'm about to go on my lunch break, so I'll let you have a little longer if there's anything else you wanted to do here. Once I get back, I'll go ahead and assume that all of you are rushing in the direction that the barman pointed.

"I want to help him. He is destined to be a great man for the people. Who were his friends?"

Without blinking, Janos will follow the barkeep to the door. As he points, Janos drops 5gp in his hand and starts running, without even hearing the full sentence.
