OK everyone here is our out of character thread. everyone can talk about there concepts and start working on crunch I know at least two of you submitted concepts that were open on what class you would ultimately take.I don't know who has experience with the mods I am running and who doesn't, and thats fine. If you do know please keep meta-knowledge separate from character knowledge. I also may be changing some things from the way they are written so don't be surprised if things aren't exactly the same. I think I know who is planning on being local and who is not. I plan to email locals a bio on town folks and what not. For those that are not local I was thinking of having you coming into town as caravan guards.
If someone has a different idea please let me know nothing is written in stone. I know we have several folks pretty new to pbp myself included. so I will post later some tips on making a character in your profile. Welcome to the group everybody. I think we are in for a good time from the concepts I got. I also would like to thank Set he has been on the ball with helping out answer questions for people, and I appreciate that.
More to come in a bit.

Trevor the Yellow |

Hello everyone,
I passed the excruciating wait putting numbers to the concept and background, but I am in fact quite open on the actual class that they could lead to.
It will become clearer as we all post where we stand.
I'm very happy and excited as this will be my first time!
Regards,
Trevor

When the IC thread starts for uniformity I would like dialog to be bold. thoughts to be italics
and
spoiler tags are also a great way to keep your character profile neat by putting different parts of your character info under tags.
you can find all the BBCode at the bottom of your screen when posting a message if you have never used them before. the die roller is there as well.

Lueck |

Hi everyone! I still need to finish crunching the numbers for Lueck.
Dorgar, is starting gold the class average shown in the book? Do you have any house rules we should know about that would affect our builds?
Thanks! I am very excited and looking forward to this. Lueck would not be a local, and coming into town with a caravan would be perfectly consistent with what I had in mind for him.
I appreciate the posting tips. This (along with the adventure being started now with DM JZ) are my first Pathfinder games and first PbP games.

Lueck |

I decided max gold (I was filling generous :D ). No house rules that I can think of in my home games I do have a few I use, but since this is my first time on a pbp I thought I would stick to core rules.
There's a reason my avatar is hoisting a mug! Cheers, and thanks for the generous allowance! Are any potions allowed to start, or just mundane gear?

![]() |

please let me know when you have your characters finished in their profile so I can give them the once over, and keep any questions coming.
Just as a side note in game it is fall wet and cool in this region winter is on the way, yet the bitter cold has yet to be felt this year. I will figure out exact date.

Harn Jenkins |

Hey all! Harn, your gruff yet good-hearted lumberjack here, ready to...cut down some darkwood here in Falcon's Hollow. Just need to edit a few things and buy things before I'll be ready to go. Took the Cliff Jumper trait to reflect him being accustomed to being up in the trees so it's more like Tree Hanger :P

![]() |

I made an alias for dming. I also was thinking about making aliases for when I post as a particular npc. Those who have more experience with pbp I would like your feed back on that idea. Do you think it adds to the game overall or does it seem to detract from it? I would appreciate your input.
I've seen a few PBPs that use that technique and I prefer it myself, but if it's an NPC that we are only going to see once or twice, I don't think it's worth the effort coming up with an alias for them.

Trevor the Yellow |

I will be working on my paladin this evening, but as I said, and given that I only know about four of the characters' classes, I can still change the class to fit a better role, while staying true to the concept. Let me know what you think.
I love the spoiler tags, they're so tempting and frustrating! They help stay in character and allow us to convey the information in our own way.
As for the aliases, I'm not so sure, as we'll be able to tell if an NPC is important just by watching him get the alias treatment.
And here is my try at the dice roller:
attack 1 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 19; damage = 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + 9 = 16.
I'm going to like this...

*holds up a bomb and grins*
Hi guys, your local alchemist shop keep checking in, I have some background up on this alias.if you are curious about how I got here, Harn and any other locals, might know me well enough, Aaremeth has been in town as a shop keep for about thirty years, he is a bit of a useful outcast in town. Think the local mad scientist. though for those that acctually take the time to know him, you will find him to be more harmlessly excentric.
as for me, I agree with Set if we are going to be seeing a lot of them It would be fine to have other aliases but if it is more trouble for you, it is just as easy to put a header or something.
I.E...

Harn your write up looks good. everything seems to be in order. Ok I will go with the alias idea. I think it will make npcs more distinct. To address Trevor's concern I will do aliases for anyone who is talking unless it is a crowd type situation. How does that sound?

Trevor the Yellow |

My character sheet is pretty much finished. I still have little things to buy with the rest of my gold.
Let me know what you think.

![]() |

ok Trevor so far everything looks good.
so far locals are Trevor, Harn, and Aaaremeth.
Adventurers headed this way Lueck, Nikolae
not sure which Trenton is going with.
Locals defiantly know each other at least a bit.Falcons Hollow is not large. To what degree you know each other I will leave to you.
Those coming in with the Caravan have been protecting the caravan for a couple of weeks if you want to have a prior friendship to that I will leave to you as well.
I hope to have your info packets emailed to you sometime tomorrow time permitting.

Trevor the Yellow |

Ok, I spent all my youth working for the Lumber consortium. I probably know Harn very well. Aaremeth would be someone I know very distantly.

Trevor the Yellow |

Since I'm kind of in trouble or looking for justice (I don't know if you want to start the story where mine finished, coming out of the temple), it's probable I will be trying to get back my equipment, buried in the woods, and maybe look for a quiet place to think about what's next. I could be trying to get to the caravan, or to talk to a friend, like Harn.
What reputation does the justice system have, according to my humble knowledge?
I might also go to the alchemist to buy something special to heal Rafan, or to face Master Denko.

Lueck |

I believe Lueck is ready to go.
Dorgar/Nickolae
He carries ale and several extra tankards, and shares, but doesn't drink to excess and discourages others from doing so. He takes pains every morning to clean himself, his clothes and his gear, but within a few hours he is inevitably disheveled and tossled.

Harn Jenkins |

to Trevor: Sounds good, it could even be a reversed type of relationship, in that, although Harn has spend more years working for the Consortium (being 23 years old) Trevor is usually the one who pulls Harn out of trouble. (Harn IS a barbarian after all) Either that, or maybe the two were both chaotic until Trevor had his redeeming experience and now the two sometimes are at odds with how good should be done.
Dorgar

Trevor the Yellow |

Great ideas!
Trevor's MO, until now, was to promote avoidance of trouble and responsabilities. While he often got Harn out of trouble, he never stood for him (until now).
They probably saw eye to eye in the past, but their friendship will be tested by Trevor's "change". They will probably agree on the objective, but disagree on the means.

ok things are shaping up nicely. please feel free to discuss your characters guys. remember this is the ooc thread. I hope we can have the game up and running by the end of the week. I may open it up for roleplay interaction before that if I get caught up. It seems most of you are about ready to go.

![]() |

Lueck;
Nikolae seems friendly enough, and quite personable, but there is always a sense of holding people at arms length. He wears a tunic tight enough to show off a decent build, and his clothes seem chosen to show that off, but seems prudish about letting anyone see his skin, which seems a bit of a paradox.

I have received word from Trentonzero. He has been working to meet some deadlines, and will have his character up tomorrow (Thursday at the latest). Just so everyone knows he is bringing a gnome mage that is a member of a historical and artifact seeking society named Rufus Bottlebluff. he is traveling in with the caravan.

![]() |

IC thread is up. In Game thread
feel free to role play those in the caravan are awaiting passage locals can let me know where they are in their posts. I don't want to push the plot forward to much till we are all here though.

Journeyman of the Historical Society Artifacts Guild to be precise, as I am sure Rufus would have been.

The following morning, however, he will make a point of wandering to the spot where he saw Nikolae go. He doesn't have Survival as a skill, but is rather observant. He would look for any tracks in that area to get an idea of who Nikolae was meeting with.
Something fairly large, the size of a man lying down, rested here, and the grass is still flat from it's weight. The ground nearby is scuffed, but if there are tracks, they are beyond your limited knowledge of such things.
I'm guessing that Lueck doesn't have tracking skills.

No, Lueck doesn't have any tracking skills beyond a great wisdom modifier. What he sees there is enough to a) convince him that Nikolae isn't working with bandits against the caravan and b) continue his efforts to be friendly with Nikolae to get to know him better without pushing into discussions he seems uncomfortable with.
A note as a player; I haven't been following the new class playtesting very closely, so I'm quite curious to see how this goes in play!

![]() |

if anyone wants to make a skill check for some reason, but is not sure if it is appropriate go ahead and make the roll. I can let you know if it is relevant and what info you get or if you succeed. It will help with game flow if everyone goes ahead and makes the roll and let me worry If it is needed. I am happy to let you put those skills to use so don't be afraid to get those generators going. :)

Here is my first ever RPTools map! falcons hollow
Hope you like it. I am sure they will get better as I go.
Here is an example of the same map up close for a brawl.

Trevor the Yellow |

Looks great. From what I've read in other PbP, confusion on the positions can really slow down a game. It seems it will make everything much simpler.

Trevor the Yellow |

I realize how gimped Trevor is on the knowledge front. I was thinking of moving a point from perception to knowledge (geography) (he wants to know where he came from), or even transform my Favored class hit point into a skill point.
What do you think?
