"Lead the way." Zedd follows with a newly aqired swagger assosiated with his new rifle.

Seeing everyone standing as she comes back in, Kess says "Ah, that's good. We've got some nice swoop bikers outside that would like to 'welcome' us to Zarra. Some help would be nice."

Colvin Dashwind wrote:

"Yes my dear run back in and grab the payment for the welcome committe", replies Colvin loud enough for the toughs to hear.

Deception - 1d20 +7

"While we are waiting perhaps we can negotiate a better rate. We have the need of services from people like you who know this area better than me", [/b] Colvin says smiling broadly.

"Negotiations occur before you land. You've landed and made yourselves quite at home here. Pay up or we'll kick your sorry butts off planet. Hard."

[ooc]You've bought yourself some time but that is it.[/b]

"Are you saying you are not interested in possible contracts?" Colvin responds still smiling at her.

Perception check to see if there are any other thugs that may be in hiding.

Perception - 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Allerick walks outside and sees the swoop gang lurking above. He pauses for a moment and stares at the bike. "Your bikes are rubbish. How can you even compete with those? I've seen better engineering on garbage scows."

"Way to go, Allerick," the Jedi comments with a smile and a soft chuckle as he also walks outside to join the others. "I see you have reacquired your usual charm after that brief respite inside."

As he talks, his eyes move from one biker to the next, his hands behind his back in case he needs to draw his lightsaber. Considering where they are, however, the idea is not a very good one, a fact he easily acknowledges.

Zedd takes up postition behind Allerick, drawing himself up to his full height and making no effort to hide his grenade-launcher mounted heavy blaster rifle.
Taking in the scene and noting the postition of the bikers and their general health/hygene levels. "Judging by their hygene, or lack there of, and social bearing I would place these beeings on a level with rodents. So I must ask Mr. Dashwind; Are these rodents pestering you? Do you wish them removed?"

Allerick looks at Allistair, shocked. "What? All I meant was that their swoops stink, and me, being the mechanical genius that I am, might be willing to turn one of them into an actual race-worthy craft in lieu of paying whatever bantha-poo toll they're trying to extort from people with obvious better armaments than they have. I mean, look at Iggie here. He's got a underslung Ikitz Mark V grenade launcher loaded with standard thermal detanator rounds. Two shots and the whole gang's remains won't fit into his internal storage! I mean, if I were them, meaning of course that I'd had to have suffered massive brain injury and some seriously bad luck in life, I'd take my offer."

Stone pales slightly at Allerick's comments, glad that his faceplate is concealing. He makes sure he is next to Allerick just in case the bantha-poo hits the atmosphere recirculation device.

Slapping her hand into her face, Kess simply groans. "If I didn't know better Allerick, I'd think you want to have them attack us."

You see other speederbikes moving on the outskirts of the area. You suspect you are matched fairly evenly at the moment - person for person.

"Listen jerk," she addresses Allerick, "Now that you mention it, we do need some tune-ups to our bikes. The new landing fee just went up to 1,500 credits. Now fork it over with less lip and we'll be on our way." The leader's tone is hard as steel. Her followers make a show of muscle behind her to reinforce her statements.

Allerick sets his jaw. "No. We're not paying. However, as I said, I am a genius and I could, could mind you, be open to adding some unique upgrades to your speeders in return for some information."

Allerick Hosh wrote:

"No, what you'll do is suffer my wrath! Get 'em boys!" the leader yells as things start to blur in motion.

Everyone please roll initiative

Initiative 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

What, no surprise round? No one is surprised that this escalated to conflict? ;)

"That's the problem with these backwater hellholes. No manners or proper welcoming committees."

Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Initiative 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Initiative for Biker Gang:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Here is the order:

Alistair
Colvin
Biker Gang
IG-MDz
Stone
Allerick
Kess

I put Kess last unless she pops in before the Biker Gang goes and rolls a high enough Init.

You can see what you see on the map and you can hear other bikes in the nearby area.

Perception 15+:
If you manage your perception roll, you can here the distinctive whine of a total of six bikes in the general vicinity.

Actually, I think Colvin goes before me. :-)

Colvin quick draws his blaster and fires at the leader. "This is not even a salveagable conversation, well done Allerick!"

Ranged Blaster - 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Blaster Damage - 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 3 = 7

Colvin Dashwind wrote:

Ranged Blaster - 1d20 +7

Blaster Damage - 3d6 +3

Colvin catches the leader with a glancing shot before she had time to bring her guard up.

Leader injured (7 hp). Alistair is next to act. Thanks for the catch!

"Let us all calm down," Alistair calls out as he brings both hands to his sides in an attempt to appear non-threatening. He still keeps his guard up, however, his eyes on the various bikers and the woman that leads them in particular.

"Nerves are frayed but we can still salvage this. Please, let us all stop this fight and my friend here," he goes on with a nod of his head towards Allerick, "can do wonders for your bikes, I am sure." He allows himself a reassuring smile aimed at the biker woman.

Using the Mind Trick Force power to attempt to stop the fighting basically by convincing the leader it is in their best interests to call this off.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Use the Force (Mind Trick) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Oh, come on with the rolls already... :-P

"I really wish you would learn some more persuasive speaking skills, Allerick!," Kess says as she reacts to the Troublemaker's lead tongue.

Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

I think it's the Biker Gang's turn...

Not wanting to give away their cover so easily, Kess pulls out her junky blaster and lets loose at the gang leader.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) + 2 = 9
Crit Confirm(?): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

So... any news from Kalderaan?

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

I do not see anything in the OOC thread either. Hopefully everything is ok.

He's been posting regularly over in my Star Wars game as a player.

Thanks Barcas. I posted over there asking him to check in.

Kalderaan, are you still game for going on with this one? As far as we can tell, it is the biker gang's turn.

Sorry for the delay folks. Family emergency. Got called away and didn't have my notes. I've been slowly catching up. Will post by tomorrow!

No problem. We were just getting concerned. Hope all is well for you and your family.

Brother got hit by a car and was in bad shape. He's doing better now, thanks.

As the negotiations are encouraged by Allerick, they seem to escalate as Alistair infuriates the gang leader with his condescending attitude to just walk away. This was their turf and they are used to enforcing the rules.

A fraction of a second before the bikers spring into action, Kess draws and fires a devastating shot on the leader. He is hurt bad but still up!

The bikers then start in motion, every one of them moving and attacking. Half perform a running attack with cobbled vibroblades and the other half fire their blasters.

Biker 1 - shot on Colvin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Biker 2 - shot on Kess: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 ; 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
Biker Leader - shot on Allerick:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Biker 3 - slashing attack on Stone:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 ; 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) + 1 = 13
Biker 4 - slashing attack on Colvin:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Biker 5 - slashing attack on Kess:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Kess takes 18 from a crit. She is -1 on the Condition track (-1 to skills and attack rolls). Stone is hit for 13 but not affected on the condition track. Next up, in order, is IG-MDz, Stone, Allerick.

UPDATED MAP - Click here!

Allerick will move up to S-2, drawing his blaster as he goes. Peering around the obstacle, he'll snap a shot at the biker leader, while calling out, "Was it something I said?!?"

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 3 = 7

Unfortunately Allerick's blaster takes that moment to jam, causing him to begin cursing the fool who designed this thing, until he realizes that, alas, it was him.

Shrugging off the hit that he took, Stone will move to S3. He'll activate Harm's Way, defending Allerick. He'll use his standard action to aim at the biker in squares L-M/4-5.

"Negotiations, predictably, seem to have failed." Zedd states as he swings his rifle after a bike and lets fly a grenade and stepping in front of Allerik.

Shoot a grenade at biker u/v 9/10 and move to x3.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10, 4d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 3) + 2 = 19

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin continues to focus his efforts on the leader.

I am using a force point. Glad to see that everything is ok now with your brother.

Ranged Blaster - 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + (1) = 12

Blaster Damage - 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 4) + 3 = 16

Thanks for the well wishes folks. Kess and Alistair may go now.

Shouting in pain as the blaster scores a direct hit, Kess grits her teeth and fights on. Concentrating on keeping up, she moves away from the biker trying to slash her to ribbons, and fires on him.

Swift action to start recovery, move action to withdraw, and attack for standard.

Attack Roll w/FP: 1d20 + 1d8 ⇒ (16) + (6) = 22
Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) + 2 = 9
6 of 7 FP remaining. 37/55 hp.

'Perhaps I should have held onto the blaster after all,' Alistair thinks to himself as he charges the nearest gang member, fully intending to knock him off of his bike.

Charge at AA/AB 4/5 biker, meaning a +2 bonus to attack and a -2 penalty to Reflex until the start of his next turn for Alistair.

Melee attack (unarmed) 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Damage (unarmed) 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Allerick and Colvin concentrate fire on the leader but she is too nimble to pin down, using her vehicle to evade the barrage.

IG-MDz launches a grenade at one of the bikers. The beauty of area attacks is you don't have to hit to cause damage! The blast radius sprays deadly debris at the biker, who begins coughing blood afterwards.

Kess and Alistair focus their attention on the biker who struck Kess. Both connect with their attacks but not enough to finish him off.

The brown spots on the map are not cover - they are holes in the flooring. If you fall through, you will die.

The bikers continue with their chaotic attack, some using skirmishing tactics to move and strike and others firing while in motion.

Biker @ AA - slashing attack on Alistiar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Biker @ P13 - shot on Stone: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Biker @ V8 - shot on Kess: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Biker @ S8 - drive-by slashing of Stone: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Biker @ X15 - shot on Colvin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Leader - shot on Allerick: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

In the frenzy of slashes and blaster fire, the intrepid heroes escape unscathed! Nothing connects this round. The Force must be with you!

Injury Update:
Biker @ AA (-16)
Biker @ V8 (-9)
Leader (-7)
Kess (-9)
Stone (-13)

All of the heroes can proceed with their actions.

Updated Map - Round 2 - Click here!

Alistair presses on with his attack, still fighting with bare fists as the alternative would be his lightsaber or an overt display of Force use.

Melee attack (unarmed) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage (unarmed) 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Seeing the biker cough blood IG-MDz squesses of a round from his heavy blaster rifle to finish him off.

attack U/W-8/9; 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21, 3d10 + 2 ⇒ (10, 10, 8) + 2 = 30

Allerick sighs as the shots barely miss him. "Sometimes I think having the mind of a genius and the associated wit and charm are more of a burden than one can bear. Fortunately, I am equipped with the sense and patience to not take being shot at by flying apes personally."

Allerick fires at the thug in RS-8,9.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) + 3 = 11

Oh mighty dice gods: was it something I said?!?

Battles are fluid and fickle. In a matter of seconds, the two previously injured bikers are dropped - one by IG-MDz and another by Alistair - their bikes hovering in mid-air like puppets on a string. The odds shift perceptively in the favor of the heroes.

Colvin, Stone, and Kess still have actions remaining.

Allerick - it is karma for your Natural 20 on your social skill check. ;D

I think RS 8 9 is the same thug I had an aim started on last round.

Stone will aim (2nd swift) again and maintain Harm's Way on Allerick.

Stone will squeeze off a single shot at the thug.
To Hit 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Damage 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 7, 8, 1) + 4 = 28

I'm not sure how high he is, so if he is still within 30', then Stone gets +1 to hit and damage.

Edit: Whoo hoo! The book says on a crit you do double damage. I'm not sure if in Saga that means double the roll or roll twice? If it is roll twice, then here's the second... 4d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 8) = 18

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin grimaces as his last focused shot missed wide. He relies on his own luck taking another shot at the leader.

Ranged Blaster - 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Blaster Damage - 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 6, 6) + 3 = 20

As the tide turns from Alistair and IG-MDz, the luck continues as Stone fires a shot on the biker nearest him. He is struck, knocked off his bike, and falls through one of the holes in the decking. His screams go on for seconds before he is lost to the oblivion that awaits him.

Colvin snaps off a long shot on the leader and connects! She is staggered but maintains her control of her speeder bike. She's going to seriously rethink things as half her gang is dead!

Biker remain at P13 and X15 along with their injured leader. She is down 27HP and -1 on the condition track.

Kess is now up to act!

For crits - I prefer to just double the damage of the dice instead of rolling additional dice.
