Mystery Bush sign causes stir

I am not sure which is funnier, the sign or all the comments to the story.

I'd say 50/50. HILARIOUS on both counts.

Re: the comments -- I just want to ask most of them, "Obama is different from W exactly how?" They've got a different letters in parenthesis after their names, but otherwise I can't tell the one from the other.

For one, I don't think Obama ever got a DUI. Bush has had three.

Kirth Gersen wrote:

Is that not a requirement for running for office?

LiLo for president!!!

It is like watching a train wreck…except it is a model train without real people, so you want to see it go faster and hit harder.

Not touching this one.

That contrary to Kith Gerson's claim, the is a difference between Presidents Bush and Obama.

Bush got caught?

Yes, because Bush is ____ (four letters).

Also, I think it would take more than four letters to describe my feelings.

Threads like these make me sad. :-(

Plus, I'm just not all that comfortable with assassination jokes. Even if they are meant in a silly way, they're just not something I think is appropriate for a joke, particularly when it's your guy being killed in effigy.

Or, to put it another way, how funny would it be to say "I already miss Obama, but I'll keep going to the shooting range until I get it right."

I think the picture in the billboard is a great one though - to me, it captures the essence of Bush's charm and also helps make the message less aggressive than it might otherwise be.

Well, that is my second assassination joke today, so I'll lay off.

I am evil lincoln after all. (third, sorry)

EDIT: In all seriousness, I don't actually wish harm to the man, as much as I resent his effect on all of us. Being able to joke about that kind of thing is a great privilege that this country affords me, but I wouldn't want anyone to take me seriously about it.

About the worst thing I would choose to impose on him would be perspective on his own actions.

Sorry, couldn't pass up an opportunity for a Cheney joke...

Is this the point where I make a joke about waterboarding?

Meh. Tasteful jokes are hard.

Yeah, I know it wasn't meant seriously, but it can still be hard to take those types of jokes lightly.

Anyway, didn't mean to single you out Evil Lincoln (or CH aka Cheney), but felt like someone should chime in before the thread got too mean. It's probably going to spiral in that direction anyway, but I wanted to see if I couldn't give it a nudge back in the right direction before it got too out of control.

What if we direct the meanness at you instead?

I think my fragile ego and low sense of self-esteem are well-documented on these boards. If you really want to risk my feelings, I guess I can't really stop you.*

Read the article, found it funny.

As to the DUIs, Sean, it beats associating with terrorists. *shrug*

For once I agree with the pony. Assassination jokes are bad taste.

But that's DIFFERENT!

Bush deserved to die! They even made a movie about it!

He's evil! He caused all the bad things EVAR! Obama can't even get anything done because he's working just to crawl out of the evil hole Bush/Cheney dug! We should re-elect Bush just to impeach him!

Those weren't prunes that caused the explosion. The appearance is the result of said explosion.

Not funny at all!! How dare you even suggest any harm come to The Messiah! He can hear you, you know. He knows all, so you better pray to the Great One for forgivness RIGHT NOW! Why can't you people see that Obama walks on water, that HE broke the loaves and fishes, ONLY THROUGH OBAMA SHALL WE BE GREAT AGAIN!!!! Without him to tell us what we want and need, we'd all just waste away and be lost again.... I wish he could rule us FOREVAR!!!

I'm SOOO glad that I've been seeing my mom break away from this attitude the last few months.

He's a human being, with flaws, and he has to work within a stale political system. Even if he WAS an honest politician (like such a thing could possibly exist), he's only gonna be able to get so much done within "the system."

Speaking as your neighbor to the north: Not for one second. Carter, Ford, and Nixon were better presidents.

I'd put Bush Jr. and Carter about even. Nixon, I suspect, would be remembered a LOT more kindly today if he hadn't overstepped himself at the end there.

I tend to agree with you on your Nixon comments; but Watergate, and his connection directly or indirectly, will forever taint any accomplishments made as a president.

Yep, stagflation as a result of his retarded wage and price controls, the War on Drugs (sorry, Nixon started that one, not Reagan), and a host of other "damn, why did we elect this RINO again?" moments give me so many warn fuzzies about Nixon...

There is a big difference in administration with my job. The mortgage/housing industry needed/needs fixing. Obama is "fixing" it by making it worse. Not better. I could go into all the boring details, but in the end it really doesn't matter. It is now law/policy and the consumer is the one that suffers for it. Don't get me wrong -- Bush didn't fix it either. He just didn't break it as well.

houstonderek wrote:

Spoiler:
Brust's new Vlad novel (the one Jess Door was showing off on Monday) deals with mob pressure on the ruler to start a war on drugs -- potentially leading to the mob's biggest cash industry ever.

A pox on both their houses. I've been tired of having to choose between 2 scumbags for various offices for quite a while now.
