Other than it has ballooned up to over 200+ posts that I've yet to read ... perhaps I did the wise thing?

EDIT: Seeing as Ross showed up on my recent poster's list to that thread, I assume the diplomacy hammer is being smashed down. I'll have to peek now....

It was hammered twice.
Thing hasn't been on today. Makes me wonder if he got the banhammer put on him.
Honestly hope not but well we all need a time out once in awhile. of course he isn't the only one.
I think he's on FB. I can't check FB right now. Can someone else check?

I can't post from work. That is why I hadn't posted earlier. I ate dinner when I got home too.

WTF happened on the religious thread?:

Well, it had something to do with this post:

Doug Greer wrote:
But getting back the subject at hand. I just feel like I can't discuss my opinions on this with out sounding like a bigoted idiot.

Paul Watson had what I considered a civil and appropriate response:

Paul Watson wrote:

At the risk of being uncivil, if you think what you're saying makes you sound like a, to use your words, "bigoted idiot", does it not make you question whether you should be holding views you appear to be embarassed by?

And Samnell responding with this which I found to be a mockery of civil discussion:

Samnell wrote:

I shall accept your preferred term for yourself. You ought to know.

That was a slap in the face of a person bowing out in a self-deprecating manner. I found nothing about it to be civil. But, he didn't stop there:

Samnell wrote:

I've observed the same about every opponent of same-sex marriage. I do not consider this a coincidence.

I took issue with that since I had engaged in discussion with him on the subject. "Took issue" is an understatement. So, I challenged him to put his money where his mouth is and show that my arguments were "bigoted and idiotic". I think I demonstrated otherwise, but what do I know...

In a different thread, Samnell had gone on a long tirade calling out conservatives as being racist and adding a little caveat that he wouldn't say every single one was racist. Not wihing to waste the time like I did yesterday, I simply responded with a slew of curse words.

Erik Mona stepped in and chastised me. He said that he wouldn't get me suspended because it would look like he was taking sides and favoring one argument. He then said that if I took issue with what he stated about conservatives then I should take the time to prove they aren't racist. I didn't waste my time on Samnell that evening.

Last night was different. Moreover, due to the nature of what was said and that Erik Mona had explicitly stated to me that I should challenge it instead of just adding a slew of curse words, I think they decided not to take action other than delete a couple of posts of mine toward the end with Bugleyman.

But, I could be wrong on why I did or didn't receive the banhammer...

That, is what happened in a nutshell.

I had multiple tabs open and accidentally posted that in a most wrong thread for doing so. Oops.

Dahh, I am so bad about keeping track of these type of things. I think I owe one to the monkey too, if I am right.

Evening all!

Well, the farming goes on, and remains a work in progress. Got a few books of the Sandman graphic novel series by Neil Gaiman (the boyfriend of Amanda Palmer, lucky duck =P) thanks to a birthday gift from my super-awesome dad (well, he threw me a few bones, but the thought was there, and considering I am 43 I really can't b!~!!).

@Freehold: I'm glad you got to celebrate your heritage. That's always cool. When I discovered I was actually a displaced Canadian of Scottish descent it was a lot of fun to go up to Cape Breton and hear all the stories and such (and see my 1,000+ relatives ... the winters are awful long up there)

@Moorluck: $40 tips are good. Gator wrestling ... umm ... not so much?

@Aberzombie: I'd love to tour a brewery with you, even though I am no longer a beer drinker so much. I'd make an exception. It's ben awhile since I hung with beer afficianatos. You should come up and do the Sam Adams sometime.

@Thing: Stay away from those threads. They do nothing but bring your blood pressure up, trust me. Certain folks are never so happy as when they can get a rise outta you ..

@CJ: Thanks for the well wishes!

@ Patrick
I know. I'm an idiot.

Awright folks. My sagittarian wanderlust and exasperated wife are telling me to go into manhattan to check out los gamers aya. Will post once I return, or perhaps even from the gaming table. Until later on...

Glad CRD has simmered down now. I glanced, but I'll run through it again here in a few. Saw that some posts were deleted, I want to know if I had anything deleted. :\

I caught some of this info while I was at work but forgot and didn't reread it when I came home.

On a side note, I am trying to gather info on naval ships (US and other) of the late 1800s and there isn't nearly as much out there as I thought there would be.

Signing out for a while. See ya.

I think it was limited to a very few posts that explicitly called out another poster or one with said post in quotes.

For the most, it feels okay. I am happy to start doing some of this again.

Hunh. You and my girlfriend should meet sometimes. She has her B.A. in Graphic Design and should get her certificate for Web Design next month from CSCC. She's been working as a freelancer for Max & Erma's through The Creative Group for the past two years (she had lost her previous job when she was down in Cincy back in May '08).

The Civil Religious Thread -- SP asked about what religion (probably namely Christianity) or the Bible says about "Hatred". And/Or how to deal with it.

This would be a big chew. We'd have to start out trying to figure out the relationship between what the Hebrew Bible meant by hatred, what the Christian tradition means by hatred, and what the contemporary questioner means by hatred, and then look for the overlapping areas between those three. I think we'd find the three circles would not overlap perfectly, and in the case of the Hebrew Bible, that circle might be fairly off the other two.

I'm going to have to +1 Pat on this. It'd probably do you justice just to take 20 on your Will saves and let those threads be. There are times I wince when I'm reading your responses when you lose your cool. Well, I'm also interested in your personal opinion on the subject as much as anything else. My main purpose at the moment is trying to figure out if hatred as a state of being has a telos. What is the point?
