Patriotic. Not a sentiment I am familiar with.

The a*@~*&@s won't allow my daughter to come to Canada while her citizenship application is being processed.

Sorry; I didn't know that before I started talking b%*#%@*@.

Canada is paranoid about anyone getting in illegally. So they make it hard for anyone (who isn't rich as s@&~). Asshat bastards.
They don't even allow short visits? Or are you trying for a temporary visa type thing? We have so much cross traffic here thru Windsor-Detroit that I don't understand the grounds this is based on. Or is it just bureaucratic BS? This really sux.

While she is applying for Canadian citizenship (and it took me three tries to get the papers in because they make up their own rules in regional offices--and keep changing them) SHE IS NOT PERMITTED TO GET A VISA ON HER PHILIPPINE PASSPORT.

There are no exceptions. The only option is for me to try to get the two year process (already underway) of her citizenship application expedited.

Of course this is what I am trying to do. I've recently become allergic to both corn and soy, the two of which, together, are in 100% of all processed food and in 90% of all medicines.

I have a friend who is a doctor and is willing to sign a letter that says my life is in danger if I continue to live in a country (China... but USA also applies) that does not have strict food and medicine labeling laws.

So right now I'm trying to get documentation together to show that I need to come home, and my daughter needs to come with me so I can support her.

Well here we go....

Scarab Sages

Aaaand...to top it off, it's Monday and I've got some emails which indicate today is going to be a crap day.

So, at times like this, there's only one thing to do.....

Spoiler:
....break out it song!!!

Spoiler:
At first, I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking, I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking, how you did me wrong
And I grew strong and I learned how to get along

And so you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I'd known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

Go on now, go, walk out the door, just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one, who tried to hurt me with goodbye?
Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give
And I'll survive, I will survive, hey, hey

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent, oh, so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry but now I hold my head up high

And you see me, somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you
And so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free
But now I'm saving all my loving for someone who's loving me

Go on now, go, walk out the door, just turn around now
'Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one, who tried to break me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble? Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh, no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive
I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give
And I'll survive, I will survive, oh

Go on now, go, walk out the door, just turn around now

Good morning. Sorry I missed the "everything sucks" parade a few days ago, but things went into such a spiral of suck that I was afraid my post would be sucked into the sucking void of eternal sucking. The weekend has ended with a few minor upswings in dame fortuna's attitude towards me, so I'm more or less back where I started.

So, what did I miss? Save political stuff, that is.

Can't blame you, though I just avoid them. They make me sad and pessimistic about the human race. Kill away!
I worry that one of his tirades will get us banned from the Con. But he usually does it with class. :\

You might be surprised to learn that there was very little (if no) political talk at the Con. :)

Ahhh!!! Spring!!!

RPG Superstar 2012

I made it back home around 7, took my kids out to dinner, then went straight to bed.

Driving 16 hours over the course of 30 hours is not something this old man can do as easily anymore.

In my opinion, nursing homes are glimpses into Hell, if ever there was one.

Hee hee. 31 is kinda close to 41. We're both in the "30-45" age group.

My son is 15 and my daughter is 13. My wife and I were both 21 when we got married, so we did wait a little while before starting a family.

Without question. I'd sincerely prefer to be pass away at a younger age than wind up in a nursing home. Unless there were aliens cocoons in a nearby pool that gave me hardy and unexpected erections and made me a superlative break dancer.

Heh. I did pick up a bit of a tan, but I think it would take more time and effort than I care to put into it to turn this gut into anything resembling "buff". LA is decidedly not a mellow place, unless you've got the right prescription, of course ;)

We just really liked the place, and might like to move there. Coming back to the Rust Belt was kind of a letdown. It's also supposed to snow this week :(

Actually, I don't mind potpourri. If my room smells like cherries and apple pie spice, you won't hear me complain. It's just I have a mountain of books, movies, music....and she wants me to take 'em all down, remove the shelves, remove the carpet, etc. What's going to happen is less of my stuff goes back in. Says that she needs more room for her stuff. But honey, what's the rest of the house is for? Do I get more closet space in return? Nooooooooooooooooo!

:P

Man caves are usually regulated to some dank dark corner in the basement or the garage. We must rise against this atrocity! I'll have to work on my Dingoism rhetoric.

In my case, the basement and the garage. And, one other room which I've forcefully conquered by way of having more crap to spread around.
