Just got done watching Aliens in the Attic. Not a bad movie.

Finishing up The Red Baron. Mrs. couldn't make it to the end.

Ooh, really? I only saw the first couple of episodes and have been waiting to see the rest for quite some time now. :)

And now I need to actually go to sleep. Presuming the rain ever stops, we were planning to go to the Taste of Ann Arbor tomorrow. It starts around 11 unless it gets cancelled because of weather.

Let me see if I make this save. Hopefully the +12 due to being sleepy will help.

1d20 - 18 + 12 ⇒ (19) - 18 + 12 = 13

Crap! Still tanked my save versus a DC 25. ~glowers at Solnes~ Thanks a lot. Watch your back. Revenge will be mine. ~goes off to watch the third episode of Chuck~

Spoiler:

Thanks for the support FAWTLites. I guess I needed to vent some steam. I just feel like I am going through a midlife crisis at 24. It's just that I only had six actual friends in high school and they all have lives of their own now, or I moved away and sorta burned bridges along the way. It sorta feels like you guys are my closest friends that I talk to here without being a third wheel and/or can be myself around. Moorluck and Solnes, I think you hit the nail on the head when I was down there with what my problem was and I don't know how to overcome it. I just need to learn to cope with being shot down/rejected/denied better. I was never allowed to fail growing up, because if I did it usually ended up in a beating. My coping mechanisms in the past have been: when I got laid off from one job I turned to alcohol luckily that only lasted a month and that wasn't fun, the first time I tried to ask a girl out it took me nearly a whole semester to muster the courage to ask and when i was shot down cutting crosses into my left arm was the result, I can't remember how long that lasted. After those events I kinda took to being a recluse. Staying in and not going out at all. If only I could get out of my shyness/introversion, that might help out a lot. I just don't know how. My problem is I can't learn it from a book and that frustrates me.

I am using this forum as sort of a diary I guess. Because I have been told countless time writing things down helps out. I guess I will give it a try. I know I can trust you guys because I think of you all as either friends or the family I never had. As I get to this part it hurts because I believe that is a deep problem for me. I really never had a family or to honest the support structure I wanted/needed growing up and it hurts. I don't think meds will help because I believe that masks what needs help. Someone can be drugged out of their mind but still be unhappy.

Thanks again for the support and help guys. I really needed this.

Woody, for whatever it's worth, I do understand. You and I are a lot alike. I feel fairly comfortable saying that everyone here is more than happy to act as a sounding board, and Solnes and I are more than available for you to talk to. You can Skype us, you can call us, hell little brother, if you need to use a Sending spell! Just try to keep focused on the positive things that are coming up, like the Con. You're a good guy Woody, and I for one am willing to put some time into helping you get to where you want to be. Just remember what my Cherokee ancestors took as a motto, "We shall persevere, no matter what may come, we shall persevere".

Oh, one more thing...

Been there, bro. No need to repeat myself as Mindy told you straight up how I was when we first met. So I'm not always the blustering champion of bravado that I seem to come across. You just learn to pick it up along the way through trial and error. We learn from our mistakes knowing that they didn't kill us.

We did talk about a couple things to get you going in a good direction, so allow me a couple more days to deal with the puppy blues and we'll get started on said project.

You messed the fighter up pretty bad too! He required the use of one of his potions and both cure spells from the Bard to keep fighting on. Those goblins were a hoot, that statue screwed me up, and whatever that thing in the office was messed up the ranger pretty bad. The mage and bard didn't take much damage, but kicked butt the whole time! Bard even managed to hit twice when the ranger couldn't! hahaha.

I'm a grown man with a deceased mother. I don't call the woman my father married in his old age anything that has a derivative of the root word mother in it.

It was a wacky night. The big, buff guys were standing in and wiffing away while the delicate little ladies consistently plinked the baddies with rapier and crossbow. "Oopsie, the bad man fell down. Did I do that?" The mens' dice were cold as ice! Don't often see luck run by gender.

Giving you a hard time, Prof. Over here, Dad's been with the same woman since '76 and never remarried. Mom's deceased since '05. Never quite sure what to call her. They're in their 60's now. Do you still call her 'his girlfriend'? *shrugs*

An even better attribute for a GM! Excellent!

When I roll crits I enjoy giving my players this face that says "I'm sorry for your troubles but I can't wait for my creature to rip the flesh of your character." :)

I don't think I confirmed one last night, but I still love the breath-holding tension between the call "Critical threat!" and the confirmation roll. "Does a 12 hit you?" "No! Phew!"

Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot though, and you're the player whose taking those hits and rolling like crap. It took me a few hours before I even rolled higher then a 9! Bad luck for players will come off on the GM worse if they're rolling consistently high behind their screen. It was a terrible night for rolling as players, which can really drain the fun from a session who no longer feel like they have any control. Thankfully, at level one, you only need to roll good once to drop your opponent. Unfortunately, that's true of them as well!

Not what I heard at the table, except maybe the first time. It was actually more like, "Sigh... again?!" "does a 12 hit you?" "why the large discrepency is attack rolls?"

If I hadn't seen your rolls, I'd have doubted!

My memory, possibly mistaken, is telling me that rib problem happened a while back. How long has it been?

Hey E7! How's life treating you?
The return to work has been rougher than expected. I get tired thinking. I know, it's weird to say but it's more weird to feel. Of course going back full time just in time for 1st of the month reports doesn't help. But, on a good note, the knowledge seems to be all there. Even if I have to dust the cobwebs off to find it.

As far as it appears that you still have to go it also appears to me that you really have come a long way. Good to hear from you on that count.

I have not had the opportunity to fully investigate what the link has to offer but it might be worthwhile for you to check out.

Iowa has no "statewide" programs if I have the state correct but there is still the possibility of the companies that produce your medication having programs in place.

True. I do fudge rolls a bit when it looks like my players and their dice seem to disagree on the subject at hand. It gives them a fighting chance.

But you have to be careful with that as well, or else the encounter becomes a bunch of misses and that isn't very much fun either.

I think those situations can still be fun, but it does require certain shift in tactics. Aid Another is a good way to help the fighter hit if said fighter is having a bad time with the dice.

Of course, that requires another player to stop what they are doing and help out, though I always found that to be a good strategy for the wizard. This is especially true if the wizard doesn't want to expend spells because he/she realizes the encounter, despite how it is going, isn't a major one worthy of magical doom. While the wizard could certainly attack on his/her own, the chances he/she can help the fighter are significantly higher than doing any kind substantial damage themselves.

At least, that is what I do when playing the wizard, or other class not built as a front line fighter. Since that is so situational, I am sure that tactic may not always apply.

Naturally, if everyone is rolling terribly, even that little bit of assistance may not be enough. :) But if it does work, then the wizard gets to gloat how the fighter needed him to fight effectively. ;)

@ Woodraven:

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. You'll find the right girl. You could ask a friend to double date, sometimes it really helps to have a wingman. I don't really have many friends either, but my acquaintences are usually happy to go someplace casual with a date, even if it isn't really a "date".

As for the meds, I'm not trying to shove anything down your throat, but I do speak from experience. Recently I was told that I have Aspergers, which is a mild form of autism. I agreed to try anxiety medication to deal with some of the more troublesome aspects of the disorder. Of course, it didn't cure Aspergers, but it certainly helps with some of the other problems. I can now drive, which I was never able to do before and I am better able to get along with others. My mood doesn't fluctuate nearly as much either. I was initially against the idea, having had bad experiences with meds, but I have no side effects. Taking a pill in the morning isn't so bad, I take vitamins anyway. If that's what it takes to function better, no biggie. Lots of people are on lots of types of medication for life. At least I don't have to stick myself with a needle.
