Well, that sucks. Are you going to consider Treppa's idea?
It's looking like a very likely possibility.
That sux. Well, sign up for the leave, then use the time to start your search.
The plan is to work up until mid June (and give notice 2 to 3 weeks in advance), then go to Europe, then come back and start moving. But I will want to start applying for jobs in advance, with the hope that there might be something in the pipeline by August. It's risky...
You know, you could just stay in Italy. It's gorgeous there, you're learning Italian, and your partner has interests there too. Why come back? Your fawtl family is online, so there's nothing to lose.

You're a bad influence.

She has nonweapon proficiencies! Yeah for old school!

My wife did something similar the first time she played a paladin in a game she was in when we were dating. She ended up with a blue dragon wyrmling as a cohort, and she forced the poor little guy to sing "Happy Songs" every day. I think the dragon either killed itself or slowly went mad, became Lawful Good, and was avoided by almost every other dragon due to his awful singing.

Interesting morning/afternoon.

I now feel like hell:

I had the day off to go to a doctor's check-up at 1330.

After waking up early and taking a nap, I woke up at a little after 1100 and felt as if I were going into insulin shock. I checked my blood sugar and it was 221. (I believe the units are mg/dl...) Average is 80 to 120. So, no insulin shock and it was up a little bit. :(

Normally at that time of day I would take a fast-acting insulin shot (humalog, it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to START working) with the dosage based upon the current value of my blood sugar (how much it is over 140) and based upon how many grams of carbs I plan to eat for lunch. So, I took a dosage that should have been sufficient to bring it down to 140 (after it began to work...) and added a fairly large amount to compensate for the big lunch I intended to go out and eat. :)

Then, I took a quick shower and got dressed. I always make a point to check my blood sugar before driving as anything under 80 could very well be dangerous to drive. Dangerous as in similar to driving drunk although at what blood sugar level such motor skill losses actually occur will vary from time to time. Less than 20 minutes after my previous check (and before my insulin shot had begun to take effect...) my blood sugar level was now 101!

You see, SOMETIMES when I feel as if my blood sugar is low, it is because it is rapidly dropping. So, when I tested it at 221 it was not low but my blood sugar level was rapidly dropping.

At this point my blood sugar was 101, dead in the middle of average, but I had taken a dosage designed to lower my blood sugar 80 points from 221 to 140. With my blood sugar having dropped to 101 on its own before the insulin began to take effect, this dosage would probably drop my blood sugar level down into the 20s. Easily coma range. So, I would need some serious sugars and carbs to bring it up/keep it from dropping. But, I didn't just take a dosage big enough to drop my blood sugar 80 points, I had an additioinal amount to take care of all the carbs I had intended to eat for lunch.

In other words, if I took in enough carbs to equal a large lunch, that would hold my blood sugar levels up and keep it from dropping below the 20s. Of course, as previously stated, 20s is already in the coma range. :(

Needless to say, I didn't go anywhere and stayed ready. I drank a lot of the one gallon Arizona Southern Style Sweet Tea jug that I had in the fridge. I did go into a fog for a bit of a while but came back out of it. Eventually, I went out anf got a lunch after my head cleared of its fog.

Now, the fog is gone from my head but I have been with a headache from hell.

I missed my check-up. Stupid carb counting.

Nah, I don't listen to any radio. Period. The only time I do is to listen to the local AM station for the local talking heads (not politics related) and traffic updates ... however they do syndicate both of those buttmunches. That's when my bloviator warning goes off and I switch the dial or throw on the iPod.

Which part? That I'm respectful or that you're a militant atheist?

After skimming the recent posts, most of them I didn't feel the need to respond to. With yours, I wanted to see if there was something specific I could address. It didn't seem that there was so I thought I'd let you vent away.

Your respectfulness has long been a thorn in my side!

Besides, we've already had the conversation in the latest round of posts many times in the past.

It's the militant thing that gets my goat. I don't hold religious belief in particularly high regards, but I also don't advocate getting rid of religion altogether, which is something I associate with militant athesists. That said, I do get pissed off at anti-evoluntion arguments, which I find as reasonable as flat-earth arguments. It doesn't make me militant it makes me...

For the record, I wasn't actually referring to Sebastian as a militant atheist, just the overall attitude of some in there. I'm not even sure where he falls faith-wise as I have missed large chunks of that other thread's discussion.

Geez, man, that was a close call! I can tell you're vigilant, which is good, but diabetes still scares me. I lost a friend/coworker at 37 when he messed up his blood sugar. He was trying that tight management technique (always 90-100, frequent checks and insulin shots) and rode the ragged edge once too much. Take care. Hope you get it stable and feel better soon. Geez.
