4th Ed (D&D) Exalted

4th Edition

As per another thread, I am interested to hear what(if any) work has been done to create an Exalted setting (originally from White Wolf) using the 4th edition D&D as the system.

Origional Exalted had excellent possibilities but the System sadly proved very poor( as experienced by most White Wolf players ang Storytellers I think).

I would also like to know.

Head over to rpg.net - they talk about this a lot.

I am looking, but I am not seeing. Could you link to some of the stuff?

Your search-fu is an inspiration, David.

I'd like to confess that I know very little about Creation; all I have is the core 2e book and I only played a by-the-book Exalted game for a very short time before running my own game. So I played fast and loose with my own rendition of Creation; for example I decided that lunar exalts can literally smell or see the powerful aura of an exalt, which is how the dragon bloods were able to constantly harry my PCs through Creation. (The dragon bloods capture lunars whenever possible to use for this purpose.)

Anywho, the campaign started at level 1 -- the PCs being freshly exalted nobodies. I treated the heroic tier as a kind of prolonged exaltation; I leveled the party up every two encounters to reflect their rapid power gain but also because I and one of my players are sick of the heroic tier. Unfortunately I got burned out by 8th level, partially as a result of my players not expressing much ambition. I'd like to get back to the campaign in the future, as I have plans to work out a warfare/nation building rule set.

These are the monsters I wrote for Creation. I'll likely go back and tweak them at some point.

Thi is just a random thought off the top of my head. Let me know what you think.

Dawn Caste-Fighter or Warlord
Day Caste-Cleric or Invoker (?)
Twilight Caste-Ranger or Rogue
Eclipse Caste-Not sure, maybe Avenger or Bard
Night Caste-Wizard

Lunars-Druid

That's all I really have for now. It was just a random thought.

I'd say not to explicitly link classes to castes, other than leaving druids and wardens for the lunars. You could probably trust players to choose both a class and a caste that's appropriate for their character concept and don't oppose eachother.

Also, you mixed up Twilight and Night Castes, but that's not really that big a deal.

Iwas just trying to see how the 4e classes could duplicate the castes in Exalted. Since the castes themseves had different roles, such as Dawn caste being warriors and Day caste being priests, I thought that using the classes would make sense. Otherwise I'm not sure if castes would be a feat or a "race." And yeah, I realized I had mixxed them up. I have had way to little sleep the last few days.

Looks good but the PDF on the site is missing by the looks of things :(.

Looks pretty good though.

I assume that all PCs are solars, and that any other exalt types are 'monsters.' Maybe it's just me, but I like associating rule sets with in-game stuff like that. (Dragon-blood = goon, Sidereals and Lunars = standard)

I think it'd be cool to assign each class to a caste, but I'd also want to have different options for PCs of different castes -- because solar caste really doesn't matter in Creation's current Age so players are prone to forget about it otherwise. I didn't even bother mentioning caste in my campaign.

Maybe because Exalted is a human-only world, racial powers could be stolen, relabeled and assigned to to the castes. I let my players each choose a racial power anyway...

So whos gonna run a game? I'd like to see how it plays.

Dark Archive

I would too. I'd rather be a player in this game though.

G*& D@#MIT... I can't find my exalted book...bugger, I can't even get started on the conversion!!!

BLAST!!

I'd offer to DM, but I have a bad track record with pbp games. I always seem to lose focus.
