Whats the next country book after the River Kingdoms :)
While neither is necessarily a "nation," both the Mwangi Expanse and Kaer Maga will be detailed in Heartof the Jungle and City of Strangers, respectively.

We haven't publicly announced any plans for an Ustalav book.
But stay tuned. ;-)

February 2011, the AP after Serpent's Skull is gonna be a Ravenlofty thing in Ustalav.
I'm calling it.
Edit: I'm also calling Tian Xia in Aug 2011.
For what it's worth, I called the PF RPG pretty much right when 4E was announced. =p
I think you win. And judging by the Companion/Chronicle scheduling to date, it is likely we will get a Ustalav Chronicle or Companion or both when the AP comes out

It'll probably be just like we just got this month for Sargava. A Chronicle on Ustalav as a whole then a Companion on the specific province the AP starts off in.

Maybe a Lastwall Companion where Carrion Crown might start and an Ustalav Book?
Im actually avoiding going into Ustalav with my group, I dont really have enough info other than its a very politically fractured country with demons and crazies running around. I like to try and avoid going off on a limb and creating stories that contradict the established history and such for an area.

Carrion Crown is set 100% in Ustalav. It won't be doing anything with Lastwall at all, except MAYBE in a secondary sort of way like how there was some information about Cheliax scattered here and there through Curse of the Crimson Throne.

Not James, but the answer is te Adventure Path after Serpent's Skull (starting in Feb.)

Hate to say it, but "Carrion Crown" made me think "Legacy of Fire: Howl of the Carrion King" + the "Crimson Throne" AP. Korvosa with gnolls?
Either that or an actual crown made out of meat.
Ewwww.
"Behold! I am the princess of processed meats!"
*Puts on crown made of (mostly) sausage inna bun, and her nice bologna-slices cape*

If the title of a Paizo AP makes you associate that product with another Paizo AP, I don't really see that as much of a bad thing.

what about carrion hill:
The strange city of Carrion Hill has long loomed over the surrounding swamps in eastern Ustalav, yet its rulers have shifted many times through the centuries. Often enough that only a few sinister scholars and curious minds know the true nature of the hill’s original inhabitants—vile and depraved cultists of the Old Gods. Yet this morning, a dreadful recrudescence rises from the depths of buried nightmare in the vaults below Carrion Hill. A monster stalks the twisted alleys of the city, spreading panic before it and leaving destruction in its wake. Can the Carrion Hill Horror be stopped?

So who came up with the name first, because this is in World of Warcraft:
Quote:Carrion Hill is a skeleton-riddled mound northeast of Auchindoun in the Bone Wastes. It is the feeding grounds of several carrion birds. The huge white carrion bird Trachela lives here.
Carrion Hill was originally written by Rich Pett (who I'm 99% sure does not know much at all about Warcraft) about 4 or 5 years ago. That manuscript remained unpublished at Paizo until last year.
There's plenty of other examples of parallel development/design along these lines if you look at enough worlds, actually. It's not that uncommon.

While I'm not sure if the word Calistria is actually taken from Real World lore but I saw the name in a Warhammer 40K product the other day so yeah, it happens.

The name "Calistria" came from a simple corruption of the name Callisto, who (in Greek mythology) was a nymph. That name itself at its most basic translates into something like "most beautiful." We changed the spelling a bit because Calistria is an elf, not a human myth from Greece, but the basic idea is the same. I suspect in Elven, the name "Calistria" translates into something like "dangerous beauty."

Why is that? Was there any particular reason why you guys didn't publish it sooner?
I have to say that I'm absolutely thrilled about the Ustalav book and Carrion Crown AP! Unleash the deranged duo known as Pett & Logue (TM), and Golarion (along with a huge number of unfortunate players) won't be the same ever again! ;)

Speaking of whch, how often do Paizo announce new books and add product pages? Trying to figure out roughly when we can expect the next batch of Paizo goodness.
Rather than retype the whole thing, I just copy-pasted what I wrote about this from the Tian Xia Book thread:
Official product announcements lately have been done in four month blocks and about six months in advance of the beginning of the block. For example, the thread in this forum announcing the Sept-Dec 2010 products was posted mid-Feb, so do not expect any official announcements til maybe mid-July for Jan-Apr 2011. There will probably be a hardcover book on that schedule, though whether it will be the next book in the new version of the Campaign Setting series is hard to say, though that is the only hardcover I can think of that would be coming out at that time.

From my years of working in the book industry, the answer is you release info about 3 times a year, usually about February, June and October. Now the thing that changes that in the gaming industry is GenCon. So more then likely we will get actual dates for Jan-April 2011 (possibly a little more due to it being August instead). We do know that there will be 4 AP's (6 of Serpent's Skull and 1-3 of Carrion Crown), 2 Companions one of which will be about Ustalav in some way, 4 Campaign Setting books one of which will be about Ustalav, and the date for Ultimate Magic.

Carrion Hill was originally sent to us by Rich for an adventure to be printed in Dungeon magazine. The way we ran Dungeon, we had every adventure planned out a year in advance, so by the time Rich sent in his proposal, the EARLIEST we could publish the adventure was a year away.
Further complicating things was the fact that in an issue of Dungeon that contains an adventure path installment, the room left for the two non-adventure path installments was pretty small. Carrion hill was a pretty sizable adventure, and would NEVER have fit into an issue of Dungeon that also had an adventure path installment, so the plan was to publish Carrion Hill soon after we finished with Dungeon's "Savage Tide" adventure path. And THEN we lost the magazine license, and WotC was gracious enough to extend the license by 4 or 6 months so that we could finish up "Savage Tide."
But that all left Carrion Hill without a place to be published. And it took us this long to finally get to a point where we could fit it in to the module schedule.
It's been a long, strange road for Carrion Hill, but I'm glad it's finally out!
