To Sniggevert and Vanulf Wolfson...

Is there any chance that you guys could expand on your concepts a bit further, rather than just stating race and class? If you could offer anything more in terms of physical description, background, or personality, it would be helpful.

Thanks!

Okay, here is the updated summary:
DM (please, nobody else read this. If I get in, its secrecy is very important):

Spoiler:
Goblin druid fleeing the ghost of his master, whom he betrayed in his cowardice. He's extremely paranoid, and has a lot of various equipment because of this. His animal companion is a pteradon, which he acquired in case the ghost caught him on a ship or suchwhat.

Shadow Lodge

Here's my concept:

Katya the Aasimar Sorceress:
Katya has lived a charmed life throughout her youth. Her slightly odd appearance only seems to accentuate her beauty, and her sweet nature is loved by all. She will be quite the catch, but Katya doesn't want to get married. She feels like she has a greater purpose, she just doesn't know what it is.

A random thought that popped into my head was if I get in along with one of the Tieflings, that we could be siblings. Twins even. There could be some seriously cool RP potential in twins who are literally Ying and Yang. Just a thought...

And an interesting thought it is, too! It might be a little difficult to explain, (especially in the case of twins!) but the role-playing possibilities are quite intriguing.

Actually, since tieflings sometimes skip generations and sucwhat, twins would be possible. As long qas they aren't fraternal twins, that is.

I thought so. And explaining how it works is what gives you the great RP potential. Especially if Katya always went out of her way to protect her twin from being treated like crap. And like Kobold said, both bloodlines can skip generations - so twins aren't inconceivable.

Ok, here goes...

For the dwarven cleric, Dolmar Nilsgun...

Spoiler:

He's an older starting character at 75 years of age. He's got multiple scars on his hands and arms from long days working stone and wood to create buildings and byways.

His father relocated his family (his mother and 2 brothers and 1 sister) to Westcrown from Taggoret in the year following the winning of the Chelaxian civil war. His father was an architect by trade and thought there would be plenty of work in rebuilding a once extravagant country. His family made a small name for themselves as the years went by with the workmanship they showed (as his father taught all of his children the tricks of a master craftsman).

As his father was showing the family how to make a living, his mother was responsible to showing the family why they did what they did. She taught all of her children the basic beliefs that Abadar espouses to his flock. While his brothers and sisters paid lip service over time, Dolmar took to heart his mother's teachings of civilization and city building, and interwove his beliefs into his efforts in crafting buildings/streets/sewers to pass the test of time.

However, no matter how good the family was, over time business slowed, as Westcrown started to rot and fall into itself. This lack of new work, and the lack of proper maintenance of past works, struck the family hard. Dolmar's father in the end decided to move his wife back to the dwarven homeland in 4670. Dolmar and his siblings had truly known no other life, and stayed in Westcrown...much to their dismay. Shortly thereafter, the night hauntings began, and over the years one of Dolmar's brother and his only sister were victims to the beasts that stalk the night. While his brother ended up turning to the barrel for comfort for the loss of family, it instilled a burning fire in Dolmar (Westcrown Firebrand), as his deity has shown him, this is NOT the way.

Dolmar has remained faithful to Westcrown, and while has been unable to do anything as of yet to save her, he hopes to have a chance.

For Unglak Runario-Skullcrusher the half-orc...

Spoiler:

He was the illegitimate off-spring of an old bloodsport actor/dottari and a serving wench from one of the baser inns in Westcrown. While his mother was nothing special, she was the only true parent Unglak had. His father refused to believe he was the father, until after Unglak was born and the race was unmistakable, as was the familial jawline with singular left tusk. From thereon, his father never publicly denied the child, but was not a major participant in his life. The only thing he showed Unglak was how to take a beating, and to not let it show how much it hurt (Child of Infamy).

Due to his popularity, Unglak's father was definitely better off than most of his dottari counterparts, and occasionally managed to keep up with the blood-plays that would be in town. In part out of guilt, and in part to keep the nagging to a minimum, he did set aside some coins every few months and gave them to Unglak and his mother. Unfortunately, his father's lifestyle got the better of him. One evening on patrol, his father (and most of his dottari patrol) perished. The one remaining dottari was quite mad, and they were never able to get much coherent out of him about the encounter other than the man with the red eyes was coming for him...

Unglak is quite young, barely 15, and has been applying to the dottari regularly since the death of his father 2 years ago. He wants to find a way to find out exactly what happened to his father, and kill whatever is behind it. The night haunts are his greatest enemy (and fear).

Allara Devereaux
the teenage daughter of a teriary house Allara has been raised by a family haunted by it's former glory. The raven haired, green eyed youngster longs to return her family to a position of power and is not above dealing with any being capable of fulfilling her dreams.
While not exactly evil she is driven and amoral in the pursuit of her goals. Because of her families dealings with the lower planes Allara has learned how to use her skills of persuasion to get others to do as she wishes and summon creatures stonger and more durable than normal.

Thanks guys!

So, at this point it looks like the only person who really hasn't given me a concept to look at is Wilhem.

I'll be announcing the players tomorrow, probably not until the afternoon. So, if anybody wants to throw anything else out there beforehand, there's still a bit of time.

I will say that with this many good ideas to pick from, I'll certainly be choosing six players.

Shadow Lodge

More on Katya. What was previously written has been included/edited as well...

Katya, Aasimar Sorceress:
Katya has lived a charmed life throughout her youth. Bron into a wealthy family, she has had everything a girl could want in life. The best tutors, clothes, and resources have all been at her disposal thanks to a doting father, Marcel. There is evidence of 'more than human' heritage, with her long hair like polished copper, and brilliant eyes the colour of blue topaz, but this unearthly beauty seems only to accentuate her appeal, instead of diminishing it.
She is a kind person, and her sweet nature is loved by all. She always tries to see the good in people, and rarely lets hardship get her down. She will eventually make a good match, but Katya doesn't want to get married. In fact, the only thing that has allowed her to remain unmarried for so long is that her father still dotes on her extensively. Pressure from other houses, however, is causing her father to seriously consider marrying her off to cement strong ties with the upper nobility.
Katya feels like she has a greater purpose, she just doesn't know what it is. This has been further proved to her by the sudden development of strange, sorcerous powers. She has never felt as free as when she is performing magic - regardless of it's purpose.

Shadow Lodge

The boards just ate a post that detailed a few more concepts (in case Katya wasn't to your liking). So here they are again. They are listed in order of my playing preference. Although Katya and Elysia are tied.

Elysia, Human Monk:
Hailing from a wealthy (but not politically powerful) merchant family, Elysia was trained by a disgraced Vudrani practicioner in the arts of being armed while unarmed. When her family fell on hard times 9her father was a compulsive gambler), Elysia used her abilities to help her father regain some of his lost money. But his creditors caught up with him, and he is now dead, their family impoverished. Elysia knows there is something terribly wrong with Westcrown, and she is going to do something about it.

Aleron, Tiefling Cleric of Asmodeus:
A Lawful Neutral person who takes his deals very seriously, Aleron is of the opinion that Good and Evil are subjective. He's the child of a powerful noble house that left him on the steps of one of the many churches to Asmodeus. The church treated him hypocritically, both as "less than human" and as an "asset Asmodeus clearly has a purpose for". Aleron will likely develop into the Sorcerer class (Infernal Bloodline), and would suit a group that already contained a primary spellcaster of both the divine and arcane variety.

If still possible ... I'd like to give it a shot ...

I'll throw up a character today, and post it here.

If I'm too late, too bad ... and good luck then :)

Pontius Augustinus

Spoiler:

Not sure about the class, but I'm thinking of a know-it-all, would be noble who has survived the Westcrown decline by his charming good looks and ability to lie his way out of just about everything.

Statwise, high charisma and intelligence. Combat abilities are a good second priority ... since he could either lie his way out of trouble, or chat up somebody who could do his fighting for him.

He's living of his uncles fame and name, a performer of greater reknown in Westcrown. And a true member of the nobility. Unfortunately, his uncle moved to Golarion with the other real nobles and left him in Westcrown. A bit fed up with him, because of his lack of talent. All unknowning, he think that his uncle was forced to leave to save his life.

He's calls himself an actor, but his only acting job has been a small part in a cheap badly produced play. He also hangs around the real actors, trying to get onto their good side ... and trying VERY hard to talk and act like they do.

He thinks that he's a very good actor that just needs to be discovered, and blames the current rulers of Westcrown of conspiring against him. After all, since his uncle has left, his life has gone down the drain.

If only he could show them how great an actor he really is, he's sure they will give him the proper respect he deserves. Perhaps if the current rule were to disappear, he could sit on the counsel.

(Yes, delusions of grandeur are a big part of his life ;))

Personally he can get along with people fine, just as long as number one, me myself and I, do not get into too much trouble others can help him out of. (Chaotic Good-ish alignment.)

I'm thinking either human rogue or bard, with the Child of Infamy campaign trait. With or without the money if you like ... It's the background I'm interested in, not the gold :)

Feats would be Deceitful and Dodge(going for Spring Attack).

Skills would include Bluff and Perform(Act). Not sure about the rest, that depends on if I go for bard or rogue.

If there's still time to submit for inclusion in the pool, I'd like to throw my hat in. This profile is a character I had made for another Council of Thieves PbP that didn't get past the second encounter of the sewer crawl. I still haven't been able to participate in a PbP seriously yet, but my new laptop arrives on Tuesday, meaning that I can start posting daily (or even more).

Character concept is a Fighter/Rogue (more fighter then rogue) who is a drunk trying to kick the habit (info in my character background).

As I said, I already had this character completely made (of course I'll remove the healing potions).

TDL and ChrisRev, I'll throw your guys into the pool for consideration, and with that, we'll call the application window closed (with the only exception that if Wilhem gets something in before I make the decision, I'll look at that too).

I'll post the six players who get in later this afternoon...I need to think things over a bit first. It's a tough call!

Sorry, HERE'S the character profile for my previous Council of Thieves PbP (this is ChrisRevocateur)

Just in time it seems :)

Thanks for taking up the character in the pool.

I created the background pretty roughly, so if you want any changes to fit your/the campaign needs .. just let me know.

It's altered pretty fast.

Thanks again.

Hey, PsionicFox, are you still interested in playing Jeric Darkstar. I've taken over as DM in Zoomackulu's (or however it's spelled) Council of Thieves.

The Exchange

Cry Havoc!, something came up and I am going to have to bow out of this one. Thanks for the opportunity!

It's quite alright, and thanks for letting us know! Maybe next time.

Okay, all, the time has come!

First, let me thank everyone who expressed interest, and express my regrets that several of you will be disappointed not to get in. It was a tough decision to narrow it down to six players, so I just had to draw the line with those who looked like they would be the best fit for my DMing style. That said, here are the players I'm going to go with.

MoFiddy
Celestial Half-Porc
PsionicFox
Sniggevert
Camris
far_wanderer

If you six gentlemen would be so kind as to accompany me to the discussion thread we can begin creating characters in earnest. By posting in that thread, you will confirm that you still want your spot in the game.

For those not picked for now, I'll consider each of you as an alternate, unless directed otherwise. Please do keep an eye on things for the next day or two, just in case any of the six above should step out. Thanks again to all of you, and good gaming!

Sniff ... Didn't make it in :(

Well best of luck to to ones that made it :)

Good luck to those that made it. Make us proud!

Awe...if you ever find yourself in need of a cleric, my character stands ready!
Good luck to those that made it in and have fun!

I will monitor the game threads and be ready to step in when needed.

Bump.

Calling Celestial Half-Porc!

Hi folks,

Celestial Half-Porc had to step out of the game due to Real Life issues.

ChrisRevocateur, I'd like to give you first crack at stepping in to take on the sixth PC slot, if you're still game. What say you?

I'm game. Kyras will report immediately!
