Linked below is a free Excel-based character sheet creator. (Sorry, it is not compatable with Open Office).

General Information

  • It is designed for printing off a character. Although it can be used for in-game play on a laptop, that is not its primary focus at this time.
  • It is a 4-page landscape/horizontal design. (Page 1: all stats & skills; Page 2: all text related information on abilities, feats, etc.; Page 3: equipment; Page 4: Weapons & Armor)
  • It is not a replacement for the Pathfinder Core Rulebook - you will likely need to make occasional references to your Rulebook.
  • Ease of Use as its primary design focus.
  • Customization as its secondary focus. I wanted to make it easy for people to add in non-core rule information.
  • Non-Excel users should not have a problem using the sheet.
  • This sheet does not (and will likely never) create a spell list. (There are already other sheets out there that do this quite well).
  • In the future I do plan to have a Stat-block option.
  • Excel macros will need to be enabled under your security settings.
  • I am currently creating a "Store" option where you can gear up your character.

I would like to invite anyone with Excel installed on their PC to download the sheet and give it a test. The sheet has been in Alpha testing for several months now and most of the major bugs have been worked out.

Making a 12th level Tiefling fighter, and have found some minor issues-

On Levels tab, after selecting Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, and Greater Weapon Focus for same weapon (Halberd), Greater Weapon Specialization offers me no choices to choose a weapon.

On Skills tab, this character has a 14 Int (w/ the +2 for being a Tiefling), but the given skill points are only 3 per level.
Also, when you assign an added bonus to a skill via the green box on this tab, it gets added twice when calculating the value for tab Page 1.

On Languages tab, the character is given only 1 bonus language pick in spite of 14 Int.

On Arms tab, Composite Longbow does not appear in drop down menu when I selected List Proficient Weapons option.

And when you select the Trait 'Infernal Bastard', the Elemental Resistances to Cold,Fire and Electricity still appear on Tab Page 1.

Except for the resistances, all of these bugs can be handled via the overrides, but I thought you would like to know about them.

Overall I am very impressed with this sheet.

Shadow Lodge

The Sling weapon is marked as 2 handed, which gives it a 2 handed strength bonus to damage. So a strength 18 character gets 1d4 + 6 damage, instead of 1d4 + 4.

Thanks for testing this out. I have now fixed all of this. Skill calculations were messed up quite a bit, but should be correct now.

Thanks for noticing this... I just uploaded v 0.28, so I'll have this fixed on v 0.29.

The latest release is now available on the original post link.

Alpha version 0.28

Now using Ogresheet2 v28
Same character (Tiefling Fighter 12)

Traits tab does not appear

on skills tab, skill points are too high (gves 5 per level, actual value should be 4)

Other issues from previous posting fixed (except for elemental resistances, which haven't been tested since traits tab missing)

The Traits tab should appear as soon as you check the "Enable Traits" option on the Options sheet.

I see I messed up a total formula on the skills. I'll have that fixed for tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Great work.

But .. custom languages that have been entered and selected still do not display correctly on Page 1 of the character sheet. Instead, Darklands languages are displayed.
This is in both versions of the release.

With regards to my last post and saying the traits tab didn't appear, I am pretty sure now that I caused this to happen myself. Whenever I load up a workbook, Excel pops up a window telling me I need to enable macros. If I click on the enable traits box on your sheet, prior to enabling macros, a check box appears in the enable traits box, but the traits tab won't appear. This is most likely what I accidentally did before my last posting (sorry bout that).

Just made 12th level Tiefling fighter with Ogresheet2 v29 and I believe everything is good.

This really great work, and I thank you for doing it. I would like to suggest adding a box under each weapon choice on the arms tab, that allows you to give the weapon a name. So a magic weapon named 'Excelsior', could appear on the back sheet as 'Excelsior', but you could also name it 'Power Attack' or 'Deadly Aim', if thats what you want to appear at the top of the box on tab Page 4.

In testing the sheet with a half-elf lvl 4 ranger using two-weapon combat option the Arms sheet seems to miss calculating the off-hand weapon to hit. The cell is returning a value greater than the primary weapon (with the off-hand weapon light option).

Also the Abilities page comes up empty.

In Pathfinder, Paladin spellcasting characteristic changed from WIS to CHA.

As opposed to a shameless bump for this thread and great character sheet, I thought I'd ask if there was anything new or in the works Kor?

I have a request. My DM allows several bonus feats at first level. Would it be possible to allow the ability to select more than 2 feats for each level on the Class tab?

Thanks for your awesome excel sheet!

Well, the sheet design doesn't really allow for much more than 2 extra feats per level, and even with that I think there could be circumstances where the 4 feature selections per level could be exceeded (on the Levels sheet).

I suspect in time I may have to increase the 4 features selections to at least 5. I had to compromise a little on this sheet, as I ideally didn't want people to have to go hunting (scrolling) around a sheet to find if there is anything they have to complete / select.

What a generous DM if they allow more than 2 extra bonus feats! I think I can at least squeeze 1 more out of level 1 though. A human wizard or arcane sorcerer both take up 5 lines, so there are 3 to spare.

I will bump up these limited extra feats though when I decide to tackle increasing the selections per level.

For now, the next revision (v0.31) will allow you to select 3 extra feats at level 1 (instead of 2), however the 3rd selection will likely not appear in its natural order (will be changed in the future).

Thanks.

Currently I am working on the following:

- feats from Campaign Setting
- item allotment
- finishing the Hellknight PrC input

I took about a week off, so there has been no development. I will be starting on this again this week.

Once I am done with these, my last planned content before beta is:

- NPC classes
- Stat Block / Character summary page.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the progress.

Note: There is a bug when selecting the Arcane Bloodline for Sorcerer, this will be fixed in the next version.

I found the problem with the off-hand calculations, this will be fixed on next release.

Do you have macros turned on? This could be why Page2 (Abilities sheet) is not showing up. Are you able to use the "Clear Sheet" buttons? If you can't, then macros are not enabled.

If macros are enabled, then it could be a result of some error. #N/A should be appearing on the Abilities screen.

Could you please let me know which of these is applicable to what you are noticing.

Thanks for mentioning these.

Sorry about that but links are still pointing at v0.30

However thanks a lot mate I'm loving your work and I'm using it a lot

Thanks for mentioning that, I uploaded the wrong files. It is now fixed.

I'm happy to hear you are finding the sheet useful. Thanks.

Thanks Kor,

It does indeed point to v0.31 now but FYI the webpage still describes it as v0.30

Thanks for the latest update - I'm also loving your work!

Shadow Lodge

I just downloaded it and got the 0.30 version, dated January 3rd.

*EDIT* this is for the .xlms sheet, the .xlm points to the correct version

this sheet is really nice and is easy to use, but for a guy like me who uses all 3.5 books with his pathfinder campaign(completely home brew). so when the updated one is released it can have info from 3.5 aswell. i.e. complete divine, adventurer, arcane etc.

that would add alot of stuff & take alot of time to include & I personally dont think its needed - our group plays pathfinder not D&D - if I wanted 3.5 stuff I would play D&D but hey thats just me & maybe Orc is already thinking of doing it for his own use so now he knows someone else would like it he may include it but if this was to be the case then it would have to be included as options like campaign stuff

no offence is intended if it comes across that way I apologise

Scarab Sages

found what I think is a small bug
I have created a dwarf rogue/druid without weapon finesse but when I choose dagger in the arms section it is giving me Dex +4 ability modify instead of the Str +2 modifier for the attack - damage is correct
I have not selected any overrides like making it thrown but have left it as standard as one-handed

I have now used the override on the bottom (bonus override) to make it 6 instead of 8 (including the 4 BAB)

otherwise up to here this sheet has worked terrifically
great job

Great sheet!

OK, I think I may have found a major bug. On Page3 of the character sheet, I'm unable to add any items to the Equipment column. All the other columns (Weapons, Scroll, Potions, etc.) work fine. This was working previously, just not for build .031.

Another suggestion: Many DMs use custom campaign feats in their games. On the Traits tab, how about adding a "Custom Trait" option to the Trait Selection drop-down list, and let the user type in a custom trait name. That way at least the name of the trait will show up on the Page2 of the character sheet.

Scarab Sages

I couldnt add to potions either or use worn magic items area

also how can I add my animal companion or familiar - just write it in or do you plan on making a section for adding this in?

Kor I think I have found a bug for you...

This is just a display bug - on the classes screen when I create a first level character with the standard rules it shows me the full hit points (ie max for the given HD plus CON bonus) in the HP mods field. Should that not show max HP in the rolled column and then the CON modifier in the HP mods column?

Thanks for trying out the sheet.

I don't really have any plans at this time to add and WotC 3.5 material. Unfortunately, it would just take far too much time. I even debated on whether to include any Pathfinder 3.5 material, and finally decided to add some of it.

I have tried to make the sheet easily customizable though, so you should be able to add the required feats / classes for a specific character.

Currently, any melee weapon that can be thrown defaults as a "Ranged Weapon" as its Use.

If you change its Use to "Melee" under the Specifics, you should get the correct total.

I think I may consider changing the default for these combined melee and thrown weapons to "Melee", as I suspect this may get overlooked commonly.

Thanks for mentioning this though.

I'll unlock that column. I am creating an item selection sheet and have locked a few columns for testing on page 3. Eventually all the columns on page 3 will be locked.

I'm hoping to have a new version out later today, however in the mean time you can either Unprotect the worksheet and use it (just type over the existing formulas), or you can Unhide the Items sheet, and use the General Equipment. (The Potions and Magic Items areas are also locked... I will unlock these too. I believe I have completed all 3 of these areas on the Items sheet, so this is also another way to complete them if you unhide the sheet)

Ceefood wrote:

Yes, for now just write it in. I do plan to have a section for these in the near future.

I will be unlocking all of the sections on page 3. Just ignore (type over) any formulas that may appear in the cell.

Technically, you are correct :)

The HP Roll column is a "user entry" column. If I put in a formula there, then there is a risk of loosing the formula whenever a number is typed in. I could possibly trigger a macro to type in the number into the HP Roll box, but I like to try to run as few automated macros as possible. I decided the best way to do this, was to just lump it all together in the HP Mods column.

Perhaps in the future I can add some columns in beside Pre-req's to show the breakdown of what's being calculated in the HP Mods box (i.e.: Auto Assigned HP / CON Mod / Toughness / Favored)

All errors identified prior to this patch have been fixed, including a few minor ones to the Bard class and the display of Martial Weapon proficiencies.

Okay here's a bug in the latest version Kor.

I just created a level 1 bard and on page 2 of the finished sheet it lists for Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage +0.

That should be +1 I believe.

Good catch. I will have that updated on the next version I plan to release later today.

I also noticed that Inspire Competence was giving an extra +1.

Thanks.

Excellent work as always Kor - keep it up!

I do have a couple suggestions for you, just in case you need some because you don't have enough to do with this sheet yet. ;)

Page 2 of the finished sheet (which lists all your abilities and such) I find to be invaluable but somewhat plain in appearance. Is there anyway you can pretty it up like having bolded underlined section titles, or perhaps ability names in italics and such? I think it would make things look much better and be wasier to find, however I can already hear your "No because of the way it is implemented answer". Thought I would ask though.

The second suggestion is for spellcasters. How about adding the number of spells per day the caster is allowed? It looks to me like there would be room in the spells box on the first page of the finished sheet. It could be simply a number of spell slots in each level, or perhaps check boxes...

The Page 2 format limitations are actually that of Excel. With Excel you are stuck with 1 type of format for the entire text. So if I wanted to bold something, I would have to bold all lines of text. The best work around that I could find was using some symbols to help accent certain text.

I like the idea of adding the number of spells per day. I don't really want to add too much more to the spell info box, as when you are a multi-classed spellcaster it can get pretty full. I am thinking the best way to do this is to do one of two things:
#1 Since spells per day is not a frequent reference, just have them indicated in the class description area.
#2 Since save DC's are essentially the same base number, plus the spell level, I could drop the existing DC's display and replace it with a "Base spell save DC". However, since this is not a game term I am unsure if some players would know that all they do is just add their spell level to it. By shortening this, I could then add in the spells per day into the spell info area.

On the Custom sheet I would then need to add an area to allow users to increase spells per day for a given spellcaster class.

I'll try to figure out which is best and add it into the next release. Thanks for the suggestions.

Alpha version 0.35

Numerous errors fixed and several additions - mostly related to various classes.

Okay Kor - what you have done with the spells know looks terrific. Exactly what I wanted even except for one thing, the info isn't correct for some of the classes. From what I can see it looks:

Good for wizard

Correct for cleric except you don't indicate domain spell slots

Good for Druid

Sorceror and Bard you used the wrong table - you are showing spells known instead of spells per day

Paladin and Ranger I am getting an error #VALUE in the spells box - after level 4

Thanks for the added spell info, but I think you need a tweak or two still.
