Ugh. Sorry to hear that. I hope you get a better opportunity soon.

I'm fairly certain my lingering illness is partially caused by the 20-degree swing in temperature during the course of the day where I work. Sometimes when the air conditioning and the heaters are running at the same time (yes, really), the temperature is a reasonable mid-70s. Most of the time, the A/C is running in the morning, and the temp is around 64. By lunchtime, after the A/C has been off for 3 hours, the temp is up to 84.

I'm sensitive to temp swings too. Uch.

I work in a Cal lab that is required to adhere to ANSI standards.
We maintain a temperature range from 68 degrees F to 75 degrees F all year round and are forced to stop calibrations if we go outside those limits. The allowable humidity rangee from 15% to 65%. We would be forced to stop calibrating outside that range also but have never had to deal with that problem.

I wish we did because it would be nice to have another gamer in here.
But, we are on a shoestring budget right now. :(
Our national budget was cut by 20% and the guys at the top shoestringed everything in order to keep from letting lab workers go.
But, normally it would require having an elctronics technician background, proven ability to follow verbatim compiance instructions to an exacting degree without error, and the ability to gain a security clearance.

Well, Friday was (supposedly) the day that I would finally get to pick up my side table to complete my living room furniture. On January 29th, my sister was supposed to drive over and meet me at Value City Furniture to pick it up but she backed out. Then it was snowing on the 30th and 31st. Then I was out of town from the 1st to the 5th and then she backed out again the next weekend when it snowed again. But, that was OK with me. I was asking for her help and beggers can't be choosers.
So, we made arrangements to do it Friday evening. Then when I remembered that I had Thursday afternoon off for a doctor's appointment I asked if Thursday during the day would be better for her and she said that it would be much better. So, I arranged to take the whole day off on Thursday. Of course, she cancelled on me again. :(
We decided to do it Friday after I got off work and the actual time we would start would depend on whether or not she could get someone to take her youger daughter somewhere. So, I called her from work on Friday to find out the schedule and she still didn't know. So, I finally called her back later at work (she didn't call me back) and the story had now changed. She wanted me to come in to her place to help her move some furniture out of the garage so that her husband could work on one of the cars and then go to get the furniture afterward. My first thought was to say why don't you get him to move it but I knew they had been having some problems and I was asking her for help myself so I said sure.
She also said that her older daughter would want to come out to my place instead of staying home with her father. So, I had to take a little extra time cleaning up my place before coming. But, when I called to say I was on my way, it was deicided by her (I didn't know at that time what she was really planning on having me to do...) that there would not be enough time to help her and pick up my stuff before VCF closed and so she asked if we could do her stuff that night and put mine off again. :( But, hey, I felt bad about not being ready to start sooner so I agreed immediately.
So, I drive 40 minutes to get to her place. Did I mention that I had been up since 0515 in the morning? I get there and I have to wait for her to finish eating dinner and take care of some things before starting. :( Then she shows me the furniture that needs to be moved out of the room where the piece coming out of the garage is going. I have to move chairs out of the way myself. (I thought she might have done stuff like that since I was coming in to help her...) I have to move the furniture out of the room and into another room but the room I was moving that furniture into was one of the rooms I would need to move the piece from the garage through on the way to where it was going. :( So, I completely (temporarily) rearranged that room also. I would need to bring it into a hallway and thus I had to rearrange the furniture there too. UGGH! :(
Now, this is how I would have to move this piece of furniture:
1. Pull it out of the garage.
2. Turn it 90 degrees and then move it down a walkway with bushes on either side.
3. Turn it 90 degrees while on the walkway surrounded by bushes.
4. Lift it up and move it onto the front porch.
5. Lift it up on the step into the house and then pull it into the hallway far enough to close the front door and give some wiggle room.
6. Then I would need to begin a horseshoe shaped path: back toward the door, turn 90 degrees and move across, turn 90 degrees again and then move across one room and into the room where it would stay.
Note 1: When moving into the door and in the hallway I would have to run back and fourth through the house and garage switching sides.
Note 2: I would have to properly orient it before getting onto the walkway to make sure it would end up facing the right way.
Note 3: Turning it 90 degrees on the walkway which was lined with bushes would be a pain.
So, then I go to look at the piece of furniture that my sister was going to put their flatscreen on. Actually IN! It was 36" deep, 72" long, and 60" tall. It was frikkin huge and had thirteen drawers to it! :(
Well annoyed by the situation, annoyed that her son who was supposed to help had split, and annoyed that her husband wasn't helping, I decided to just bust my ass and do it. I did it and I did it fast. :)
Then I was ready to find out where to move all the previously moved furniture so that I could leave and I discovered a problem. I couldn't do that until the TV was set back up inside this big piece I had just moved. So, I had to undo the Gordian Knot. The knot was one big conglomeration consisting of the power cable connected to the TV, the three component cable that was still plugged into the back of the TV and into the back DVD player, the power cable of the DVD player, the five component cable that was still plugged into the back of the TV and into the back of the Wii, the power cord of the Wii, an antenna cable that was plugged into the back of the TV and went to a small box, the power cable coming out of this small box, and another cable going from this small box to the antenna box that would sit on top of the TV. So, I carefully undid the knot, put the TV in the new stand and began to one by one replace the cables, running them through the back of the stand, and doing it all in an orderly fashion. :)
My sister had me jam the stand into the corner and I had a fit doing so while trying to not crush the cables and to not put heavy pressure on the circuit that was plugged into the wall. It was obvious to me that there really wasn't enough space for it where she was putting it. While doing this I found out that the reason her husband wasn't helping was because he didn't want it there because he didn't think there was enough room for it which was what I had thought independently. :( Of course, the "reason" I thought I had put off taking care of my furniture to help my sister was because she needed it out of the garage so that a car could be worked on. But, it turns out that the reason I did so was because she wanted it in there and her husband wouldn't move it in there because he didn't want it in there because he didn't think there was enough room. I will basically take her side against him every time but I did not like being dragged in unknowingly like that. :(
So, my Friday sucked.

I already had a TS clearance back in my Air Force days, so getting a security clearance wouldn't be a problem. Following compliance instructions I can do. Electronics technician, not so much. :)

Wow, lots of hating on Valentine's day. I love this day. Hubby and I always splurge on a nice meal and are very sweet with one another. Its one of my fave days! :)
And speaking of we had a wonderful dinner. I had salad and she crab soup with a seafood platter and Key lime pie. Hubby had steak and fried onion, and teh kids went with a trip to the salad bar and some of the onion. It was a very nice place, and very busy, we had to wait a bit for our food so the manager knocked off the kids meals off the bill as a surprise for us. The food was sooooo good the atmosphere amazing, the kids were so good, and the service was superb. I hope to maybe go again next year. And in case you were all curious, we hit Drunken Jacks. :)

Feeling a lil self concious and needy, must be from lack of sleep. Lord knows I tell Flash enough that lack of sleep isn't good for your mental health. Think I will hit the sack soon. I have to be up fairly early....again.
Good night, Solnes!
I hope you feel better after you get some sleep. :)

More appropriate for today:
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you

Good gaming last night. :)
Today...
Well, we made arrangements to get together and pick up my furniture today. VCF pickup area was open from noon til 1600. she said she would probably not be able to get on the road til about 1400. She calls to let me know she is on the way (30 minutes to VCF from her place) at 1440.
Here are the directions I give to get to VCF:
1. Get on I64 eastbound and drive. Stay on I64.
2. You will come to a sign that says End I64 Begin I664 N. Keep on driving. (There are no merges or exits at that point)
3. Stay on I664 N. Pass the I264 exit, pass the 58 Suffolk exit, pass the Dock Landing road exit. Stay on I664 N.
4. Take the first Portsmouth Boulevard exit and pass through two traffic lights.
5. Turning left at the third light will put you in the parking lot facing VCF.
My sister: Do I get on 58 to go to Suffolk?
Me: No. Do not get on 58 to Suffolk. Do not go to Suffolk. Stay on I64. It will change into I664 N. Stay on I664 N until you get to the first Portsmouth Boulevard exit.
Note about the 58to Suffolk exit: I664 is two lanes when the end of I264 merges its two lanes (as it ends) to run alongside I664 N for about a half mile before veering off as the exit for 58 to Suffolk. When those lanes merge you (coming from where I664 begins) will drive under an enormous sign that says I664 N and has an arrow over top each of the two lanes that you may be driving in. There is an identical sign ahead. The two lanes that merge to the right have an enormous sign that says 58 to Suffolk with arrows over each of the two lanes. There is an identical sign ahead. If you pay attention to the signs, you will stay on I664. If you are oblivious to the signs and just drive in the same lane without changing, you will stay on I664. There is an enormous influx of traffic coming from the end of I264 that tries to merge onto I664N. So, if you try to avoid that traffic pressure, you will move to the left, allowing them to merge, and stay on I664. Merging to the right with that heavy traffic trying to merge left is difficult at best. If you lock your elbows and just physically drive straight, you will stay on I664 N.
So, I am waiting at VCF at 1500 expecting her to get there about 1510. At 1508, I get a phone call from my sister. She got on 58 and is not sure how to get back to I664 N! :( After finally getting her to tell me (with much trouble...) that she had turned around I explain that if she drive straight, 58 will split left and right. Go left and she will be on I664 N. Pass Dock Landing, take the first portsmouth Blvd exit, pass through two traffic lights, and turn left at the third. She calls me back later and says she is on Portsmouth Blvd, doesn't know if she is going the right direction, and doesn't know if she took the first or second exit. :(
If you take the first exit, you veer off right doing basically a 90 degree turn and join the road. If you take the second exit, you veer off, do a 270 degree turn and then get on the road. It is that way with basically all highway exits. Uggh!
She makes it to the parking lot at 1555. We circle around to the pickup area and I get out and walk in at 1559. I barely make it as they close at 1600. :( Uggh!
