Well I have to be up in 6 hours to go back to work for 9 hours. So I am headed to bed. Good night Uri. I hope you sleep well. :)

Thanks! Just catching a couple more minutes of the Olympics then it's time to send the bulldog to his pen and off to join the woman already in bed.

So how is everyone out in the world today?

Morning Moorluck et al. Today I am happy, because I made up all the sleep I had missed in the last few days.

I grew up with a fanatical Steelers fan who obsessed over football. He kinda got me burned out on it at an early age. I used to like boxing, and I will watch the occasional event during the Olympics, if for no other reason to cheer our atheletes on.

I feel you. I think myself there are two main reasons I don't like football. One, my dad was rarely home when I was a kid, and when he was, he was watching sports. When he watched sports, he didn't want to be disturbed. Thus, sports on TV bring back memories of being excluded for me.

Two, I was a big kid by genetics. I was the second tallest kid in my class before growth spurts hit, and I am proportionally wide and thick for my size. Every football coach wanted me as a linebacker on their team. I was already smart enough to figure out even with my relatively large size, I wouldn't go any farther than high school football, and I could see what playing those sports did to the players later in life. The coaches didn't enjoy being told no.

As I got older, I began to despise the whole culture of professional sports, which is populated by prima donnas, thugs and mouth breathers, with a few rare exceptions. I feel no patriotic stirring by watching grown men run a ball back and forth. I also wonder why we pay these idoits more than doctors, scientists or even hedge fund bankers. When I hear about some ninny holding out for an extra $10 million in his contract, it makes me want to find a tire iron and go knee capping.

The Olympics I can respect a bit more, because they are amateurs for the most part. I just find those games a little too saturated with the brainless patriotism you see at sports games here. I'm a big patriot, but jeeze, people, do we have to hear another 'U-S-A-! U-S-A!' chant? I mean, srsly ....

It's better then at a wrasslin' event.

Ugh. I once dated a woman obsessed by WWF wrestling, right about when 'The Rock' was at his peak of popularity. Two months of watching that dreck <shudder>. A freakin' sweaty soap opera.

I never watched sports as a kid, but it is ome thing my kids enjoy, so I havesarted watching it as an adult. Personally I prefer NASCAR, if only because it's asport I believe I could actually be a part of.

Moorluck wrote:

Not bad. Hope all is well with the snow down in your neck of the woods. Here in Iowa, at least Des Moines, we are only 5 inches away from getting the 10 spot in snowiest winters recorded. With another storm coming in today, and the possibility of another next weekend we just might jump up past the 10 spot.

As far as sports I still watch football, only if it's the team I follow. But getting into a lot of the sports that are individual competition instead of team.

Let's see. I'll watch the Olympics. I love college football. I only watch the NFL when it's a Sunday/Monday night game or the playoffs once the college season is over. I pay attention to NCAA basketball when March Madness is in swing. I'll watch MMA and boxing.

I think that about covers it.

Moorluck wrote:

Waking up. I need coffee either in me or over me.

RPG Superstar 2012

We got about an inch of snow here. Nothing that's going to keep us from going to my daughter's Girl Scout cookie booth today.

I'll be back later. I hope you all have a good morning/afternoon (or night, for Flash).

Hey Taig. Please let me now what you think of races when you get the chance, I can't believe no one else has said anything yet.

I don't like sports.

I don't like sports, but I like watching the figure skating. Does that make me gay?

I am often careful to say only "morning". :)

Later guys. I have some finalizing to do in case I run some d20 future today.

I should start planning early. Anybody who would like a new neighbor in about 2-3 years let me know which state so I could start to review their C.P.A laws :) Iowa is getting to cold for my tastes.

If some dude (that's me) had a finance degree 20 years ago, then went back to get an accounting degree, how long would that take?

Patrick Curtin wrote:

It's a shame we disagree on politics so much....or then again, maybe it isn't. We have many things in common, perhaps its good to disagree here and there.

This varies according to state. I'll ask my wife to refresh my memory and get back to you (I assume you're asking for TX).

Heathy:
Looks like 150 hours total required (more than your basic bachelor's), 30 hrs of which must be from required accting course, the specifics of which you can find ONLINE. All of this before you take the CPA exam.

Liberty's Edge

That's helpful; thanks.

Sure man, let me know if I can be of anymore help.

Liberty's Edge

IDK; just thinking about stuff.

Shrugs

Hey I don't begrudge anyone their politics. Hell, most of my family, adoptive and biological are Leftists. My biological mom is a left-wing Canadian, which puts her somewhere slightly right of Marx. If I hated on everyone I knew who didn't agree with me politically, I'd be a very lonely person. Heck my wife is a Green Party voter and a Wiccan, descended from Giles Corey. All I ask is that people respect my views without dragging out pejorative labels like: 'Teabagger', 'racist', 'moron' or the like just because I worry about our nation's long-term solvency.

I prefer to talk about the things we agree on, like Pathfinder. It's nicer that way. I have lately developed an aversion to posting online politically, except the occasional Facebook note. I don't think that forum posts really are a good vehicle for political debate. There's too much trolling. I'll do my politicking with donations to the candidates going up against the party hacks this November ;).

Linky Plus I am converting them from 4E to Pathfinder, if that makes a difference.

David Fryer wrote:

Been avoiding it. Don't care much for how 4E did things and I don't think converting them to Pathfinder will help. Its more of a Fluff issue as oppossed to crunch. If you want crunch responses though I will look on Tuesday and give you my best, which may not be very good, critique.

Dark Archive

Honestly all I have done is the crunch right now. The fluff is the hard part so I'm putting that off. I have an idea for the Dragonborn, basically Apsu reincarnated the souls of dragons killed by Dahak to oppose the schemes of chromatic dragons through out Golarion. Not sure what to do with Devas and such though.

Posted thoughts for you David.

The Devas could be from the India analog [can't recall the name]and all be descended from a now dead diety. Sort of a specific race of Aasimars.

heh heh heh...

I had to suppress a LOL when I read that as it's almost 6am and everyone's still asleep. :)

On the subject of Sports:

I'm not a big Sports fan. I love to watch Basketball (and play, but I'm horrific) and I can watch Rugby League, although I only tend to ever watch when my team plays and even then it's very rare. I do follow the League though, just not religiously like a fanatic would.
They're really the only two "real" sports I can watch/follow.
Other than that, I like to play Ten Pin Bowling but as far as I'm concerned that's one of the "fringe" sports.

I haven't read it David, but I think CJ might be onto something there.

Devas = some kind of Vudran Outsider descended Part-Celestial (I know that Asuras are Vudran based Fiends but I'm not sure that they have a Celestial counterpart?)
Eladrin = Azata(? possibly) descended Part-Celestials
Your Dragonborn idea using Apsu is a good one.
