A couple of points - spellcheck (assist...) and try to rewrite a few of the sentences that start with 'I'. Though it is about you, it's more about your life, your thought processes and the situations where they come into play, forming them and making you rely on them. It's not a big deal but you can showcase some writing skill, and that should help you distinguish yourself a bit more. Pulling one out of a narrative into the situation/experience with you. It's a powerful way of writing. I know, I hate these things too. Good luck.
