let me guess, one of them is secretly a tentacle rape monster

Three concubines means three witches and/or hags. It's that simple. (Well either that or an evil triple aspect celtic goddess bent on plunging the whole world into catastrophic conflict, but I assume that even a RPG Superstar doesn't get permission to blow the world up quite like that, or at least not yet.)

That is so wird, why the fear of sex and nudity, i simply dont get how the Amarican ppl think.
how is a torn of limb less desturbing than a naked body?
Hey, I'm a patriotic American and I'll be happy to answer your question. The answer is simple really:
Nudity is sinful, whereas a torn off limb is a sign of judgement from an angry God.

Here we go again.. will there be rules for building/creating a harem? Will there be rules for a harem girl/boy position?
That will probably depend on their Dex, Acrobatics, and Escape Artist scores.
Will there be rules for advancement within the harem (kind of a playing favorites?)
Kinda brings new meaning to the phrase 'climbing the slippery pole'.

What if the king (or queen) doesn't want to get married? What if he (or she) wants a harem? Is that considered? :)
I know I'm coming a bit late to this particular discussion, but SirUrza, just for you I've written rules for having a harem using Paizo's kingdom-builder mechanics.
I've posted them over at my blog.
Hope you like them!

Awesome. I am 99% certain these rules will get used by my group, if not in Kingmaker, then somewhere down the line. Way to go there, dude, and to return victorious.

This has to be the most anticipated product ever, in my house at least. Solnes and I have already been discussing what kind of characters we would like to play through it with, and to be honest I suspect it will be an oft re-run campaign for us. (I've run SCAP 4 times, and set 3 other campaigns in that city.)
So when does this 560 page book come out?
BTW good salesmanship in this thread, I am ordering Kingmaker now!

There's two reasons we didn't go into great detail about harems. The second reason is probably why we'll NEVER do a big rules article about harems.
Reason 1: The "Cities and Kings" article is PACKED TIGHT. It's 10 or 12 pages long but there's pretty much no room for everything that'll happen in a kingdom, so we had to pick and choose the most important parts to detail.
Reason 2 (the BIG reason): Sex makes Americans squirm, for whatever reason, these days. It's OK to have horrific violence in our art, apparently; we've printed decapitated heads, bodies with guts hanging out, blood explosions, dismemberment, and all sorts of gore. We've actually had VERY little complaints about the gore. But whenever we do a picture that starts bordering on the sexual, or include elements in an adventure that are sexual (Hook Mountain Massacre's a good example), we get a lot of negative feedback.
Personally... I'm not sure why so many Americans are more disturbed by the process of creating life than they are by the process of creating death. I prefer mature-content entertainment, like you see on HBO or in R-rated movies, and as a result we DO include sex as elements in our products, but when we do, we tend to be a lot more subtle about it and, I guess, more responsible about HOW we handle the topic than we do things like dismemberment and murder. A big article about how to run a harem in a game would actually be pretty interesting, but I worry that it'd get us a lot of angry mail. (Shrug)
You know, there is a very easy solution to that.
You are free to move Paizo to Europe anytime. Come to Germany or any other of the very nice and friendly, open minded countries we have here. I would not recommend UK though, they are getting weird lately, especially on press freedom and stuff.Orthos |
I guess I can be the one to go ahead and say I'm pretty okay with the current arrangement. I like being able to (usually) buy stuff and being fairly certain there won't be anything in it that will make me want to look for a rating sticker.
I consider sexual content overrated (at best) and am glad there's not much of it in the game.
Granted I wouldn't complain about less violence/gore either.
