Alice

Television

Anyone else watch this on Sunday and Monday? I really enjoyed it. Far and away the best mini-series I've seen on Syfy (it still grates typing it that way.) It was an interesting re-imagining of Wonderland. I'd recommend checking it out if/when they rebroadcast it.

I watched it. Found it to be very enjoyable, and well thought out for an adaptation. I would definately recommend it to others.

Ack, missed it. Wanted to see it for the guy from Primeval (grrrrr BBC killing shows I like)

I recorded it on the DVR, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet.

My sweety and I watched the whole thing Monday night, and I echo the others here in saying it was pretty good.

I loved the guy who played the Hatter, and wished Tim Curry was in it longer :)

He did an excellent job. Oh, and don't worry. Primeval isn't dead. LINK

I was so sad when Mel sold the diner in the final episode. The guy who bought it can kiss my grits!

Anyone who gets the reference without clicking the link and feels old because of it, raise your hand. *raises hand* ;)

Does anyone know when Alice will be replayed. The channel didn't cahnge to it, so I ended up taping ESPN on Sunday night.

*raises hand* Stupid mom and her love of re-runs...

The name of the sit-com that video came from was called Alice.

My DVR says sunday on u-verse.

EDIT: Sorry, duplicate post. Is there just 2 hours and 12 minutes to the whole thing or is this just a part, like 2 hr of 4 hr ? (DVR doesn't have this info, it just says Alice).

Thanks, Shadowborn. DVR, set!

It is a two part mini-series and each part is two hours long.

I just checked Syfy's listings also, and yes, parts one and two are listed to air back to back from 5-9pm eastern time on the 13th. And actually, another good mini-series of theirs, Tin Man, is having all three parts aired right before Alice, from 11am-5pm. If you have not seen it, just set your Tivo or DVR for the whole 10 hour block and you won't be disappointed.

So, how about you folks that caught the encore? Thoughts?

I DVR'd it and didn't get the chance to watch until just now. I think it was very well done. For my money, it wasn't quite as good as Tin Man, their other recent "re-imagining," but it was a very close second. It made me want to go back and re-read the original story, which marks it as a success for me.

Do you believe there was some symbolism behind the choice of 60's motif for the casino, or did it just fit in well with the card designs? I'm trying to decide.

Scarab Sages

I liked Tin-Man better. For some reason this particular Alice just felt a little flat to me.

I had TiVo'd the encore with both parts run together and we just watched it over the weekend.

It was enjoyable, but didn't quite live up to it's potential. A few too many underdeveloped characters or plot points that needed a few precious more minutes of explanations or detailing.

To me it was definitely not a retelling, but a further telling in the same universe, which I liked. You got a chance to see what happens after 100 years of development to many characters and how previous events shaped the world.

And now that people have seen this version of Alice in Wonderland, who is looking forward to the new Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie? The new trailer that was released last week makes the movie sound more like a sequel to the original book than a retelling of the original story.
