Male Human Rogue 1

You are right. Thats why I shouldn't post before I have had some coffee. Apparently I had noted that wrong in my profile, and just typed it in without thinking about it.

1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 Damage Roll Redux

Therin Ulric wrote:

1d6+2 Damage Roll Redux

Excellent. I still need that Will save, though.

Male Human Rogue 1

1d20 ⇒ 4 Will Save

Yeah, those aren't my strong suit.

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Hearing the cry from the stables, Rufus jumps up and dashes across the courtyard, drawing his dagger (the only weapon he's been carrying during the dinner and subsequent events), ready for anything.

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Library:
Therin's rapier also strikes sparks from the creature's hide, but manages to drive deep enough to send some strange ichor spraying across the room as well. The thing shows no indication that it has noticed the wound as its talons stretch for Lamsfel's neck.

Claw attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12; damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4. Also, I need a Will save, DC 18, from Lamsfel.

Rufus:
As Rufus runs up to the stables, he sees Martine with her bow pointed directly into the maw of Prettykill, a bite wound bloody on her shoulder. An arrow, seemingly from her bow, lies on the ground in front of Corath, its tip coated in blood. You're part of the "Stables" spoilers now, but I'd like a Sense Motive check before you declare your action.

Stables:
Rufus rushes up to the stables and stares in shock at the bloody tableau.

Initiatives for Round Two:
Rufus/Brune 15
Corath/Prettykill 11
Martine 6

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

"What's going on here!? Rufus yells, confusion painted on his face at the unfolding scene.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Rufus Reeven wrote:

"What's going on here!? Rufus yells, confusion painted on his face at the unfolding scene.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1

Yeah, that doesn't tell you much. Go ahead and declare your action (and don't forget your spoilers!)

28/28 hp

Amongst the books:

Spoiler:
Curiosity is obvious on Lamsfel's face. "What sort of creature are you and why are you attacking me? What is the Mirrored Sanctuary of which you speak?"

I don't know relative positions, but if I can take a 5' step to make it easier for someone to flank the creature, I will do so first.

The lanky elf sidesteps the creature, drawing a short sword with each hand, but holds the left in a defensive position while he attempts to strike with the right. No game effect - just want to have both blades ready for future rounds.

Will Save (I hear you Therin!) 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Library:
The creature does not answer Lamsfel's queries, and though his blade strikes what looks like a vital spot, the sparks fly once more and there is no sign that it took any damage. Your 5 ft step puts you flanking the creature opposite Therin, however.

Behind him, Hilrune begins mocking the creature, and the group feels a stirring of contempt that translates to action as well. Inspire courage is now in effect - don't forget your bonuses people!

Abruptly, another strange buzzing sound fills the air, and a second shadowy portal appears, disgorging a second, seemingly identical creature. It glares ferociously at Hilrune, and snarls in Common, "You shall not claim the Mirrored Sanctuary, Pathfinders! It belongs to my masters!" before charging toward the half-orc.

Half-pint #2's initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 17. It appeared in the same spot as #1 did, for the record.

Initiatives for Round Two:
Therin 20
Ar'dreth 17+
Half-pint #2 17
Half-pint #1 16
Lamsfel 14
Hilrune 11

Therin, you are up.

Library:

Spoiler:
As Ar'dreth's sword returns to his hand, he sees that the strike did little to the ugly creature. He then raises his sword again and speaks words of incantation in draconic. As Ar'dreth completes the spell, a bolt of pure force flies from the sword hitting the creature.

Cast Magic Missile using Arcane Bonded sword. Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Rufus runs up to the woman with the bow, trying to get into a flanking position. Surprised by the attack from Martine, he swings a punch at her, hoping to be able to make heads and tails of the situation later.

Unarmed attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10; Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 nonlethal

Male Human Rogue 1

Library

Spoiler:
Raising a brow at the creature that appears, Therin will give a bit of a grin at the others. "Maybe we underestimated how many of them there were? We'd better drop this one quickly."

He jabs forward with both his shortsword and rapier into the creatures back, taking advantage of both the bardic song and the flanking.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10Rapier Attack
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Damage
1d6 ⇒ 5 Sneak attack if applicable

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16Short Sword Attack
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Damage
1d6 ⇒ 3 Sneak attack if applicable

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Rufus, you forgot the spoiler... :D

Stables:
"Don't kill her, she's being controlled by someone else!"

Corath then charges her, swinging his club with both hands a bit akwardly as he aims to subdue instead of kill.

Club
Charge:1d20 + 4 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 - 4 = 12 -4 is for attempting a non-lethal attack.
Damage:1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

He then tells PrettyKill the command for down, and she moves behind him.5ft step to move away from Martine, possibly behind Corath. If Corath cannot charge, the attack roll is 2 points lower.

Male Half-elf Ranger 1
Corath wrote:

Rufus, you forgot the spoiler... :D

** spoiler omitted **

Sorry, not used to all this secrecy ;)

The Library:
Therin's blades slash at the creature, and though it dodges the first one, the second manages to draw more dark ichor as well as sparks from its flesh.

Ar'dreth, I need a Will save from you as well. (To save time, Hilrune might want to make one also. Inspire courage doesn't help here. Anyone who attacks Half-pint #2 may also make a Will save, even if they have already failed one.)

Stables:
Rufus' punch goes wide, as does Corath's swing, as the two Pathfinders try not to injure the dominated gnome. Sadly, Martine shows little of the same courtesy. Surrounded by Corath and Rufus, she drops her bow and draws a dagger, slashing at Corath. "You shall not claim the Mirrored Sanctuary, Pathfinders! It belongs to my masters!" she shouts as she attacks. Dagger attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3; damage 1d3 ⇒ 2.

Your turns!

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Stables:
"You should know I have no use for mirrors, since they tell me what I already know."

Corath swings again, hoping a tap on the head in just the right spot will end this unwanted fight...

Club Attack:1d20 + 4 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 4 + 2 = 15
Club Damage:[ooc]1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

[ooc]I forgot to mention this earlier, but Corath didn't bother to get his shield out, so he's using the club with both hands.

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Stables:
Rufus takes another swing, hoping to hit this time.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Non-lethal damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Non-lethal damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Will Save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Stables:
Corath: I don't know if you were just talking smack or not, but in case you have actually forgotten, the Mirrored Sanctuary is the place that you are theoretically heading off to explore when you leave the Abbey.

Since Rufus doesn't have Improved Unarmed Strike and Martine's dagger means she's actually threatening now, that attack provokes an AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4; damage 1d3 ⇒ 3. However...

Under the combined weight of Corath's and Rufus' hammerblows, Martine crumples, blood flowing from a broken nose and an impressive but ultimately mostly harmless scalp wound.

200 XP for each of you. Plans?

Library:
Ar'dreth's spell sears the creature's skin, and it staggers, clearly weakening, but it nevertheless maintains its lethal focus on Lamsfel. Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10, damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2; claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10, damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5; bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21, damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5. The thing's teeth dig in to Lamsfel's shoulder, drawing blood.

At the same time, the newest arrival rushes toward Hilrune with the same tunnel-visioned desire to kill. Claw attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15, damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3. (Note: because Hilrune is further off to the side, this movement doesn't provoke an AoO from Therin.)

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Stables:
It was smack talk.
"Well, that was unexpected. Rufus, do have any rope we can use to tie her up? I'd rather make sure she isn't a threat when she wakes up. Are you hurt?"

Taking out the goblin wand, he begins to heal PrettyKill and himself.

PrettyKill's Cure:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Corath's Cure:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

28/28 hp

Library:

Spoiler:
Lamsfel decides that now is not the time to discuss intentions and attacks the creature with both blades.

Primary attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Including flank and inspire bonuses
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Includes inspire bonus
Secondary attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Stables:
"No, I'm fine, but thanks. I have some rope in my kit," says Rufus, but we may be able to find some here in the stables." Rufus looks around for some rope. If he doesn't find any, he'll head towards his room, alert for the possibility that others may attack him.

Plans? Yeah, level to 20th ;)

Stables:
Rope is readily available in the stables, and the unconscious gnome is rapidly restrained. Prettykill growls and blows through her nostrils as she looks down at Martine, but calms down somewhat as her wounds are soothed under the touch of the wand.

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Stables:
"We'd better check if the others are ok!" says Rufus before heading towards the library. As he leaves the stable, he grabs a pitchfork, just to be on the safe side.

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Stables:
Corath nods his agreement as he puts martine in an empty stall and locks. He sets off at a run to catch up with Rufus, PrettyKill not far behind. As he runs, he straps his shield onto his arm and readies himself for spell casting, should the need arise.

Male Half Orc Bard 1

Librarians

Spoiler:

"Sainted Shelyn , their mother had twins . Let's just hope she did not spawn a litter ! "
With this quip , Hilrune draws his longsword and strikes
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Shisumo , can you recheck Hilrune , he is finally finished !(you can kill him now :)

Library:
Despite his wounds, Lamsfel's blades strike true: a slice to the throat and a thrust to the heart sends the thing staggering backwards, where it suddenly disappears in a writhing swirl of thick black smoke.

Gonna go ahead and roll Hilrune's Will save for him. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22.

Hilrune's own swing is not so effective, he comes perilously close to slaying a nearby bookshelf, but his small foe is entirely unscathed.

Fortunately, however, there is no sign of a litter - a third one fails to appear.

Therin is up; he will need to move about 10 feet if he wishes a flank, but it can be done without provoking an AoO.

Hilrune:
You have too many languages. You should have a total of 5: Common and Orc for free, two more for your Int modifier, and one for your 1 rank in Linguistics. Otherwise, the stats look good. You should check over your equipment list again, though, since you're looking at a Str 12 instead of Str 16. Out of curiosity, why
did you switch from the falchion?

As Hilrune stares into the maw of the thing attacking him, he notices the creature's form waver - it is translucent at the edges, not really real, though there seems to be a core of shadowy darkness that has more substance. Hilrune only took 1 hp of damage from the creature's claws, not 3, as their lack of reality means they fail to fully affect him. He realizes with a shock that these things are not truly here at all, but are merely some kind of strange illusion.

Stables:
It's going to take a couple rounds for you guys to get back to the library; I suspect by then events there will have taken their course. Sit tight for a second.

Male Human Rogue 1

Library

Spoiler:

Therin will flash a grin towards Hilrune, liking the man already. He moves to trap the remaining one between himself and the bard. "A fearsome creature she must have been to be willing to breed with something that looks like our friend here. I wouldn't wish to encounter her face to face."

As he approaches, he thrusts out his rapier into the back of the creature, trying to bring it down quickly.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17Attack roll(I believe inspire is still in effect)
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Damage
1d6 ⇒ 5 Sneak attack

Male Half Orc Bard 1

Shisumo

Spoiler:
I took skill focus linguistics to have three more languages
I changed from falchion because of the 60 gp difference :)
And FO 16 is a leftover from the character I copied . I'll change it

Librarians

Spoiler:
All is made clear . such creatures don't in nature exist ! they are but illusions of a warped mind !

Library:
Therin, I need another Will save, but this time you get a +4 bonus, thanks to Hilrune's little revelation.

Male Human Rogue 1

Library

Spoiler:

Woohoo, that +4 puts me at +4!

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Therin blinks his eyes a bit as he looks to the creature, tilting his head. "Illusions then? What non-sense is this? A trick or a trap, either way it is quite poor taste."

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Library:
Therin's rapier pierces the creature's back, and the thing's strange, shadowy blood coats the blade's tip as he pulls it free once more. Although it staggers beneath the assault, it maintains its attention on Hilrune.

Therin: although you can tell it is illusory, there is a "core" of substance within, because your blade certainly hit something.

Ar'deth is next.

Ar'dreth sees the injured creature disappear and changes focus to the other, sending an acid globe flying toward it. "What are these foul creatures, an illusion of some sort?"

Move to within 30ft, Acid Splash 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Damage 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Will Save if needed 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

28/28 hp

Library:

Spoiler:
On his turn, Lamsfel moves to engage the second creature. If there is no flanking opportunity available as I believe is the case, he will move to be alongside Hilrune if possible.

If he can complete the move and still get in an attack:

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Includes +1 inspire bonus
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Includes +1 inspire bonus

Will Save if necessary 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 (+4 bonus from Hilrune's comment not included)

EDIT: Crit confirm, if necessary

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Includes +1 inspire bonus
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Includes +1 inspire bonus

Crap, sorry forgot the spoiler

Library:
Ar'dreth and Lamsfel too can now see that the creature's form is an unsteady, wavering flicker surrounding a dark, shadowy core of uncertain substance. Nevertheless, though Ar'dreth's acid attack is seemingly absorbed by some innate protection of the creature, Lamsfel's blade finds some purchase in the shadowy form, and the ichor flows once more. It does not do so, however, before the creature itself makes another series of attacks against Hilrune, biting and clawing for all it is worth.

Bite attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5, damage 1; claw attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7, damage 1; claw attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, damage 1.

Hilrune gets his action now...

Male Half Orc Bard 1

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Library:
Hilrune's blade also finds a weakness in the creature's tough, scaly skin, and more ichor flows.

Suddenly, a frantic-looking Rufus and Corath burst into the room, the former holding a pitchfork as though he intends to start tossing more than hay with it, trailed by Brune and Prettykill. They see the tableau - Therin, Lamsfel and Hilrune with weapons drawn, Ar'dreth beginning another incantation - and the small, orc-like figure still trying to reach Hilrune's throat with its claws, and ready themselves for battle as well.

The newcomers can roll initiative, though I suspect the fight's going to be over fairly quickly. Therin and Ar'dreth can go ahead and post their actions.

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Initiative:1d20 ⇒ 10

Male Human Rogue 1

Therin will call out to the others as they burst within. "The creature is fake, but there is something solid within. Try and look past its shell and strike at the heart!"

Therin will five foot step to try and flank the creature with one of the others if necessary, jabbing out with both his rapier and his shortsword.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Rapier, includes flank and inspire(not sure about that)
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Rapier damage
1d6 ⇒ 6 Sneak attack

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Short-Sword(same bonus as above)
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Short-Sword damage
1d6 ⇒ 1 Sneak attack

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

So, an illusion?

Corath's Will Save:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Ar'dreth pulls a pinch of wool from his component pouch and speaks the incantation "Eka Pesona", attempting to daze the creature.

Daze (DC 14)

Male Half-Orc Spell Specialist Arcanist 1

Corath, not really seeing what Therin means, raises his hand and says something that reminds everyone of heat lightning. A burst of light appears before the creature, just bright enough to possibly distract it.

Corath casts flare. Dc:12 Will save.

Therin's first strike sinks deep into the creature's flesh, but his second is deflected into another shower of sparks. Ar'dreth follows up with a distracting enchantment, but the spell feels... wrong... as he casts it, and it has no effect. Whatever it is, it isn't a humanoid.

Another flurry of claws and teeth - still with some danger, however unreal they might be - threatens Hilrune. Bite attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11, damage 1; claw attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10, damage 1; claw attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, damage 1.

Corath's spell goes off in the creature's face, and it flinches back. Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18. After a single blink, though, its expression returns to its previous bloodthirsty focus on Hilrune.

Lamsfel, Rufus, and Hilrune can go, in whatever order seems easiest.

Male Half-elf Ranger 1

Rufus tries to look "past" the creature, as directed by Therin, before striking at it.

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage (assuming it has stats equivalent to a spear): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
