A dar of crackling energy fires from Lacore's fingertips, almost instantly slamming into the hobgoblin's chest. Deelin's arrow finds it's target, lodging itself in between the opponent's right shoulder and chest muscles, underneath the collar bone. Meanwhile, Torillan hurries to confront the attacker face-to-face, but the large crows immediately surround him in response and assault the fighter, raking with their claws (1 hit for 2 damage).

The small fox's wounds close up under the power of her spell, while Binjion calls on divine interventio to fill his allies with courage.

The hobgoblin turns around and clumsily jumps out of the tree, almost falling over as he hits the ground, but landing mostly on his feet nonetheless. He then takes off in the direction away from the adventurers.

The hobgoblin is 30' away of from the tree he was in. All PCs are under effect of the Bless spell.

Seeing the Hobgoblin descend from his post in the tree and try to escape, Dorsera will move north and fire a bolt at him.

Crossbow Attack (1d20=8, 1d8=5)

Deelin too pursues for 30' before launching another arrow at his retreating back.

Longbow attack (1d20+6=13, 1d8=8)

Forgot the Bless. Though I believe it doesn't matter.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Dirk sees the Hobgoblin jump from the tree and and keeps sneering at the Hobgoblin, axe raised and running at the hobgoblin.

according to the battle map, the hobgoblin was 50 ft away to start with, so that makes him about 80 ft away, i move 20 ft a round, so i think he should out run me, but it is up to you, DM

The hobgoblin [flees 30'] away from the group.

Instead of pursuit of the hobgoblin, Daegan rationalizes the threat on Torillan as being a threat to his own survival in the wilderness away from his known home, and options to aid the armor-clad warrior.

From an opening in his cover, Daegan's eyes steady on the vitals of one of the birds, and he flings his dagger as hard as he can; once loose, he draws his rapier and prepares to melee.

Actions and Rolls:
Free/Swift Action - 5' step to close the distance to 10' (no range penalty)
Standard Action - Attacking the closest Bird (attack assumes target is unaware of Daegan, aka Flat-Footed)
Ranged Attack + Bless (1) = 15
Damage Roll (Dagger + Sneak Attack)
1d4+2+1d6+1=7
-- ignore Sneak Attack Damage if the Bird was aware of Daegan
-- ignore All Damage if the Bird's AC > 15 (pending situational modifiers)

Move Action- draw his rapier

Binjion seeing the crows about to cause dire trouble for his compannions, carefully draws his crossbow. Pulling on the arming lever the holy man pulls a bolt back into the mechanism.

"That's right, shameless son of a goblin, show your face in the hollow again and we'll give you worse!" he shouts in goblinoid.

Lacore moves in closer to Torillan and the birds, but not so close that he can reach out and touch one of them. Deelin's arrow sails over his fleeing target while Dirk tries to catch up to the hobgoblin. Torillan swings wildly at the angry flock, but fails to hit anything; Daegan's dagger also misses it's mark. The large crows continue their assault on the warrior, and he feels each and every talon dig into this head and neck, nearly tearing his throat out (7 dmg total). Dorsera misses on her attack and Binjion prepares for his.

FYI, you can run up to 80 ft as full round action. This would leave you at melee range, but you wouldn't be able to attack that round. However the hobgoblin moves out of your threatened area, provoking an attack of opportunity, this round. Let me know if this is what you wanna do.

Come on, guys.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Sorry about the lack of posting on my part, I was organising and running my daughters baptism. Now for the hobgoblin, yes I want to take full advantage of the full action movement and AoO. Also, Invis Castle is down again.

Dirk charges at the hobgoblin, yelling curses and insults in dwarven, almost at a sprint, Dirk manages to catch up to the vile hobgoblin and swings his axe at the creature.

to hit1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
damage1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Dirk succeeds in catchin up to hobgoblin before he can speed away and clips the fleeing attacker on the shoulder with his axe. The hobgoblin gurgles out a scream, accelerating to a full run, and distancing himself from the dwarf.

The attack was an attack of opportunity, so you can still act this round.

Dirk is 30' north of the tree the hobgoblin was perched in, and the hobgoblin is now 120' north of Dirk.

Round 3

[Sorry; You've been combining the actions of both sets of monsters into one post (hobgoblin, then birds). I'm a little lost, and not everyone has been posting. Daegan operates on strategy, not on brute force ;)

Daegan slides up behind the bird he can flank with Torillan and takes advantage of attacking the creature while it can't defend itself effectively from his attacks.

Actions and Rolls:
Move Action - Movement (assuming 30' or less) closing in behind [ohh... lets call it Bird A];
Positionally: Flanking with Torillan
Standard Action - Attacking Bird A (flanking)
[InvisibleCastle Down = Grrrrrrrr]
Attack: 1d20 + 4 DexMod (finesse) + 2 Flanking VS Bird AC
Hit: 2d6+3 (1d6+ 2 Weapon and StrMod, 1d6+1 Sneak Attack and Trait Bonus);
Crit: 18-20, x2 (weapon and StrMod only)

Location reserved for Editting Rolls once IC is back up... otherwise, GM is welcome to roll dice for me with the above mods.

Binjion closes one eye as he shakily aims his crossbow and lets the bolt fly at the closest razor crow. 1d20 ⇒ 1

"Pharasma would have judged your fate differently had you not become the pet of such a brutal master, I forgive you," he laments. "Luck be damned!" he curses as the bolt flies high off into the distance and determinedly loads another bolt into the firing position.

Seeing Torillan getting attacked by the birds, Dorsera grabs her holy symbol and focuses her positive energy into a burst to try and counter the wounds.

Channel Energy 1d6 ⇒ 6

I don't believe any are injured, but if the birds are then I will selective channel out those ones. Also, Invisible Castle is down.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Dirk, seeing that he only clipped the hobgoblin's shoulder, runs at full speed at the hobgoblin, trying to catch up to the vile creature.

Dirk moves at 30 ft a round, so running is 120 ft of distance, this is, I think, a full round action too, so that is all I do this round.

Dirk, you can't use your Fast Movement ability since you're wearing heavy armor, so your run speed is stuck at 80'. Let me know what else you'd rather do for round 3, as soon as you can.

Torillan attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14, 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25, 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Daegan attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12, 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Lacore damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Deelin attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Birds: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Round 3

Daegan skewers one of large crows through its breast, then shakes it off his rapier. Deelin also is able to help defend the Torillan, cleaving through a bird, causing an explosion of black feathers in front of him. The fighter continues to swat at the remaining birds, but still can't hit anything. However, he's able to avoid more damage.

Binjion's projectile sails practically in another direction, but Dorsera is able to aid the fighter - most of Torillan's neck wounds close up (6 dmg healed).

Round 4

The poacher continues to run out of sight.

Round 4

Deelin, realising that the hobgoblin is fleeing takes a step to his left and brings one of the carniverous crows into his sights.

deelin takes a 5 foot step to his left backward diagonal and shoots the nearest crow, +1 for bless and point blank shot 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 261d8 ⇒ 2

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Oops forgot to factor in the heavy armour, sorry. The way Dirk's personality is, he probably wont let him go until after a few rounds of running, and losing the race by 90 ft or so. Moving 4 times my move speed (80 ft) is a full round action, so that is all I am doing that round. If I ever catch up to the hobgoblin I will be raging as a free action and then attacking

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric / 1

Assuming that he couldn't possibly miss by that much two tries in a row, Binjion takes aim upon the crow to Torillian's right and looses his bolt.

Light Crossbow Attack (includes Bless): 1d20 ⇒ 12 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Eying the escaping hobgoblin, "I fear we have not seen the last of that scoundrel. I say we stay wary when camping this eve," he mutters while loading another bolt into his crossbow.

Dorsera looses a bolt toward one of the large crows, praying to strike true.

Crossbow attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 4
Crit Confirm 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 Extra Damage 1d8 ⇒ 1 Includes Bless

Furious, and dripping blood from multiple wounds, Torillan makes a viscious downswing with his sword at the raven to his left.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Male Half-Elf Rogue 1

Satisfied with his kill, Daegan attempts to navigate around either remaining attacking bird, placing himself as safely as possible across from Torillan.

Actions and Rolls:
Move Action - [suitable movement to prevent Attacks of Opp, intentionally positioned for Flanking]
Standard Action Attacking [Bird C] [Flanking]
Rapier: 1d20+7 (BAB +0, DexMod +4, Flanking +2, Bless +1)
Hit: 2d6+4 (Weapon 1d6, Sneak Attack 1d6, Strength +2, Trait(flanking) +1, Bless +1)
-- if positioning is unsuitable for Flanking, ignore Sneak Attack and Trait adds.
IC still down this morning. /fume

Daegan: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11, 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Bird: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17, 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

Round 4

Lacore backs away from the fray, but nonetheless draws his weapon. Daegan slices open one of the remaining birds, and it flutters to the ground, dead. Torillan misses again, but Deelin is able to hit the last avian, nearing tearing off one of its wings. In a final struggle, the bird open another gash underneath Torillan's chin (3 dmg). Binjion still can't hit anything, but Dorsera's bolt flies so true and fierce that it goes into one side the bird and continues flying out the other side; its innards spew as it drops.

That's the last of the crows. Dirk, if you run after the hobgoblin this round, you'll be 80 ft behind him at the end of the round.

Round 5

The hobgoblin archer makes lead over the dwarven barbarian even greater.

If the hobgobins still in sight Deelin quickly sprints after it knocking another arrow as he moves otherwise he gathers and cleans his arrows while trying to work out why the birds attacked against their nature.

ie were they trained etc

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Seeing that he is losing his chase, Dirk resigns to stop chasing him and to head back the the party.

"G~+%%$ hobgoblin, I'll get yer eventually, yer stinkin' son of a Goblin."

Dirk shakes his fist in the direction of the fleeing hobgoblin.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric / 1

Blushing, Binjion removes the bolt from his crossbow and puts both away. "It seems it has been longer than I thought since I had last practiced my archery. All apologies, my friends."

After seeing the last crow drop, Dorsera makes her way over to Torillan's side. "How badly are you injured my friend?" She asks.

How many hit points are you down after my 6 point channel Torillan?

Dorsera wrote:

Torillan drops to his knees, breathing heavily. "I'm alright...thank you...Dorsera", he says between breaths. "Not...so smart of me...huh?...", he says, smiling weakly. "Just... give me a minute...". He closes his eyes and steadies his breathing.

If I totalled correctly, he took 9 hp damage (Yikes!) out of 12, so he's only down 3 at this point. Again, provided I didn't miss anything.

"Catch your breath, we should keep moving as soon as possible." Dorsera says as she pats Torillan on the shoulder.

What time of day is it Darkmoon Valer?

Torillan is a down 6 HP.

It would now be six or seven hours after noon. However, you've already spent eight hours travelling today, and any more travel before a full rest would require a forced march.

FYI, judging by distances on the woodsman map, it would take another twelve hours worth of travel to reach the westernmost landmark.

This doesn't look like to bad a place to make camp and these birds will make decent eating once we cook them up says Deelin, far more confident and sure of himself in these woods than he was back in town.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

Dirk eventually returns to the party, gruff and upset that he didn't even get to hit the hobgoblin once.

"Hmm, I donnae like this, enemies gettin' away before we can kill 'em. Time to find some meat."

Dirk then realises that he forgot to buy any ale before he left for adventure.

"Dammit all ter hell! If it's not one thing, its another...we forgot the bloody ale!"

Dirk, angry and upset, sets off to find something to eat other than leaves and twigs.

Survival check:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Deelin:
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

On closer examination, the oily-black birds have distinctive, jagged beaks and unkempt feathers. You can't tell anything about the training or upbringing of these birds in particular, but you know that these oversized cousins to rooks are called 'razorcraws' and are native to Darkmoon Woods. Their combat abilities are very similar to eagles or hawks.

The birds are certainly edible.

i'll get a fire going and have these razorcrows ready to eat in no time. What with this food Dirk has found our bellies will be full, Deelin says as he gets to work.

Don't worry Dirk I'm sure we scared that Hobgoblin off, he won't be back i'd wager, he says between mouthfulls during their meal.

After the meal Deelin addresses the group, Shall we camp here for the night?

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric / 1

"I'll lend a hand gathering wood for the fire, lad," Binjion says to Deelin, "But I'll not be having you talk me into a dinner of crow. The vileness of such a thing. You do know what crows eat, don't you?"

"This is as good place as any to rest Deelin. Let us make camp and eat."

I will use channel energy to heal Torillan. Channel Energy (1d6=3), Channel Energy (1d6=6)

"That's better. Thank you." he says, smiling at Dorsera.

He proceeds to listen to the bickering over the menu for the evening as he cleans and sharpens his sword.

There's enough bird for everyone to receive adequate sustenaince.

Foraging for food is a day long process that takes place during travel and requires a reduction of movement by half.

I need a turn order for keeping watch tonight.

Once cooked, Deelin digs in ravenously to the meal after offering everyone a fair share. With dinner finished he sets up his bedroll and such and sits by the fire. As the conversation slips around to it he says I'll happily take first watch, it'll give me time to set some snares for rabbits

Torillan will take the 2nd watch.

"I will take first watch if you will take second Binjion."

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2

"Hmm...looks like im stuck with last watch, better that then sittin here bored!"
