Last call for any pre-battle prep: we'll run Round Three tomorrow.
If they are something sinister or battle seems unavoidable, she will cast entangle DC16 during the first round to get as many of the wolves as possible.
If we were gathered around a gaming table, Mikka, I would be raising an eyebrow. How do you imagine entangle would work in a desert terrain?

Alia Wolfsdottir |

Last call for any pre-battle prep: we'll run Round Three tomorrow.
Alia's horse will be right behind her in J-K 41-42.
Swiftpaws moves to Alia side J40.One more thing, as long as we are in the desolation, Alia's and Swiftpaw's initiative is 2 points higher (favored terrain). It does not change anything for Alia as she has -3 dex right now.

GM Chris Mortika |

Durnast, on Round 1, you cast fly and rise up to 30' above the ground. And yes, you see them.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
At this distance, you can tell that there's (1, 2, 3, ...) ten of them. The two on the ends, left and right, are much larger than the others, as tall as the tallest horse you've seen, and built like a cross between a wolf and a bull. Between them are eight smaller creatures, about the right size and shape for wolves. They are coming towards the ridge in a V-shape, so the center wolves will crest first, followed by those nest to them, and so on, with the greater monsters showing up last.
The creatures on the ends are large enough for you to get a better look at, given the distance. In facial feautres, they resemble wolves with matted dark fur torn away in places. Their flesh is sickly gray where their fur is torn away. Their eyes are stark white, virtually the same color as the clouds of pulverized-bone dust that billow out behind their hooves.

Durnast Kal |

"They look like wolves, spread out in a V with the point towards us. The two on the outside look as big as a bear...
And all of them... look strange... they could be undead or like that beast in town..."
Round 2: Casting Sleet Storm 80' diameter, DC10 Acrobatics to walk (not Run) @1/2 Speed, Fail = no move, Fail by 5+ = Prone, catching all of them (?) or as many as possible (at least one biggie).
Round 3 (before the wolves act): Casting Stinking Cloud 40' diameter, catching as many as possible escaping the Sleet Storm, overlapping Sleet Storm area if possible (and again, trying to get at least one 'biggie'). Fort DC18 each Round in Cloud or Nauseated 1d4+1 rounds.
Durnast probably moves another 20' or so higher in the air while doing this.
Past this, Durnast has Fireball, Color Spray, Grease available as Prepared Slots (+Pearl of Power 3, which can also resurrect a Scorching Ray if that is called for), as well as other spells/scrolls that could help someone else if they get into trouble.
I'm probably not going to check in for 2 days or so (hotsprings trip), so past Round 2, please feel free to improvise with Durnast, Chris

Have a fantastic time at Hot Springs, Quandary. If you do check in again, I have a question before you go.

Mikka |

Round 2 Mikka casts Shillelagh, and drinks a potion of barkskin. Windrazor dives to within striking distance.
Mikka utters the rhythmic syllables of her spell, her staff thickening visible and filling the air with the scent of oak. She gabs a potion from her belt and quickly swallows it, her pale blue sking taking on a toughenes textured look.

Nadeq Shuzar Qedan |

As Durnast inform them of their numbers Nadeq pull out two wands and use them on himself, and then readies to throw his web spell, holding it so he catch as many of the lesser wolves in the web.
Cast shield and expeditious retreat from wands, round 1 and 2
Web round 3
ac is 25 and speed is 50 for 10 rounds. Web dc is 14

Montague |

Montague readies himself for combat, stretching and popping his muscles and ligaments. He then begins to repeat his concentration mantra, and imagines the flame in the darkness. He then grabs his crossbow, and prepares to shoot as soon as one of the beast is within range.

Rasina Songhair |

Rasina realizes she will probably only get one shot before they are on her and Alia. She vows to make it count.
Ready action to fire at one of the wolves, when it is within 30', and also subject to sneak attack. She will delay until the end of the round if necessary. If that does not happen she will fire at any wounded one to finish it off. Once they enter melee range (I'm guessing likely this round) then drop it and draw weapons
Attack crossbow 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26, Damage 1d8 ⇒ 2
Sneak attack 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) = 8

Mikka |

In round 3 Mikka will hold just short of the grease zone and strike at the first wolf to make it through, taking an AoO first inf appropriate then striking twice with TWF. Windrazor will strike the same wolf
AoO1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
ATTACKS
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
WINDRAZOR CLAWS FLYBY
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Artimus Bourne -- readies sword and shield
Durnast Kal -- casts sleet storm centered at G4, catching 8 of them.
Chamomile -- remains with Durnast.
Mikka -- runs forward to J13, drawing her weapons. (The sleet storm effect hides G10, H10, I10 and J11. If any wolf comes out of the sleet storm near you, you'll be able to step forward 5' and attack with a full-round action.
Montegue -- loads and double-checks his crossbow.
Nadeq Shuzar Qedan -- dismounts and casts expeditious retreat.
Rasina Songhair -- loads crossbow
Richard Trannyth -- casts shield of faith, moves back to M27.
Durnast's sleet storm blocks all sight into the area, from A8 to G11 to N5.
Round 3, In Combat
24- Durnast -- casts stinking cloud centered at Q15, completely obscuring the ridge, and rises another 20'.
21- Mikka -- holds her action until a foe appears.
21- Swiftpaws -- hears shouting up ahead, in a langue he can understand.
A deep voice, profound and wise, commands: "Hobble them. Kill their mounts, then flee. We will engage them when they are exhausted."
21- The Wolves -- Two wolves appear out of the stinking cloud, their eyes white and rheumy, their black fur matted in some areas, missing entirely in others, revealing a brittle skin stretched taunt underneath. They are now at O11 and Q9.
Mikka, they are too far away to reach with a single move action. Did you want to charge, or hold your position, waiting for something to come out of the blizzard ahead of you?
19- Alia, these are ghoul wolves, undead animals with extremely keen sense of smell. Odds are good they were attracted to the bodies with fresh blood you've just left behind.
The one in the lead is 155' away from you. Do you want to fire now, or wait till they get closer?
19- Windrazor -- Does windrazor move off to engage the wolves on his own, or wait for Mikka to move with him, or hold position?
18- Montegue -- shoots. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 and hits the wolf in the forefront for 1d8 ⇒ 7 points of damage. The wolf takes the shot straight into its skull, in front of its right ear, but isn't fazed at all.
17- Rasina -- holding till the wolves close.
17- Chamomile -- sticks with Durnast.
15- Nadeq -- casts web, centered on the front wolf in O11.
Their saves: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 (ensnared), 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 (free to move). Both wolves now have total cover.
7- Artimus -- holds until the larger wolves appear.
5- The Big Wolves -- A wolf the size of an ox, as disheaveled as its smaller cousins, saunters out of the billowing nauseating gasses and stops at U8. He takes a moment to survey the party.
held - Artimus casts a spell and sinks to one knee in shock. "It's undead," he chokes. It's all undead."
1- Richard --

GM Chris Mortika |

When the wolves come in range, channel energy to turn undead.
First of all, TDLoCC, I'd like to compliment you in providing Pathfinder game stats for your actions. It reassures me that you know how your actions will play out in the new game system.
You asked that Richard be moved back to the center of his allies in case they needed to be healed, so I placed him in M27, within a 5'-step of Artimus or Nadeq, and right next to the spot at which Durnast would fall, were he to be knocked unconscious. The normal-sized undead wolves are struggling with a web in O18 and Q16, 85 and 100 feet away from you right now. The giant wolf occupies U8, V8, U7, and V7; 120 feet away. Other creatures are hidden by the sleet or the noxious fog. So, it'll take them a while to get close enough for your Turning to work.

Alia Wolfsdottir |

"Ghoul wolves" says Alia between clenched teeth, "they will not stop until we are dead"
Alia concentrate on the lead wolves, and four arrows arch toward her targets, first on the one in O18 and next one the one in Q16 if the first one fells.
1st Attack with deadly aim, manyshot and rapid shot
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16 + damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
2nd Attack with deadly aim and rapid shot 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
3rd Attack with deadly aim, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Attack takes into account -2 pen to dex and -2 pen for range

Alia Wolfsdottir |

Mikka and Windrazor charge towards the wolves striking at the nearest of the undead beasts.
charge using first attack roll with +2 for the charge I
I don't see a map anywhere
As Alia arrows take flight, she catches the movement of Mikka running towards the wolves.
"Mikka, come back! Do not tackle them on you own, they will trip you and try to kill you on the ground"

Rasina Songhair |

As Alia arrows take flight, she catches the movement of Mikka running towards the wolves.
"Mikka, come back! Do not tackle them on you own, they will trip you and try to kill you on the ground"
Rasina turns to Alia, with a wan grin, and replies "Good luck trying to get her to listen to you, she never listened to me before."

Well, thank you very much :)
Could someone point me to the map ... ?
Meaning I can get another spell off first ?
If so, I cast a Consecration in our center.
A 20ft radius blessing of Thyr.
Consecrate:
The DC to resist positive channeled energy within this area gains a +3 sacred bonus. Every undead creature entering a consecrated area suffers minor disruption, suffering a –1 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves.

GM Chris Mortika |

Round 3, In Combat
24- Durnast -- casts stinking cloud centered at Q15, completely obscuring the ridge, and rises another 20'.
21- Swiftpaws -- hears shouting up ahead, in a langue he can understand, and moves forward, to defend the horses.
21- The Wolves -- Two undead wolves appear out of the stinking[cloud. They are now at O11 and Q9.
21- Mikka -- charges, arriving in N11. She attacks, and misses. The wolf looks up at her and grins with razor-sharp teeth in anticipation.
19- Alia -- raises her bow and fires two shafts high, seemingly aiming at the sky above the billowing cloud of nauseating gasses. But the arrows come down, striking the wolf right in front of Mikka, killing it.
Two more arrows rise and fall, damaging the wolf in Q9.
19- Windrazor -- flies by the ghoul wolf in Q9, missing it on both strikes.
18- Montegue -- shoots the wolf in Q9 for 7 points of damage, killing it.
17- Rasina -- holding till the wolves close.
17- Chamomile -- sticks with Durnast.
15- Nadeq -- holds for an active foe to appear.
5- The Big Wolves -- A wolf the size of an ox, as disheaveled as its smaller cousins, saunters out of the billowing nauseating gasses and stops at U8. He takes a moment to survey the party.
5- Nadeq -- resolves his held action, and casts web, focused on the enormous wolf and taking care not to catch Mikka.
It attempts to avoid the web but (save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11) fails. It's entangled and has total cover.
4- Artimus casts a spell and sinks to one knee in shock. "It's undead," he chokes. It's all undead."
1- Richard -- casts consecration, and the sands beneath him shift a few inches.
Round 4
24- Durnast high above the fray in K28 -- holds his action, waiting for a target to present itself.
21- Swiftpaws, now in J30-- stands guard over the horses, alert for danger from all sides.
21- The Wolves -- three more of the wolves come into view, two from the sleet storm and one from the rolling pea-green fog. They take up positions at K11, M8, and Q10, ready to circle around Mikka.
21- Durnast drops his held action, calling out to Mikka: "Can you take a fireball?" Depending on her answer, he'll either try to take out all three wolves with a spell that will also damage Mikka, or else try to hit one with scorching ray.
21- Mikka, out in front by herself in N11 --
19- Alia, well in the rear at J40 --
19- Windrazor beginning its turn in flight above S11--
18- Montegue, still in L31, in the middle of the PCs --
17- Rasina, back with Alia in L40 --
17- Chamomile, with Durnast --
5- The Big Wolves, somewhere off your left flank and entangled in U8 --
5- Nadeq, in Q28 --
4- Artimus, in L24 -- will probably mount up and charge forward, if the druid remains all on her own out there.
1- Richard, in the center of the PC cluster at M27--

Alia Wolfsdottir |

If Mikka moves back to the other ones and Durnast fireball takes the wolves, Alia fires at the remaining ones, taking a step forward to K39.
1st Attack with deadly aim, manyshot and rapid shot
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 + damage 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
2nd Attack with deadly aim and rapid shot 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
3rd Attack with deadly aim, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18, damage 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Otherwise, she curses loudly and runs forward to K18.

Nadeq Shuzar Qedan |

5- Nadeq -- resolves his held action, and casts web, focused on the enormous wolf and taking care not to catch Mikka.
I aimed to catch as many of the lesser wolves as i could. I think the big ones will have an easier time forcing the web than the small ones.
Round 4 actions:
Nadeq moves over to Rasina and touches her with his wand of shield
"I think we both could benefit from a little extra protection" he says with a smile.

Alia Wolfsdottir |

If Mikka moves back to the other ones and Durnast fireball takes the wolves, Alia fires at the remaining ones, taking a step forward to K39.
1st Attack with deadly aim, manyshot and rapid shot
1d20 + 9 , damage 1d8 + 12 + damage 1d8 + 9
2nd Attack with deadly aim and rapid shot 1d20 + 9 , damage 1d8 + 12
3rd Attack with deadly aim, 1d20 + 4 , damage 1d8 + 12Otherwise, she curses loudly and runs forward to K18.
Obviously, I had not anticipated the fire elemental thing...So Alia will stick to her second action as Mikka is still in danger and move to K18.

GM Chris Mortika |

21- Durnast calls out to Mikka: "Can you take a fireball?"
21- Mikka, out in front by herself in N11 -- laughs and assumes the form of a fire elemental.
And Durnast uses his pearl of power to recast fireball. Mikka and the wolves are subject to (7d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 6, 2, 3, 4) = 22) points of fire damage. The wolves ( 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10) all take the full brunt of the blast, and all look very ragged. Mikka, please make a Reflex saving throw (DC 17) to avoid 2 points of fire damage.
19- Alia, well in the rear at J40 -- fires four arrows in three lazy arcs. Hearing the incoming shafts, the wolves look up, and all three fall dead on the ashen sands.
The only remaining foe that you can see is the large ghoul wolf trapped at U8-V9, and currently under total cover. But Durnast saw a total of seven regular wolves, plus two giant ones.
19- Windrazor beginning its turn in flight above S11--
18- Montegue, still in L31, in the middle of the PCs --
17- Rasina, back with Alia in L40 --
17- Chamomile, with Durnast --
5- The Big Wolves, somewhere off your left flank and entangled in U8 --
5- Nadeq, in Q28 -- starts to moves back to Rasina. It'll take more than a double-move.
4- Artimus, in L24 --
1- Richard, in the center of the PC cluster at M27 -- ready to Turn Undead if any get within range.

GM Chris Mortika |

Alia, sorry to miss your "fire elemental" instruction. Is it all right that I just followed your first directives and let you kill them all?
--+--+--
Ok, just finished a map. Didn't realize we were so far apart. I will move over and offer it to Montegue instead
All right. Let's put you in M30.
--+--+--
Windrazor flaps hard and rises on the thermal updrafts common in a desert. He
A half mile to the north, there's another ridge, higher and steeper than the one directly in front of the party. Past that, maybe three miles away to the north-east, is a lonely hillock, on top of which squats a gray structure. It's far enough away from the road that land-based travellers would miss it.

GM Chris Mortika |

Round 4
24- Durnast -- holds his action.
21- Swiftpaws -- stands guard over the horses.
21- The Wolves -- three more of the wolves come into view, two from the sleet storm and one from the rolling pea-green fog. They take up positions around Mikka.
21- Durnast calls out to Mikka: "Can you take a fireball?"
21- Mikka -- laughs and assumes the form of a fire elemental.
And Durnast uses his pearl of power to recast* fireball. Mikka and the wolves are subject to 22 points of fire damage. The wolves all take the full brunt of the blast. The fireball is at a temperature incompatable with Mikka's form, and she takes 2 points of damage.
*
19- Alia -- fires four arrows in three lazy arcs.
19- Windrazor -- rises and looks around.
18- Montegue -- holds his action.
17- Rasina -- moves forward to L30, drawing her weapons as she does so
17- Chamomile -- flies around Durnast
5- The big Ghoul Wolf on the east side of the field (Combat maneuver check: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36) breaks free of Nadeq's webbing and moves to P10-Q11, within striking distance to Mikka's blazing form. It surveys the smouldering, arrow-ridden wolves surrounding her. "Oh, we can't be having that," it says with a huge, rumbling voice, filled with the calm malevolence of the grave. Its voice is louder than necessary, and at first, you suspect that it may be speaking for the benefit of the rest of you. But then you realize what it was signalling.
From out of the sleet storm, another great wolf appears, frost along its flanks but otherwise a close match of its kin. It comes loping up to Mikka, arriving at K11-L12, and (Intimidation check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8; never mind) attacks, trying to bite the fire elemental.
It (attack roll: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23) just barely manages to hit, thanks to the other wolf flanking. The bite does 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (4, 4) + 14 = 22 amount of damage. Also, Mikka, please make a Fortitude save to avoid being paralyzed.
The attack also initiates a trip maneuver. The Ghoul Wolf (combat maneuver: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37) succeeds, and Mikka is on her hands and knees.
On the other hand, the Ghoul Wolf isn't immune to Mikka's burn abilities. (Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26; it avoids catching on fire) It takes 1d6 ⇒ 3 points of damage.
"Thanks," rumbles the newly-arrived Ghoul Wolf, licking the burning patches of fur from its dessicated snout with its bone-dry tongue.
"Another one you owe me," replies the other, calmly but with gravity.
5- Nadeq, in Q28 -- moves to Montegue and casts shield.
4- Artimus, in L24 -- thinks it's a good idea to get the undead things' attention away from Mikka. He mounts up, and spurs his horse forward. "I doubt either of you will live long enough to see that debt repaid." His stallion gallops to L18-M19.
1- Richard, in the center of the PC cluster at M27 -- ready to Turn Undead if any get within range.
Round 5
any time Montegue -- holding his action.
21- Swiftpaws --
21- The normal Ghoul Wolves --
21- Mikka --
21- Durnast --
19- Alia --
19- Windrazor --
17- Rasina --
17- Chamomile --
5- The big Ghoul Wolves --
5- Nadeq --
4- Artimus --
1- Richard --

I'm on a road trip and can't draw out the map so please make adjustments as necessary
Montague now well shielded spends a Ki point if necessary to move within range of the attacking wolves.
If he still has an action to attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Unarmed strike (Treat as magical). 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8Damage
