Getting rid of Janiven during the sewer crawl

Council of Thieves

The adventures lists 3 reasons why it's good to split Janiven from the group during the sewer part, but says that Janiven leaves the group only if they insist on resting overnight in the sewers, which is an unlikely event.

I was wondering whether others had Janiven together with the party during this part, and if not, how did you get rid of her :)

Not a problem.

Spoiler:

I simply had her hand them the satchel at the beginning then tell them she was going the opposite direction to draw off pursuit. She told them not to use any lights, then she struck a sunrod - since she had the only light source, she believed the enemy would pursue her rather than the PCs.

Take a look at my post in this forum here.

Spoiler:
Similar to DM Blake, but I didn't have Janiven even go into the sewers. She ushered everyone thru the trap door telling them about the secret cache and the marks on the walls. She then asks the party to get Morosino to the safehouse, while she leads some of the hellknights on a chase thru the city (one person might lose them, but six, no way). As the hellknights break thru the door, she slams the trap door shut, locks it, and bolts out the back door.

Yeah, maybe a little stretch of the imagination, but it worked. And Janiven was there to open the door to the safehouse.

Spoiler:
I had her run off in a different direction. I used the excuse that she and the boy could travel faster to the safe house. Than she gave them the potions and explained the markers. Than she took off to the right and the players went left. I am happy they went off by themselves cause they just butchered everything in the way. Heck even the Feral Halfling chopped someone's hand off and started chomping on it.

I didn't bother. She hadn't demonstrated any particular combat ability that made her inclusion as anything more than someone to defend problematic. She wasn't even sure about directions given that the tunnels were marked long ago enough that she was just as lost as the PCs. She pulled a bow once down there in my campaign, and missed.

Thanks for all the great ideas! DM Blake - the recount of the sewer adventure on the other thread is great!

Out of curiosity how does one get to be a "Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber"?

Charter subscribers are those who have had a continuous subscription since before Pathfinder 1 was released.
