Welcome to the Council of Thieves campaign!
Here you can kick off your shoes, relax and discuss anything that may or may not relate to the campaign. But hopefully it's at least a little relating. I think you all have all the books you need and know all of the character generation rules we're using but I will emphasise again that I'm using the 20 point buy from the pathfinder book, just because it isn't what I usually do. I think everyone's characters are coming along so hopefully we can start sooner rather than later.
Since you all are likely new to these boards I'll point out that you can load your character sheet into your profile. This makes a handy dandy way for me to check things and for you to update.
I'll probably be using Google Docs for images and whatnot, placing the links to them in here, so I'll need everyone's email addresses. I have everyone's but Luke's I think.
Lastly, when you're making your character's backgrounds please give some thought as to some way specificly that the government of Westcrown has wronged you. This is a stipulation of the campaign. It also helps if your character is a native of Cheliax/Westcrown, but visitors can work too, as long as you have an angst towards the government. Shouldn't be hard considering they're not very nice.
Any questions, just ask. And just to review, we so far have (spoken for) a Half-Orc Druid, a Human Bard, an Elven Rogue, probably a Tiefling Fighter, and..... whatever Luke picks.

I tried to include as much character information on my Profile as I could. The traits I chose are: Child of Infamy, Canter, Fast-Talker.
But with Child of Infamy, the 'famous person' is myself. So, since I didn't die and leave myself money, I didn't take the 300gp bonus. I merely took it for the Perform (Act).
Which I was curious if I could have it changed to Perform (Dance) instead. OR if I could substitute Dance for Act (vice versa). Mainly due to the pre-req. Perform (Dance) 2 Ranks. Pretty sure you know which prestige class I'm referring to.

Switching the Trait to give you a +1 to Perform (Dance) is acceptable.
For everyone, loading your sheet to your profile actually works better if you just cut and paste it into the text window at the bottom. You can use the tags to format it, just like a post. (Click the 'show' button by 'BBCode tags you can use' to see what the formating is for the tags.
Hopefully that makes sense.

So I decided to change some of my character's stuff. First, he does indeed have his arm. I decided for the purpose of his backstory (which is awesome but totally messed up at the same time) he has both arms. and on to his backstory! essentially, he was alive during the time before Aroden died, but he died before Aroden, so he never saw Cheliax's downfall. He was an elf at this point, and his lover decided that the world was bad enough, she couldn't be without her beloved, so she had a druid cast reincarnation using his ashes. when he was reincarnated, imagine her surprise to find a Half orc standing there. Disgusted, she ran off, and deciding she couldn't ever be happy, she killed herself. Now Kalvek bears a grudge not only against the society that took his beloved away, but society as a whole, and has decided that all things that go against nature have got to go, starting with Cheliax. He has "found Cheliax guilty" of crimes against nature by cavorting with devils and such.
His main goal is to wipe all trace of infernal corruption from the earth where cheliax stands, and maybe even Cheliax too.

Now Kalvek bears a grudge not only against the society that took his beloved away, but society as a whole,
I'm not sure what this means. Since society didn't take his beloved away, her own flaws took her away. It isn't Cheliax's fault that she was too shallow to still love him as a half-orc and too emotionally weak to get over loosing him in the first place. Can you maybe explain this better?
and has decided that all things that go against nature have got to go, starting with Cheliax. He has "found Cheliax guilty" of crimes against nature by cavorting with devils and such.
So what exactly doe he define as going against nature? Building a city? Cavorting with devils, while evil, doesn't really automaticly equate to a crime against nature.
His main goal is to wipe all trace of infernal corruption from the earth where cheliax stands, and maybe even Cheliax too.
Soooo he wants to nuke Cheliax because of what its nobles are doing?
Like I said, maybe I just need a bit more explaination. Right now he sounds more like a crazy paladin than a Druid. If you're going for a LN Druid, I'd concentrate on someone who attempts to enforce or embody the order and laws that are found throughout the natural world.

Ok, I just changed my mind like half an hour before I read the post, lol. Still working on it, but this one seemed like I was playing an elf in a half orc's body, which is not what I want to do, so I will be redoing his backstory.
No problem. I've yet to get a full sheet from anyone so there's no big hurry. Feel free to bounce ideas off me though.

You make it sound like we have a online sheet we can fill out copy & paste.
Was there one sent to us?

I think what he means is that no one has filled out their profile to the point of it having all the info available on our character sheets. I think he wants as much info (or more) as there is on our characters sheets.

That was pretty much it, yes. Also I'd like to point back to my previous post that the profile looks better if you only use the text field, like this .
But as long as I can get the info that's cool.
I'm also still not sure exactly how the government of Westcrown has wronged each of you. Your backgrounds are fine, but I need something more specific if you can manage it. Thanks.

Atapax |

In my case, the infernal corruption that has twisted nature in Cheliax, while not Westcrown's fault directly, he has managed to find Westcrown first. He wants to try to heal the land there, but that means convincing the government to stop, and in leiu of that, changing it.
Thank you. That'll work.

For Nesswen,
She is not only trying to make a living for herself, but also hide from the Dottari. She will do anything to never go back to her old life, and I mean anything...
Because you know, a run away slave from House Rosala... like that's going to last long, right?
Well it's amayzing how cheap a Hat of Disguise is. I guess my big question is if she's worried about being re-captured why isn't she leaving the city? I can understand vengence but she's an elf, there's always time for revenge. In fact Calistria delights in long well plained and intricate revenge schemes. I think it might actually work better if she was from the capital. That way she would have already run away and she could be striking at her former master's interests from Westcrown. Make sense?

I understand the Hat of Disguise, but its not like I'm playing she has money at this point in time either. I see what your saying about coming from Egorian, and I toyed with that idea yesterday a bit. It would work out better, course I chose one of the 12 major influencing houses as her "Masters". Which could mean, they have a house in Egorian... I don't know, I didn't seem to read anything about Egorian in the campaign setting.
Course, now that she's out of the house, she's learned why she was forbidden to learn about the Solstice and Equinox Celebrations... The Stadium Fights. Which would make for an interesting way to start the campaign...regardless if that's how it actually is done.

So does this mean that you're going to change it? I can understand the desire to have the immediate connection with the city you're in. But it really makes far more sense to have her go somewhere she might be safe, at least for the moment, where she can have some time to plan her revenge. And besides, if you pick a noble house from Egorian (just make up a name) they're bound to be more powerful. Westcrown is all the outcast and looser nobility.

Well aside from a few minor tweaks I think we got everyone's character. Except the elusive Luke. I'll start thinking up a character just in case he can't make it. I notice a distinct lack of both a real Divine or Arcane caster. I'll figure something out. As soon as That last spot is full I'll start the intro RP. I'll be doing it by email as it's individual RP. Shouldn't take too long.

Atapax |

Hmmm Interesting, but I'm thinking not. Currently I'm waffling between a Cleric of Pherasma (awesome healing and energy channeling), a cleric of Iomedae (good warlike cleric who can't let people know who s/he really worships), or a Cleric of Nethys, Sorcerer (not so good healing but eventually also throwing fireballs).
It's a hard choice.

Personally I think we have enough DPS between the fighter and myself. I will be getting the 2-wpn fighting feats, just after Dodge/Mobility. Which will be acquired by lvl 4...

![]() |

So you dont need me or Mandy for DPS then? what are we, chopped liver? lol
Yeah, right? And plus, isn't the fighter more of a tank?
Haha, I just noticed that James has the only guy character. He's going to be surrounded by girls. I can't believe I just noticed that; I'm so slow. ^^ lol

Yes but rogues are notoriously squishy. They tend to be... Yay I sneak attacked him for 30 points!.... Crap I'm dead!....
Hence the need for a healer. And as we discovered in CotCT where we had a crap ton of DPS and a great healer... Sometimes you just need an Arcane caster to make things easier.
Hence my debate. But don't worry, I think I'm narrowing it down. I'll have a good support char ready for ya by the time we start.
Who thinks I should make it a girl to further surround James?

Nyaw, What you are, is what Turok was. A One-Hit Wonder. End Boss Fight? Power Attack, Fights done. "Next Please" *Imitating the Commissary 'Next' Call*
I say girl, that way when we stop off at a hot springs or somethin' we can totally tease the one guy in the party with a full girls bath.

Hmmmm for some reason I interpret this as a challenge. Just how many times did I TPK you all last campaign?
As for my NPCish character, it depends on the concept I come up with. Still got a few ideas. But like I said, we can start before I decide.

Aww.. Shucks! Yer pretty swell yerself.
As for the challenge.. bring it! There's a reward for dying a lot.
Graverisen [Achievement]
Death is no stranger to you, for you have risen from the grave to continue your quest many times.
Requirement: Die and be brought back at least twice.
Benefit: You gain a single-use supernatural ability to save yourself from death. The next time you would be killed, you may use this ability, leaving you alive and otherwise unaffected by the attack that would have killed you, even against effects with no saving throw. This does not require an action, and works even if you are helpless or unconscious. If you die and are brought back to life, you gain another single use of this ability. You can only have one use of this ability unspent at any time; any others you might accrue beyond the first are lost.
