I'm so looking forward to this film. I'm debating going to a free screening tonight, but that's not the point of this post. I belong to a facebook/meetup group that was planning on doing a Zombie Walk prior to seeing the film in a couple of weeks. Well, seems word got around and we're expecting a decent sized group to show.
The coolness really starts Yesterday when the group organizers were contacted by Sony Pictures. They asked if we could do a Zombie Walk to promote the film! Unfortunatly, due to the rushed nature of getting a Walk ready in just a couple of days, we aren't expecting a huge turnout, people already have plans and such. Sooo... Anybody in the area if you are interested, Check it out Rice Village Zombie Walk Saturday, Sept 26. 4pm - 5pm. Come, be a zombie. Or take pictures of some living dead. Or just show up for laughs and meet your favorite Undead Wolf. ;-)
Mrh?

Lighten up, brother. Everyone knows humans can't really cause that much damage to us, the undead. It's a work of FICTION. The humans just want to feel powerful, as if they may have some kind of chance of stopping us. We know the truth and so do they.
Enjoy the film for what it is, an attempt to make light of the innevitable coming destruction of mankind at the hands of it's former kin.
Also, Braaaaiiiiinssss...

Zombie Wolf has some good points. However, I'd also like to see Sony make up for the Anti-zombie sentiment this film promotes. Maybe if they donated a part of the proceeds to charity....
Brains on Trains is a wonderful charity whose goal it to provide fresh meals to zombies who can't get around on their own anymore. Many of these poor, heart-beat challenged fellows have lost the lower half of their bodies entirely, usually as a result of vicious attacks by so-called "zombie hunters". For just pennies a day, you to can make sure that the unlife of zombie is made a little bit better. Won't you help today?

Anyone seen Zombieland yet? Any review?
Hilarious! Sick and twisted and wrong! There is a secret to it, so see it soon before you are exposed to it somehow...go with your sick friends and have a blast.
Not a perfect film, it does drag a bit in a couple places. Stay after the credits. Great soundtrack! Amazing opening sequence. Metallica and slow motion violence.
Woody Harrelson, a banjo, and a fat zombie store clerk is all Im sayin.
Take it from me, your local neighborhood zombie librarian. I give it .........mmmmBRAINS!

How does it stack up with "Shaun of the Dead" (my personal favorite zombie movie)?
Different kind of movie. "Shaun of the Dead" is a British parody based off of the Romero series. "Zombieland" is much more adult humor/Woody Harrelson humor, kinda like "Kingpin", but with zombies. :D
"Zombieland" has a VERY "Left 4 Dead" feel about it, some might say "Left 4 Dead 2" due to the amusement park scene, various odd melee weapons and it focusing on 4 bickering survivors.
It is different from any other zombie movie that I've ever seen, concerning how is stacks up, but still really good.

My opinion? It eats "Shaun of the Dead"'s Brains. Shaun was a mediocre movie at best (IMO) whereas Zombieland takes everything cool about Zombies, then makes a comedy around them... while still trying to eat your brain.
They had me sold with the opener to the movie. It's almost classic but oh so fresh... like the warm entrails of a freshly slain kindergartner.

Between the two, I prefer Shaun of the Dead.
Zombieland is a great Action/Zombie flick. but really doesn't offer much besides that. I know it's supposed to be a comedy as well, and while I did laugh it was more at the over the top ridiculousness of it all.
Shaun of the Dead takes the parody and makes the humor an important part of the story and feels more realistic as a result.

+1. Shaun hit all the right notes for me. Nostalgia, over-the-top silliness, gore, cheap quick scares and drawn out scariness, and a nice use of a Queen song. Oh, and Zombie Wolf (and others who want to know the secret of the movie):
