Does anyone have a review or comment about how good C&C 4 is?
Personally, I have not played since the original.. 1997-ish.
Do you mean C&C3? C&C4 isn't out until some time next year (I suspect the end of the year).
After finding C&C1 and 2 to be very stodgy and slow (compared to the fast-paced RED ALERT games), I thought C&C3 was very good. It was fast-paced with solid multiplayer, interesting units and a good storyline. I liked the expansion as well, for bringing back a load of the C&C2 units which were well-designed.
C&C4 I have mixed feelings over. Whilst it will be good to finally get to the ending of Kane's story, it also seems to be pretty pointless completely changing how the game is played in its final instalment. Base-building and Tiberian harvesting are traditional parts of C&C gameplay and removing them in favour of some lame DAWN OF WAR II model really seems like a bad idea. The SAGE engine is also so long in the tooth it's start to get pretty ridiculous that they're still using it. We'll see what the game's like when it comes out.
