I recently bought the adventure UK4, and the inside folder (with the maps) is missing.
I'm sorry I can't help, not having the adventure, but could I ask you something?
Where and how did you buy this? Am I to understand that you weren't warned that the maps were missing?
I ask because...
And if anyone else reads this spoiler, I would ask people in general: Have you had similar experiences?

Yes, but only once, nothing important just some PC stat sheets for Lost Shrine Tamoachan.
When a star falls is pretty darn good. Check UK6 All That Glitters as well. The big payoff will surprise the players!Aaron Bitman |

I wasn't even thinking about the cases where the missing material wasn't important. Now that you mention it, I did get an old D&D Basic Set (the one with the Elmore cover) with one page missing. But that page, torn along a perforation, clearly must have had just a grid on one side. I don't know what was on the other side, but I'm reasonably sure it was nothing important. I wouldn't complain about that.
And as for your All That Glitters spoiler...
It's a pity WotC stopped offering those downloads. Ah well. I'm getting tired of converting AD&D material to 3.X anyway.

I may be off in my memory, but I think "when a star falls" was one of those rare adventures that had two(2) covers. I remember a purple cover, but then inside the cover was another cardstock cover with the usual 4 more panels. If my memory is right, that's probably why he didn't notice it missing when he bought it...
But again... I'm recalling back... like 20 years since I ran that module.

You have a very good memory. There is indeed an additional 4-panel cardstock cover.

Thanks again Callum !
I'll check if no other map is missing (indeed, I only have one cover, the "ouside" cover, with 2-4 maps on it, and missing others maps mentionned in the index & in the adventure : a few lairs, the "regional" map and so on).
FYI, I bought it from a french e-bay seller who had twice this adventure : he did not even notice that some maps were missing.
I think (& believe) he is not dishonest : he just did not check and alas, when I began to read the adventure, I went into maps referenced that I could not find and checked the index !

Thanks! You helped convince me that I have the right idea.

Upon seeing this thread, I had to dig out my copy and check if everything was there. Luckily, it is. I noticed that I have a spare copy of UK 3 "The Gauntlet", but am missing UK 2 "The Sentinel". If anybody is interested in exchanging that (or some other interesting offer), and lives in Europe, I guess we can work something out. (Shipping to the US is probably not worth the effort.)

I'll agree completely with houstonderek; When A Star Falls is my fave of the UK modules. It has quite a bit of "setting" in the short page count and tied wonderfully in with the original Fiend Folio.
Plus, I have an absolute fascination with the whole "order of monks" concept.
Glad to read you found your maps! Keep us posted on how the module serves your nefarious purposes...

I started running First Edition games (1e AD&D) games for folks who never played the original game. It must be a sign of getting old, but nearly everyone I know or meet hasn't played the old game, but when they do—they have sooo much fun.
Thanks for reminding me of this module. I'll keep an eye out for it, maybe I can get a copy and run in again. The funny thing about my memory of this one.... I seem to remember something called a "memory web" that really sparked my imagination. Again, I don't know if this was the module, but I think it was.

Now... I have a crazy word in my mind, but maybe its from another module... Machin iz der Bozorg?!?
Was that in there?
Yeah, it was the...
But I think the name was a little different, IIRC.
The memory web was there as well, it...

Much love for UK4!
When I couldn't find my hard copy from the old days, I went looking for a digital copy. I found a little company called Paizo. I think I paid 1 or 2 dollars for it. If you told me then I was going to spend many hundreds of dollars at that little site, I would have thought you were bonkers.
I converted it to 3.5 and I think it was well received by my group.
I think I renamed the machin i borg something like the iBorg to give it that extra Apple creepiness.

Holy bozorgs! You took the time to convert it to v.3.5? If you have this documented, may I please have a copy, I would love to run it in Pathfinder RPG!!!
Let me know if you'd like something quid pro quo?—Pax

Sure. However, it was like 2 years ago so it may take me a week or two to dig up.

That's funny. When I found this adventure years ago used, it was also missing those maps--the major wilderness areas and the Tower of the Heavens. I created my own versions of them based off the descriptions in the text and then ran the thing for a 2e party. Years later I found and bought the pdf through Paizo and was delighted to compare the actual maps with my interpretations. Most of them, like the tower (which was like putting a puzzle together blindfolded) were pretty different. Some, however, were eerily similar. It was pretty cool to look back on it. All in all, an awesome adventure. One of my favorites out of the UK which created many of my overall favorites bewteen the U and UK series and B10. Enjoy!

You know... I recall that when I bought and ran When a Star Falls so many years ago—there handn't been anything like it that we'd ever seen. I seem to think we played it before Ravenloft came out. Both of these modules, along with the Dragonlance series, seemed to be "game-changers" in the sense that everyone knew we'd been taken somewhere in our imaginations that we hadn't considered before. Now, I don't mean that any one story, including WaSF was unlike any story we'd ever heard about... but it did feel different and expanded the way we thought about what could be done in a game. I would place this particular module among the hallowed few at the top of the classic list for that reason.
