Good evening SoFAWTLers. I hope your day is going better than mine.

Does that mean there has been no improvment in your girl Patrick? :(

Well, let's see the roster of fun things in monkey's life today:

  • My Golden Retreiver George has decided to chew off half his fur, so we are taking him to the vet tomorrow.
  • My Boston Terrier Noelle has somehow hurt her leg, I am contemplating bringing her along as well.
  • My daughter Ally isn't feeling any better.
  • My foster daughter Britt has gone off the deep end, and we are currently wondering WTF we can do to get her calmed down.
  • Money seems to be haemorraging out of our account at a stupendous pace, to the point where if my wife can't find a job I think I will follow Flash into food service, at least as a night job.
  • A random wart-like growth has decided to make a hideous appearance on my lip (!) . I'm not sure WTF it is, but now I gotta go to the doctor as well.

Not having a good day.

I'm really sorry to hear that, all of it. If there is anything we can do or if you want someone to vent at, feel free to let us know. You guys are in our prayers. :/

Thanks Moorluck. I will get by, I always do. My burdens are light compared to some, and I will come out the other side in time.

EDIT: AND TOP OF THE PAGE BIOTCHES!

Patrick, sorry you're having so much frustration :(

I hope that things improve sooner rather than later.

Heya Moorluck! You seem somewhat better today.

Well, a heartfelt thank you for the positive thoughts, prayers, etc. that were given yesterday on Natasha's behalf. Turns out she was having an allergic reaction to an antihistamine decongestant she was taking because of the cold/flu she picked up. As soon as she stopped it and drank a lot of water to flush it out, the symptoms abated, and she's almost back to normal today.

Phew! Life crisis number 8,455,239,323 averted .... =)

Thank goodness.

I promised myself that if I finish NaNoWriMo and don't go nuts foodwise in the meantime, I can have one on Nov 30th/Dec 1st.

Edit: So if there is a news story about a woman in SW FL recreating the diner scene from Harry Met Sally in a Five Guys... :)

I use whole wheat couscous, so it's actually pretty healthy. I can give you the recipe if you like. It's really easy to make. But if you'd rather I can just shut up about food. Sorry :/

I had the new Carl's Jr. Parmesan Chicken sandwich for dinner tonight. It was yummy, but so big I could not finish it. It is a new experience for me.

So tired. Got in late because of car repair pick-up and bad traffic. Exhausted and still have paperwork to turn into chair for tomorrow's review visit. But the new bestiary was waiting at my front door...

Great news, CB!

What's going on, Patrick, has there been further developments? I missed whatever thread that was in.

If you have the recipe handy, sure. It sounds pretty healthy and I have some quinoa I need to use (although the whole wheat couscous sounds really good).

No problem. I better have it handy since I made it up :)

Spoiler:

Chicken Couscous
about 1 1/2 cups of chopped cooked chicken
1 can chick peas
1/2 cup golden raisins (optional)
1 box whole wheat couscous
2 cups chicken broth
1 tsp garlic powder
1 T cumin
1 T cinnamon
2 T olive oil

Pour enough boiling water over the raisins to just cover them. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over med high heat. Drain and rinse the chick peas. Add the chicken and chick peas to the pan. Stir for 1-2 minutes until warmed through. Add the garlic powder, cumin, and cinnamon. Stir for roughly 30 seconds. Add the raisins and the broth. Bring to a boil. Stir in the couscous. Cover and remove from heat. Let sit 5 minutes. Stir and enjoy.
Note: This makes a huge batch of couscous, so plan for leftovers if only making for one or two.

Ya for rasins being optional! I might try this with rice, since Ruth and the kids don't like couscous. I don't like hummas, so it's an even trade.

I take it you don't like raisins. :)

There's no reason it shouldn't work with rice. Especially if you use the Minute brown rice. Then the directions are pretty much the same except you want to wait about 5 minutes after you put the lid on the pan before you remove it from the heat. :)

Yep... although technically Sting Rays aren't that much of a threat (Steve Irwin not withstanding). Sharks are definately a problem, although not so much around here, more Southern Australia. Blue-ringed Octopi are very nasty but not really much of a threat unless you are stupid. I haven't heard about any kind of BRO related incident in a very long time.

And then of course you get out of the water and it's a whole nother story of deadly... :/

I don't like raisins. Mostly I just don't like things that are overly sweet. Which is why I like sweet potatos until people doctor them up with things like brown sugar and marshmallows.
