Ruff draft; first attempt at making a class up; yadda yadda....

Blackguard for Pathfinder rpg:
Role: jack paladins to the wall; promulgate wickedness and mayhem in the world at the behest of abyssal powers; generally be an utter and complete bastard.

alg:chaotic evil

thinking of deepsixing heal for bluff

W/AP all simple/martial weapons; all armor, all shield cept tower.

okay the fun part.....base class; not a prestige
1-20--bab/saves same as paladin
special:
1--aura of evil, detect good, smite good 1/day
2--profane grace(+cha bonus saves), backstab 1d6
3--menacing aura-fear or command as the spell 1/day+1/cha bonus;class level is level of spell.
4--channel neg energy 1/day+1/day per cha bonus+1/day per four levels after 4th/smite 2/day
5--profane bond-weapon qualities possible anarchic, bril energy, defender, disrup, flaming, flaming burst, keen, speed, unholy, wounding or you get a horsy(a la the pally)
6--backstab 2d6
7--smite good 3/day
8--aura of (antinonnonresolve? torment? noname yet) suggestion 1/day+1/cha bonus; or fear 1/day+1/cha bonus; level of spell is class level
9--backstab 3d6
10--smite good 4/day
11--aura of carnage(2 smite good burn to give smite good to his homies within 10 feet.....same otherwise as aura of justice)
12--backstab 4d6

18--bstab 6d6
19--smite good 7/day
20--unholy terror=holy champion; replace word "evil" with "good."

the smite good does +1 hp per level vs. any good creature; +2 hp/level vs. good outsiders, good dragons(?) or "the lawful good cleric/paladin."

*gonna slide him some spells; same type and level as the pally; I figure the spell list would be pretty self explanatory.

Liberty's Edge

Oh, yeah; hit points d10 duuuuuh......

Yikes! Are we going up against one of these bad boys, Heathy?

Liberty's Edge

(lol)
I was just creating an anti-paladin leukocyte,......

I like it. Maybe the spells aren't too self explanatory (or, I'm not too bright, more likely)--would the blackguard get, say, poison as a 4th level spell?

Liberty's Edge

Yeah; I stayed up til 2 am last night cos I couldn't sleep til I tried to make a blackguard; didn't get to the spells.
Looks like it's in the 3.5 list though.

Liberty's Edge

I also jacked lay on hands and mercies in favor of a backstab. I think it's more fitting, and the loh/mercies seem to be more in line with helping others and raising people up from their lowliness, and I figure the blackguard would rather step on their necks.
It also seemed to me that in a fight, a blackguard should be spanking people rather than raising up his fallen comrades, which is what the mercies are about, so I gave him sneak attack instead.
The "use poison" from the 3.5 blackguard--I didn't know where to put, cos he's just got so much stuff anyhow.....maybe I should stick use poison on the second backstab die improvement, and take them all down one die from there on out.

I like the backstab as replacement for lay on hands. I think you can give him "use poison" at 7th level, which would be equivalent to the prestige class. I don't think that would be overpowering.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah; I was thinking somewhere around that level;....think I'll figure out when an assassin can get it, and do it one or two levels higher than the guy whose forte use poison is....
GAAAAAH! Book at home!
Where's that srd? ;)

Weird. The PFRPG assassin gets poison use at first level, but the prestige class is achievable at character level 3 (the strictest rules requirement is Stealth 5 ranks). The SRD assassin is achievable at character level 6 (Hide/Move Silently 8 ranks).

Liberty's Edge

(lol)I thought the same thing; skills work a little different now.
You get max ranks of your level in a skill; you get a +3 bonus to a skill roll that you've spent a rank on that is a class skill of yours.

Liberty's Edge

so stealth at 5 ranks means you have to be 5th level.

Derpy der! You're right. I missed that in the book, and I forgot that changed. :)

Thanks for the correction.

Liberty's Edge

No problem, man!
We're all absolute beginners here.....I just figured that shit out last night.

sending one of these against my players soon, should either be this session today or next session in two weeks. Will let you know how it goes :)
