It's a good few miles, but There is a tram service called the metrolink, that will take you from within the airport, right into the town center (for a fee). From there it's a 10-15 minute walk.

Also there are train services from the airport into the town center, and they would potentially put you around 30 seconds walk from the venue, if you can get one to "Deansgate Station"...

Thanks, if I can attend I probably ask someone in here to search a connection for me.

But, since I cannot take holiday on Friday 16th and Monday 19th it is not very likely that I will go to Manchester.

Is there going to be an interactive?

At Game 09 it will be standard table top Pathfinder Society games. I'm starting to do some thinking and planning about an interactive for PaizoCon UK 2010 but there's nothing definite yet.

The Exchange

The UK Venture Captains will be giving out missions at a number of UK conventions.

16th-18th October in Manchester at Game '09.
This will be the first UK convention where we'll be using the Pathfinder rules.

30th-31st October in Telford at Oddcon
27-31st January 2010 at Conception

And probably a few others between now and PaizoCon UK 2010. (Any suggestions/invitations?)

Sovereign Court

Looking at figuring out a way to get tickets and accommodation. Now, are there any plans to do something Sunday night once the convention finishes, like PaizoCon UK, or is that unlikely?

Do you mean after Game in Manchester? Unlikely I'm afraid as most of us will be heading home on the Sunday night. We will be arriving on the Friday afternoon though so if people are interested in meeting up on the Friday night I'll be interested.

Sovereign Court

Yeah, I meant Game in Manchester. Probably should have made it clearer! That makes it a bit cheaper though. Hopefully I'll know more about where I stand with my finances this time next week, so I might be there. Looking forward to seeing you lot!

I'd enjoy doing something on the Friday. Curry anyone? :D

Sounds good.

And everybody who is interested in Pathfinder Society at UK conventions should also look at this thread.

Hope to see plenty of you guys at upcoming conventions.

The Exchange

I'm currently considering having two rooms at PaizoCon UK 2010. It would mean we could have more space. But it would mean people are separated and would be dependent on us getting enough players to pay for two rooms.

What do people think? Those who were there this year, would you prefer to have more space?

From what I recall of this year, those who were immediately under the air-conditioning because of the number of tables we had in the room would have preferred more space... :)

Okay, more seriously, there were more people in attendance on the Saturday this year, if I recall correctly... Is it possible to hire two rooms for the Saturday and one for the Sunday with an option to book another room on the Sunday upto a couple of months beforehand if numbers are going in that direction?

(Lengthy email dispatched giving some more in-depth thoughts on the subject of numbers and room hire.)

Edit:
GOOD LUCK FOR PFS AT MANCHESTER THIS WEEKEND.

Sovereign Court

Don't they have any bigger rooms available? Two rooms fairly close together should be fine though.

Uzzy wrote:

They only have one room that is bigger but for that we would need to be paying a per delegate rate. We can have the same room as this year plus the room next door (which is slightly smaller and cheaper). If we got the equivalent of 20 more people then we would cover the cost.

*Thread bump*
Okay. As far as I know the senior PaizoCon UK organiser, Wintergreen, has now got the fine print nailed down with the venue, and PaizoCon UK 2010 will be taking place (acts of God permitting) at Aston university on the third weekend of July in 2010.
(Kudos to him for once again dealing with the sanity threatening challenge of negotiating with academia...)

Thanks Charles. Confirmation, I have now booked PaizoCon UK 2010 at Aston University, Birmingham for the 17th and 18th July 2010. We will have two rooms on the Saturday and one room on the Sunday. I'll be starting to round up volunteer GMs soon.

And as negotiating with academia is generally my day job I can confirm the sanity-threatening properties of such interactions...

Sovereign Court

Huzzah! Hopefully that won't be in the middle of my next set of exams, or anything.

I have the dates in my calender, I plan to be there all weekend, life permitting....

I would enjoy GMing a slot, as well as playing in lots this time round....

:)

Liberty's Edge

Please spread the word far and wide to friends, family, gamers, Venture Captains, players and DMs so they can reserve 17 and 18 July in their gaming diary. This will be the big event of the year for Pathfinder Society players.

Transport Update:
With the completion of the renovated Digbeth Coach Station, the Coach Station has relocated from the temporary site back to the new quarters on the previous site. Basically this means that the Coach Station has moved a short distance and is now on the other side of the main road that runs through Digbeth, all of which probably adds several minutes walking time to travel on foot from the Coach Station to the venue.
As far as I know there are no plans to move it again before July.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Both Wintergreen and Rob are currently gearing up for Conception 2010, where I gather that they will be running still yet more PFS ('Do they ever stop?' I have to ask myself, though I already know the answer is likely 'NO - they outdo even the Duracell bunny')...

Just add a quick +1 to the number of UK inhabitants registering interest in playing.

Any known Pathfinder GMs in the Aberdeen area ?

Sovereign Court

Well, payment day for the Student Loans was yesterday, and low and behold, the Student Loans Company still hasn't sent me all the money I'm due. So rather then being able to consider doing fun stuff like gaming, I'm going to be scraping around for pennies to get food.

Which is a longwinded way of saying that I won't be at Conception this year. Hopefully I can threaten enough people so that I get all the money I'm due in time for PaizoCon UK though, so I hope to see you there again. And enjoy Conception!

Try your local MP if all else fails. He or she may be motivated to be extra helpful with a general election due shortly, unless he or she happens to be one of the ones planning on retiring.

Sovereign Court

Sadly, I live in Hull, so a change in MP is about as likely as.. well, an unlikely thing happening. More specifically, the MP's Diana Johnson, who's as government as they come, so not really going to get help there. Still, thanks for the suggestion. It'd normally be good advice..

The Exchange

That's a real shame Uzzy. But do make sure we see you at PaizoCon UK (and good luck getting the loan sorted).

Hey guys. I will be coming along if i possibly can.

To Conception? If so, that will be excellent and there will be plenty of Pathfinder. I've arranged for at least 3 tables in the majority of the slots and I have about 8 or 9 volunteers to run things. Check out the PaizoCon UK website for more information.

So after the success last year, James and Eric mentioned sending a proper staff contingent down to Brummy-land this year.

What would we have to do to get an SKR painting master class set up on this side of the pond?

After the convention next week I'll start working on this. Suggestions for threats, bribes, etc to get a Paizo contingent in the UK should be sent to me.

A signed Jane Birkin poster would work on one person, I suspect.

I know Black Dow on these Boards is in Aberdeen...I'm in Inverness..it would be nice to get the ocassional PFS game in Scotland otherwise we all run the risk of falling behind the curve.

I'm also British, for the record :)

My other half can near enough mass produce these.

The fact that I'm eating the penultimate slice has nothing to do with the suggestion.

Well if you feel the need to bring along a sample bribe to a pathfinder game...

+1 for Paizocon 2010 whoop! Would you need to register or anything to play on the day?

I'll be setting up registeirng and pre-payment on our website in the next few weeks. It's helpful for us to know who is coming and what chaarcters and levels will be played so that we can have everything organised beforehand and guarantee games. But people can still come along on the day(s) to play.

Just tell Erik I have THAT picture of him. He'll know what I'm talking about and will be eager to visit... ;-)

Wintergreen: The other way is for me to vouch for him, as I've met the guy!

Arakhor: But yes, you should go and bring John and your other gaming pals.

Feel free to come unannounced, but if you do drop in without warning, you'll get given a 0-level gnome backpack-carrier, called Dangleberry Tagnut.

Hmm. I don't have any 1st edition stuff, but I have a modest sized 2nd edition AD&D collection...

Remind me to put a note on my tickets request says "at least one more game with snorter." Last year was fun, even if I haven't managed any more PFS games since.

Unofficial slogan for PaizoCon UK?

Well so far I'm on track to attend...off course I'll probably have to book a room on campus this year as Dabbler has moved to Glossop..just a little too far for a daily commute unlike Gloucester.
