The door is dwarven make, hence, subject to their rigid standards of quality.

Initiative Order for the ready reference of everyone:

Before anyone else can move Kol's sword springs from its sheathe and strikes the innkeeper like a serpent.

Roll damage please; if you have the rulebook handy can you check the hit locations for your attack rolls.

Male Norscan Bondsman/Mercenary

With the fury of the North Wind I strike at the Innkeeper. Showing no mercy once I heard him utter his alliegance to the Dark Powers. My first stike hit him in the right arm for d10=3+3+1 mighty blow=7, in hopes of making him drop the item thats glowing in his hand. I then going for body shot d10=9+3+1 might blow=13. Hoping to drop him where he is.

Thanks Rad, I will update my character with the bonus xp tomarrow morning. Glad I picked up the main rulebook. I had completely forgotten how to do damage.

Dark Archive

Oh the right arm, oh dear.

Everyone have their dice ready, this could be scary.

Kol's blow causes the innkeeper to drop what he was holding -- a transplucent glass globe containing some weird green swirling gas.

Time slows to a crawl as the globe falls towards the ground....

For Rikarus

Spoiler:

You can catch the globe by rolling your Agility at -10.

Everyone still have fate points?

Male Human Apprentice Wizard

"Oiy Veh!" watching the globe and not having anything in hand to throw under the globe that would arrest its fall and possible shatter.

I am thinking if the glob is some kind of gass or nurgle disease; i am gonna slam my door and shove the blanket in any cracks to seal it and move to the far side of the room; open the window.

but, am watching in case when he drops the globe and it becomes a demon; I might be the only one who can hurt it by using magic; so I just cant slam the door; am watching have my darts in my hand as spell components for "magic dart"; am channeling to have my magic ready; heeh I have a "drop" spell; to bad I dont have the reverse to catch something that drops.

so, I am watching to see what happens from just back from the doorway of my room on the door side using it as cover hoping not to draw any attention; if anyone is near my doorway; I will try to save them if something bad happens if they have the agility to jump in my room before I slam it shut. If it is an explosion; well, hope my partial cover of the door and doorframe will help me tough it out.

<Kol is a Decepticon; get him>

Dark Archive

For Willard

Spoiler:
Your witchsight flashes and you see people dying from the dark green gas that spews from the broken globe. You see your present companions on the ground; the lawbringers reduced to mere husks and the innkeeper, now with wings, bellowing triumphantly before he barrels out of the window and into the night. The vision passes and you are now back in the present.

Male Human Apprentice Wizard

EVACUATE; quick; you in the room; Lawgives Flee and surround this building! TRUST ME, MOVE NOW: RUN!

Quick in and out the window; FLEE!

<do the shut the door and flee; might need the sheets to slide down the window>

I run for it.

Before Willard tells us to flee, Rikarus makes a mad leap to attempt to catch the globe...I will use any or all my 2 of my fate points to attempt to actually catch it. Nooooooooooooo

AG32-10=221d100=43 Not sure how the fate points work...(cuz I'm at work atm)

If Rikarus dies, then I'll start a new character soon, LoL...I bought my own copy of the book yesterday with a Border's 40% off coupon...nice...

Male Human Apprentice Wizard

<where did you get he coupon; i need one too; rulebook pg 198 says gm should come up with a way you survive; doesnt say anything about the rest of us, lol>

I pray he catches it!

Male Norscan Bondsman/Mercenary

I watch as the item drops from the Innkeepers hand. Realizing to late its some orb filled with some vile ingredient. Instead of some charm or hidden weapon. Where I am standing; I know I have no place to run. I watch helplessly as Rik dives for the fragile orb. I would help but my hands are filled with weapon and shield. Fate will decide what happens this day. I just hope to save the lifes of my comrades and the Lawgivers.

Back avay quickly! Zafe yourselves! Zhe Khaos Skum dropped zome kind ov orb. It looks to be villed vith zome kontagion or explosive!

Okay updated my character. I added +5% toughness.

In my email...it was their Labor Day member's coupon. I also used a 20% coupon to get a Frank Lloyd Wright book, and took advantage of the 3 for 2 bargain books for my kids...spent $50 saved 30. Now that I have a permanent copy of the main book, I'll be learning the rules better...thanks to this PbP game, I decided to buy it...heh.

As Vulpert was delaying, Rad, would he have the chance to discard his bow and arrow, and instead fling his wide-brimmed hat to the floor to catch and cushion the orb when it fell?

I'd be using a fate point of course. I was figuring that I might have a shot if I was first in initiative count to go and recognized the potential danger.

Seeing the orb dancing out of the innkeeper's hand, the noxious green mist spiraling inside of it, Vulpert' eyes go wide. His intuition tells him that nothing good can come of this.

You can burn off one to reroll again

For Rikarus

Spoiler:
A truly heroic act would be to smother the globe with your body but that will surely kill your character. However, it will give the rest of the guys the requisite time to flee and their toughness roll will not receive any penalty. You can then reroll a new character with +500 XP and an extra fate point.

Pistols shots zing and miraculously miss your head.

We'll consider you already at the window.

"Don't touch it!"

Tossing bow and arrow to one side with a clatter, Vulpert grabs his much-traveled, wide-brimmed hat from his head and tosses it with a slight spinning backhand toward the descending globe. His lips pinch together in trepidation and in his mind's eye he tries to envision the orb landing like a hen's egg in a straw-filled nest.

Roll = 46 (36 +10 penalty, factored into roll) Gah! Hit my Agility on the nose and the penalty pushed it over the top.

Rikarus dives to smother the foul device!

"Fly you fools!"

Male Dwarf Shieldbreaker

Korgidd watches the actions of his companions, as if in slow motion, and feels tugged in two directions. His fear tells him to run, hide, crawl, jump out a window, go wherever he can to get away from that little green ball. But his mind is one of fighting the deepest, darkest foes and fighting the fear that comes with them. He springs to attack the innkeep, though it may result in a meaningless death, he can not dishonor his clan by fleeing.

Weapon Skill roll with +10% for charge (1d100+10=33) Right arm. What are the odds of two hits to the right arm? Damage with Hammer (1d10+4+1=9)

Use a FORTUNE point for an additional half action

Weapon Skill test (1d100=77)Miss. Damn.

Dark Archive

The innkeeper squeals and clutches his right arm, as he struck there by Kol and Korgidd. The lawbringers start to aim their pistols but they pause as they here Rikarus moan in pain.

"Fly you fools!" he says, the last word of a man too brave for his own good.

The innkeeper suddenly sprout wings and attempt of hurtle out of the window. The simultaneous double volley from the lawbringers put a stop to that. Greenish ichor splashes those near the innkeeper, particularly Kol, Korgidd, Vulpert and Rikarus.

But the damage has already been done as green gas emerge from the stricken form of Rikarus whose skin is now full of blisters and other unsightly wounds.

Everyone toughness check (without penalty thanks to Rikarus) except Rikarus (who fails this one) and Willard (who is halfway out of the window as we speak).

Argghhh!!!

New character is in works...the biggest halfling you've ever seen... I rolled 10 and 100 for height//weight, 4' tall 145 lbs ...LoL

Vulpert watches the mad ferryman pounce upon the globe as his hat gently comes to rest on one side. Momentarily baffled by Rikarus' actions, the shouted warning and sounds of the Lawgiver's pistols discharging bring him back to himself, and he bounds down the hallway for the stairs to the lower floor. He thinks of Rikarus and winces. One can always come by another hat, however.

Toughness check = 52, most likely failed, ugh.

Fate point

Male Human Apprentice Wizard

Thou Shalt Not Pass!

if that winged thing in still coming this way; I cannot let it pass me out the window; if I can; I will cast my magic missle at it; if I cannot; I will attempt to sieze it and carry it out hte window to not let it fly away; I yell the whole time.

"Thou Shalt Not Pass!"

hopefully I can slow it down so some other dwarves can kill it even if it takes me out. I cannot let it hurt anyone else.

I never played a caster; dont know how to cast spells; do I roll channeling and then roll willpower? am not near a book.

Male Norscan Bondsman/Mercenary

Seeing Korgidd move up and attack the Innkeeper. Knowing full well the danger. And Rikarus diving at my feet trying to catch the sickly orb. There is no way in my heart I could run. I'd rather die than live with yellow staining my back. Pride wells in my chest as Rik dives upon the orb. Taking the worst effects of whatever that insidious device contained. Seeing his selfless sacrifice gives me a small measure of hope for the men of the southlands. Completely ignoring the fact I was almost killed by the Lawgivers in a crossfire against the Innkeeper.

Strangely enough as everything slows down around me. The whizzing of the bullets. Rikarus's crys as his skin blisters, as the contents of the orb work there evil. The Innkeeper revealing his mutation, and falling dead bouncing off the wooden floor. With a shocked expression on his face. I think of that Praag girl who wanted me to stay with her. Funny how that seems important now; of all times. The tenderness of a hug, the warmth of a fire, a warm meal. The little things in life. I wonder if Rik had any of those things. I wonder what he is thinking...

Zomeone quikk grab zome vater und poor it over Rik. Lets try und dilute zhis poison. I look for a washbasin full of water, or even a mop bucket full of water to try and poor on Rik. With hopes water will ease the burning, and dilute the toxin. Perception 76%, blah fail. Will use a Fate Point to try and save Rik. For the Toughness Test 34% made it. If it wasn't for me increasing that stat, and Rik's sacrifice I would have failed.

No need to worry the innkeeper thing did not smash into your room but the sounds of pain, anguish and death can be heard clearly over the resounding boom of the double volley of pistol shot. A hint of green gas emerges from under the door.

Despite your ministrations, it is too late for poor Rikarus.

Your Fate point is not expended. Note Rikarus will be reincarnated as a fat Hobbit.

Several lawbringers die from the foul chaos gas. Their leader however is unaffected.

Male Human Apprentice Wizard

looking out the window, what do I see?

though the wall from the window I yell "any of you still alive in the hall, any ideas? I am thinking fresh air...get away from the green stuff"

Hearing the strange man yell from the neighboring room only speeds Vulpert on, as far away as he can get from the noxious gases.

Huh, what's all this about then? says 'Lucky' Lucius from the Inn's alleyway...coming back from a late night of carousing in the Dwarven city.

Just have to buy some additional stuff, check over my sheet and let me know if it looks good.

Male Norscan Bondsman/Mercenary

Seeing the mutant innkeeper slain. I step away from the body and the rising green gas. At a loss for words I just sheath my sword. After awhile I decide to go grab my pants and put them back on; as well as the rest of my cloths. If I am going to help carry bodies then at least I should be decent. Looking over at the head lawgiver. I vill help karry zhe dead down if you allow me. Zhough ve zhould burn zhat zhing. Anyvon have gloves zo I kan protect my hands? I have a somber expression. Looking at so many good dwarves/man dead. Knowing if there is one worshipper of the Dark Gods then there is usually others.

Dark Archive

For Willard

Spoiler:
You see a short man looking from the alley taking an unusual interest in the events happening at the inn. But who wouldn't, right?

Dark Archive

In the aftermath, several members of the lawbringers die along with Rikarus and the innkeeper. Several guests who heard the commotion instantly lost the minds moreso when they saw the remains of those who perished.

The leader of the lawbringers leans on his runehammer. "This is a black day."

Pointing at Korgidd, "You and your companions must now come with me."
