Dragonmarks and Pathfinder's feat progression

General Discussion (Prerelease)

In the Eberron CS, access to dragonmarks was usually, for the lesser ones, at level 6, as you needed two skills with nine ranks and you got a feat too.

With the Pathfinder's feat progression, you get a feat at level 5 and 7.

As the lesser dragonmarks give you SLA with spell levels of 3 or 4 mostly, I am torn and unsure. Some now seem really early, if it's at level 5, while others seem really late, if it's at level 7.

Anyone else stumbled upon this problem?

Found any solution?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

DW

I went early, dragonmarks arent really overpowering feats.

So you're comfortable giving a spell like Locate Creature or Dimension Door to a level 5?

This is really where I'm not sure if it is or not overpowering.

well you have it wrong skill is -3 so so you need 6 ranks for lesser and 9 ranks for greater.

Note that in pathfinder the +3 class bump DOES NOT count for ranks. Meaning you need 6 real ranks ...so 6th level and 9th level. Meaning you have to either allow them to save a feat for it or they will have to take it at 7th. As they will not meet the skill need before 6th

Edit: Sorry I totally missed your meaning here I thought you have got the skills wrong. I myself would allow them to save the 5th level slot for it.

I was going to adjust the skill requirements to make it either available to level 5 or 7 characters.

But why allow it earlier if it gives, in some cases, access to level 4 spells?

Like I said I would allow them to "save" a feat slot from 5th level. It really does not hurt taking it at 7th.
