Moorluck wrote:Any new pest questions?Just a questions about roaches how common are they and do they only show up in dirty houses?
Well there are dozens of breeds of roaches. But the most common one complained about is the german cockroach.(which by the way originates in Asia). The german is about as long as the average mans thumbnail, and light brown in color. This is the one you think about when you think infestation, as they breed every 2-4 weeks, laying 40 eggs at a time, give or take. How common are they? Very, it is estimated that nearly every structure in America will have an invasion within any 10 yr period. And virtually every resturant has had them at some point in the last 2.
As for them only showing up in "dirty" homes, although sanitation can be a factor, any home or business can get them. The german roach does not live outside and then come into a home. They live with us, in our homes and wharehouses, we spread them through produce shipments, old furniture that was in storage, and in some cases clothes or other items bought at yard sales. They become the biggest problem in condos, and multi unit structures. I have seen many cases of very clean places get outbreaks because of boxes that had been brought in. The german cockroach is the most prolific insect in North America, and is a very hardy survivor. And it lives with us, Yay us!![](/WebObjects/Frameworks/Ajax.framework/WebServerResources/wait30.gif)

Ah, the monstrous alphabet. I did one of those. :)
It was a Christmas present for my son. Note: I do not recommend trying to do 26 illustrations in less than a month, especially a holiday month when there's lots of other stuff that has to get done too.
That's awesome! Now I'm gonna have to do that. Our oldest can name 85% of the creatures in the MM, but our little girl would love it.
(I'm guessing you didn't use: Ss. as in Succubus.) ;p

The Jackalope and the Xorn were the ones I felt turned out the best of the whole bunch. :)
I had people in the chatroom helping me find a monster that starts with J after I got totally stuck on that one. There just aren't that many.
Pfft. Old people. Jackalopes got dismissed back with Cyclopes!
